Senior Citizen Suffers Fractured Leg After Objecting to Spitting; Viral Video Leads to Auto Driver’s Arrest in Thane

A road rage incident outside a mall in Thane turned violent after an auto-rickshaw driver allegedly assaulted a senior citizen who objected to him spitting and gargling on a public road.

According to reports, the elderly man requested the driver not to spit on the road, following which an argument broke out and quickly escalated into a physical altercation. The driver allegedly attacked the senior citizen, leaving him with serious injuries, including a fractured leg.

The injured man was rushed to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

A video of the incident later surfaced on social media and went viral, triggering widespread outrage and demands for strict action against the accused.

In a subsequent development, two individuals claiming to be associated with a political youth wing confronted the auto driver and allegedly assaulted him before handing him over to the Vartak Nagar Police Station.

Following the viral video, local Shiv Sena workers also reportedly helped trace the accused and alerted the police.

Police have taken cognisance of both incidents and arrested the auto-rickshaw driver. A case has been registered, and investigators are examining the sequence of events based on video footage and witness statements.

Authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.

The incident has reignited concerns over road rage, public behaviour and the safety of senior citizens in public spaces.
