00:53the ceasefire agreement in effect since last year.
01:04Hello, welcome to Front the South. I am Lorena Fong from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela. We begin with
01:10the news, stay with us.
01:27We begin now with the information. In Peru, vote counting is underway, and according to the latest report from the
01:33National Office of Electoral Processes, more than 95% of the ballots have already been tallied.
01:39Candidate Roberto Sánchez for the Together for Peru Party took over the vote count with 50% of the votes,
01:48while Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former dictator Alberto Fujimori, holds 49% of the votes.
01:54In this regard, the National Electoral Processes Office is moving forward with the persisting of the remaining vote counts, but
02:02elections experts warn that immediate final results are not expected.
02:06It is hoped that at the close of voting, both candidates committed to respecting the results.
02:18Candidate Roberto Sánchez also expressed his gratitude to the Peruvian people for their support during the democratic process.
02:26This people has made it this far, against all odds, and here we are. Hope, enthusiasm, and the strength have
02:33brought us this far.
02:35The respectful thing to do is to wait for the result as well.
02:39We are calm, serene, and filled with joy.
02:42Grateful for their popular strength, and the consensus among the leaders who have brought us this far.
02:47We move forward with hope.
03:04In Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed that the United States' blockade is brutal and criminal,
03:10affirming that the Cuban people don't deserve this kind of harassment.
03:14The President denounced that the greatest cruelty of the blockade is its long-standing nature,
03:21lasting more than 60 years now, pointing out the cynicism is that it is accompanied by a manipulative narrative that
03:28seeks to hide the true culprit.
03:30The President further explained that after the second half of 2019, the blockade greatly intensified,
03:37will put Trump imposed 240 new measures ramped up of financial and oil persecution,
03:44and also included Cuba on the list of states' sponsors of terrorism,
03:49in the sense that the Trump administration has hardened the measures even more since the start of this year,
03:54while the international community demands an end to the criminal blockade.
04:04The blockade today is brutal, it is simply criminal, it is something the Cuban people do not deserve.
04:13I believe that the most cruel aspect of the blockade, it is long-standing nature.
04:19It has been over 60 years of the blockade,
04:24and the greatest cynicism is how that blockade is accompanied by a narrative that attempts to hide the true culprit
04:32and to distort that reality,
04:37blaming what they have called the violent state
04:42and refusing to take true responsibility for their own policies of maximum pressure,
04:47which have now unleashed a crisis of unprecedented magnitude.
04:54The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the affiliate Amistur SA strongly condemned their inclusion
05:01on the United States Treasury Department sanctions list.
05:05In a statement released by its President Fernando González,
05:08the institution described the inclusion as an act of political hostility based on slander,
05:13intended to justify intensifying the economic blockade.
05:17The cap emphasized that the accusations leveled by Washington against the institution are false
05:24and intended to stigmatize it.
05:26The institution also noted that its sole mission has always been to foster understanding,
05:32respectful cooperation and bonds of genuine friendship between Cuba and the peoples of the world.
05:47On Monday, the National Confederation of Education Workers of Brazil donated approximately $33,000 to purchase solar panels and support
05:57the Cuban people.
05:59In a letter to Cuba's Ambassador to Brazil, Victor Cairo, the union stated that the donation is intended to provide
06:06assistance
06:06during the difficult times that the Caribbean nation is experiencing due to the United States' intervention in Cuban affairs.
06:13According to the Confederation, the blockade threats of intervention and all forms of extortion promoted by the United States,
06:21especially under the Trump administration, must be condemned by peace activities worldwide.
06:27This donation is one of many expressions of solidarity with Cuba from Brazilian organizations and friends of the island
06:34amid the intensification of the blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation over 65 years ago.
06:49In Cuba, the National Assembly of People's Power takes the necessary measures to address
06:55the crisis caused by the United States' intensified blockade of the island,
07:00making significant changes to the country's national institutional structure.
07:04The first proposal updates regulations regulated to workers' rights and duties regardless of their sector.
07:12The second bill aims to properly regulate, manage and administer land as a fundamental means of production.
07:18Furthermore, the Housing Bill establishes ways in which the States ensures the right to adequate housing
07:24and a safe living environment.
07:27On the other hand, on the organization of the Central State Administration,
07:31it was determined the number, name, mission and functions of its ministries and agencies.
07:45And in Turkey, Venezuela's acting President Delsi Rodriguez held a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
07:53This official meeting is the cornerstone of Rodriguez's international tour,
07:57which aims to evaluate and deepen the strategic alliance between Caracas and Ankara.
08:02After a successful visit to India, the Venezuelan leader was met by President Erdogan to discuss further cooperation.
08:10The discussions focused on expanding joint investments in key sectors such as energy, trade and technology.
08:17Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to geopolitical solidarity and mutual development,
08:22consolidating a strategic partnership that continues to strengthen amid global economic shifts.
08:35And now we have a show break coming up, but we'll be right back.
08:38Stay with us.
09:05Welcome back to From the South.

10:58and was hoping to make history at the World Cup by becoming the first Somali to referee a match in
11:04FIFA's premier international tournament.

11:13following proclamations issued by the Donald Trump administration.

12:27while maintaining an atmosphere of calm and normal daily activity.

12:38reflecting the deeply spiritual and pastoral nature of its historic visit.
12:42The trip also coincides with Barcelona's celebration of the Year of Gaudi,
12:47marking the centenary of the architect's desk,
12:50with the iconic Basilica of the Sagrada Familia standing at the centerpiece of the events.
