00:00The Bolivian Workers Union decided to radicalize its pressure measures against Decree 5503 after
00:17several failed attempts at dialogue with the government. This Tuesday Honduran National
00:25Electoral Council member Marlon Oshawa made statements during a press conference in which
00:30he announced that they would file a new complaint if a declaration is made without counting all
00:36the votes. And Israeli occupation troops continue the bombardment of several areas of the Kassel
00:45Strip despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement. Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra
00:54Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:10The Bolivian Central Workers Union intensified protests to pressure the government to repel
01:16neoliberal Decree 5503 which eliminates fuel subsidies. On Monday, on the eighth day of protest, a group of
01:24people affiliated with the Bolivian Central Workers Union set up at least the three hunger strikes
01:30picket lines after the government confirmed it would not repel Supreme Decree 5503. These were
01:37set up at the headquarters of the Trade Union Federation of Bolivian Mine Workers at the COB
01:42headquarters and the third at the teachers union in La Paz. While the Rodrigo Paz government rejects the
01:48protest and insisted that the best way forward is dialogue to clarify the aspects of Supreme Decree 5503,
01:56Bolivians say they will not hand over the country to neoliberalism.
02:08And now we go to Honduras. This Tuesday, Honduran National Electoral Council member Marlon Ochoa
02:23made statements during a press conference in which he announced that they would file a new complaint
02:30if a declaration is made without counting all the votes. In this regard, Ochoa reported that there are still
02:36municipalities where appeals have not been resolved. The councillor also recounted the events of December
02:4329th regarding the special vote counts while denouncing that the secretary general and councillors are
02:50altering public documents. He also confirmed that the role of the councillors is to ensure that the
02:58will of the people is to be respected. Ochoa also stated that the councillors feel protected by the cloak of
03:04impunity provided by the foreign interference.
03:14We say in Honduras, Luis Redondo, President of Parliament, described the performance of the electoral
03:19party as a disaster and a national disgrace and requested a rigorous investigation from the public
03:25ministry. The legislator once again presented evidence that would constitute clear electoral fraud,
03:31such as proof of vote manipulation, inconsistencies in records and administrative decisions he
03:37described as illegal. He clarified that the complaints have already been submitted to the
03:43public prosecutor's office with the necessary documentation and requested a transparent and
03:48independent investigation of the entire process. Coinciding with the complaint,
03:53Councilor Marlon Ochoa published on his social networks a series of records showing that in the
03:59central district, the Libre Party defeated the national party by an overwhelming margin.
04:05Councilor Marlon Mexico第二 of Catalog能 ficulado
04:15Mustafa Ab succeeded.
04:16From this state authority, I strongly call on the public prosecutor's office to
04:20act in accordance with the law on the basis of the complaints that have already been filed
04:28In which there are several irregularities, therefore, the declaration of illegality without complying with the electoral procedure denying the special count, without any justification, without reviewing each and every one of the votes receiving votes are requested by two political parties, both the Liberal Party and the Liberal Party.
04:58Therefore, leaving all citizens who went to vote and those who participated as candidates and in a state of defenselessness, violating the sovereign will expressed at the ballot box.
05:15In this context, the President of Parliament also reminds us that one of the powers of Parliament is to take control of the electoral process if the body designated for that purpose does not fully assume the task.
05:28If the declaration that is made or the elected declaration does not comply with the requirements of the law and there is a desire to impose it here through media pressure,
05:45or with the support of the criminal groups that were part of the electoral process and an illegal declaration is to be imposed.
06:03The Constitution of the Republic establishes, in Article 205, that the National Congress has the following powers, number seven, to count the votes and declare the election of the President to designate to the presidency debities to the National Congress and the Central America Parliament when the National Electoral Council has not done so.
06:31In this sense, the Liberal Party declared that it will not recognize the shared results of the November 30th election and called on the population to a permanent peaceful insurrection.
06:44The Liberal Party called on its members and Honduran citizens to remain vigilant and active in the post-election process and to support the measure of Tegucigalpa, Jorge Aldana.
06:55In this context, Aldana denounced the fact that the National Electoral Council has not yet counted all the votes in the Central District.
07:03In this regard, the Liberal Party candidate, Rixi Moncada urged for support for Jorge Aldana's major victory in the capital.
07:12Moncada accused the authorities of electoral fraud and of violating the Constitution, stating that they mocked the people by failing to guarantee transparency in the process.
07:22And now we go to Argentina. On Monday, a federal judge declared the anti-picket protocol implemented by the government of President Javier Millet to be new and void, arguing that it has flaws in its legal structure.
