00:00First turn crash, not involving Cooper.
00:02Trying to figure out what happened here.
00:04Yeah, it looks like Aaron Plessinger in the middle of that screen.
00:06He's going to tuck the front end and go down.
00:09And he was kind of far up front.
00:10That's what caused the rest of the passes.
00:12And then the next one is going to be Cooper Webb.
00:17Yeah, Cooper Webb goes down.
00:19If you watch this start again, he actually goes down before he even gets to the first corner.
00:23So a tough break for him, but obviously have another chance.
00:26And then Justin Cooper.
00:27I believe he's Mikkel Harrop going down and then watch Justin Cooper go down.
00:32Nowhere to go.
00:33And unfortunately for him, he hits hard.
00:35And this is that tough spot that we were in while we needed to red flag it because of the
00:39position he was in.
00:40But, yeah, nothing Justin can do.
00:42Just erase an incident.
00:43Hopefully it gets well soon.
00:48And you see Plessinger.
00:49He's banged up from that first turn crash.
00:51Katie, what have you heard?
00:52Yeah, AP is moving quite slow over here.
00:54Taking some deep breaths.
00:55You can see him there holding his right shoulder.
00:56Turns out he was in that first turn crash.
00:58Got hit on some bikes.
01:00The team is saying that adrenaline is dropping and he's obviously starting to feel it.
01:03The bike itself is in good working condition.
01:05But AP, on the other hand, there's a question mark there.
01:09Oh, yeah, Katie.
01:10The adrenaline only lasts so long.
01:12So we'll see if he can grind out this moto with the restart.
01:16As for Cooper, this will be the first moto of his 450 career that he has not been able to
01:22start.
01:23He has showed up for every single pro motocross race in his pro career that's scheduled.
01:28One time he did crash out of the 250 class in qualifying.
01:32But he is Mr. Consistent.
01:33But unfortunately, that streak ends today.
01:41Restart time.
01:42450 moto to the superstars of SMX back on the gate.
01:46The first start, it was the Lawrence Brothers Hunter and Jet 1-2.
01:50And there was a crash.
01:51Justin Cooper attended to by medics.
01:53Awake and alert.
01:54But no longer in the race.
01:55They had to tend to him.
01:56And now the racetrack is ready to, as they say in the racing business, go hot again.
02:02Watch that number 26.
02:03Jorge Prado all the way on the outside.
02:06Engine let go late in the first race.
02:08That resulted in a subpar finish.
02:11And consequently, a bad gate position for him.
02:13He's a great starter.
02:14But he's all the way on the right.
02:17See Jet Lawrence.
02:18First moto winner.
02:20First gate pick toward the inside of the number one.
02:24Reset.
02:25Ready to go again.
02:25All right.
02:26The Hondas had the start the first time.
02:28Can they replicate it?
02:30There they are.
02:32Hunter and Jet.
02:33Deegan just on their inside.
02:35Here it is.
02:35Rubs are up.
02:37Gates down.
02:45Cooper Webb from down to the first turn to a hole shot off the restart.
02:50Jet and Hunter right behind him.
02:52That is Cooper Webb right there.
02:54Like down on the first corner.
02:55If Jet tries to slide up the inside, makes that move.
02:57But last guy on the first lap before the restart and hole shots his moto, Cooper Webb.
03:03Rolls a reverse for Hunter Lawrence now.
03:06Jet Lawrence is out front.
03:07Now if I'm Hunter Lawrence, I've got to get around Cooper Webb if I want to make a pass on
03:11Jet Lawrence.
03:12At least keep him in sight.
03:12I'm not sure where Hayden Deegan is.
03:15I'm not sure where Hayden Deegan is.
03:16Good start for the Ducatis.
03:17Both Barsha and Ferrandez coming through next as Hunter trying to work Webb over it.
03:21It's roll reversal, like you said, with the brothers on the restart.
03:24Yeah, you can see Jet Lawrence is already trying to put out.
03:27And if you watch the body language in that first one before the Red Star, he was looking back.
03:32You know, just saying like, all right, Hunter, I know he's going to be strong.
03:34Let me be here.
03:35Now he's trying to put that gap in there because he knows how strong his brother is.
03:39Hunter Lawrence goes past Cooper Webb.
03:41Picks the bike up, wheelies down the downhill.
03:44Look at Webb fighting back, the three-time Supercross champion.
03:47Not messing around here in motocross.
03:50Yeah, he was able to get past him, but Cooper had a better line on that outside.
03:54So he had that momentum.
03:55That's how the Lawrence slides up the inside of him now.
03:59So the Lawrence is 1-2.
04:01Barsha, Sexton, Ferrandez, Tondal, Hefshire, Marchbanks, Deegan, top 10.
04:09All right, here we go.
04:12Nice line by Hunter right there.
04:15So the damage in lap one, 1.4 seconds.
04:18The distance between the brothers.
04:20Hunter already starting to close back up.
04:22Yeah, he knows.
04:23Like, he saw what happened that first race with Jet Lawrence, like being out front.
04:27And he knows how good his brother is.
04:29And if anybody knows how he's feeling, Hunter does that.
04:32So see if he has the same tendencies as what he had last year.
04:36Last year he was trying to apply the pressure, but he would kind of let Jet
04:40settle in.
04:40I believe Hunter is a different rider.
04:42So if I'm him, we're going to keep it clean.
04:44But I want to attack my brother right now.
04:46I want to be in front of him.
04:47I feel like if I can, probably the fitness is more on my side.
04:51I've been racing all year, but I've got to get in front of him with the number one.
04:56And they're quickly rolling away from everyone else.
05:00Chase Sexton, 2024 champ.
05:02Another good start on the monster Kawasaki.
05:05He's battling Webb for third.
05:07Yeah, that was good for Chase.
05:08He actually was a little bit farther down.
05:10So he's made some passes early in the race.
05:13Good for him.
05:15See if he can pull up.
05:16I believe Cooper Webb, if he gets close up, probably won't fight him too hard.
05:19But we'll find out, JT.
05:20Yeah, this is good to see from Chase Sexton.
05:22You know, he was third on that first start before the red flag.
05:25And I was like, oh, that is so how it's gone for Chase Sexton lately.
05:29He gets a red flag once he finally gets a good start.
05:31But he rebounded here.
05:32Gets another good start.
05:33And that first moto did not go to plan.
05:35Heard reports that he was not very excited about it after the first moto.
05:38So this is an opportunity to kind of turn the tide and get things going back the right direction.
05:42Well, JT, it was interesting.
05:44Right before that restart, I had made a mention to someone that Chase, Hunter, and JT all look so cool,
05:49calm, and collected as though they weren't ruffled at all.
05:51And it's interesting now that Chase is up to fourth.
05:53They also had a great week of testing in California.
05:56They found a little something for him, fine-tuning that suspension for some extra comfort.
06:00But they also got that front end better on angle for him.
06:03And that was really important with the bike, this bike specifically, for him being more comfortable on.
06:08Well, thanks, Katie.
06:09Shows right now he just made the move on web.
06:12And so Sexton is up to third, but already about four seconds back.
06:17Yeah, if I'm Chase Sexton, if I'm struggling with the motorcycle, it's almost a dangerous spot to be in because
06:22you know Jett Lawrence is right there.
06:25And if you feel uncomfortable, it's hard not to want to push for those guys.
06:29You're going to have to push and stay in that top three anyway.
06:31So weird spot for him to be able to find out how this race goes.
06:35But good to see him up here fighting.
06:37And this is Haydeegan running down his seventh position.
06:40He's been basically the same start as he had the first time before the restart.
06:44So not a good start for him.
06:46I believe he got closed off by Hunter