07:41Judge Martin Cormac ruled that the protocol promoted by Patricia Bullrich, while she was head of the Ministry of Security, undermined the constitutional right to freedom of protest.
07:53In this regard, the judge issued a ruling detailing all the inconsistencies in the government's manual for suppressing social protest.
08:01The ruling questions whether the protocol enabled methods for recording protesters' biometric data and action aimed at discouraging citizen participation and disciplining demonstrators.
08:12In addition, the ruling cast doubt on the definition of non-lethal use of force established in the Manual for Disparison Protest.
08:20And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at telazulenglish where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and much more.

08:50Welcome back to From the South.
09:00We go to the United States.
09:02The Southern Command confirmed the execution of a new lethal attack against the vessel in international waters of the Eastern Pacific under the products of combating drug trafficking.
09:12The strike, ordered by World Secretary Pete Heseth and also executed by Joint Task Force Southern Sparrow, left at least two people dead.
09:21Analysts point to this new attack, which took place outside of its territorial jurisdiction, as another serious violation of international law by resorting to use of lethal force in international waters and without the approval of multilateral organizations.
09:37Critical voices warn that these actions aim to resolve problems and normalize the extrajudicial use of force.
09:52Meanwhile in Venezuela, the country consolidated its position as the country with the highest economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean during 2025 with a 6.5% increase in gross domestic products.
10:04According to a report issued by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the boost is due to stronger domestic demand and robust consumption, which has revitalized the country's industrial and commercial sectors.
10:19Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro described the achievement as a victory for the country's productive forces obtained in the midst of financial siege and unilateral coercive measures imperious by the United States government.
10:32For her part, while commenting on the feed, Venezuelan vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of national productive unity in the face of ongoing foreign threats.
10:44What we have seen here is the model.
10:51What we have seen here is the model. This is the model that President Nicolás Maduro asked us to build from the communes, from the communal circuits to defeat and quell the economic blockade against Venezuela.
11:02What have we seen here? A distribution center for dried fruits and nuts. A well-stocked store. It can even serve as a distribution center for other stores in the capital city.
11:17But we have also seen a port dismembering plant and I want to stop here. The pigs come from a commune in Apura and they come from two places. One from 23 de enero, which we showed in the 23 de enero buildings below where pigs are grown.
11:34Well, those pigs come here and are processed in this processing center, but they also come from the Caracas-La Guaira corridor.
11:41The pigs arrived there sent by President Nicolás Maduro to continue along this path, where cities and territories become self-sufficient in their food supply.
11:56We have to protect ourselves from the threats of the current U.S. government. In the face of the aggressions of the current United States government, Venezuela's response must be productive unity.
12:07The response of Venezuela must be productive unity.
12:27In Venezuela, Rio Caribe is located in Sucrastate, in the northern part of the region of the country.
12:34And this coastal town is home to centuries of history and living traditions.
12:38The streets, its people, also its seaside landscape tell stories of identity, culture and nature. More in the following material.
12:51The name Rio Caribe reflects both its geography and the heritage of the indigenous people.
12:56And now we go to Cuba. On Monday, during the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, ICAP, nearly 300 delegates from 32 countries made clear the relevance of Commander Fidel Castro's legacy.
13:20The event, attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and also several members of the Communist Party Central Committee, served to reaffirm ICAP's commitment to build bridges, unite wills and cultivate peace, friendship and solidarity among peoples.
13:36Following the guidance of Commander Fidel Castro's thoughts. In this scenario, the president of the institution, Fernando González Jordi, recalled that for more than six decades, ICAP has encouraged the creation of solidarity committees on all five continents and has hosted important international events, in addition to facilitating meetings that are vital to the struggle of the peoples.
14:00Let us set out to reach all the grassroots organizations where our people are present. Inspired by the example of Fidel, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Commander-in-Chief, let us follow his example of conviction and organization, of dedication, and perseverance in the cause, to make political and material solidarity a reality.
14:25In other news, Haiti's provisional electoral council confirmed on Monday that the first round of presidential and legislative elections in the country will be held on August 30, 2026.
14:37The announcement comes despite changes made by the presidential transition council to the draft electoral decree.
14:44The organization clarified that the timeline remains in effect, although its implementation will depend on minimum security and financing conditions throughout the national territory currently affected by the presence of armed groups and institutional fragility.
14:59And now we have a second showbreak coming up. Don't go away, we'll be right back.
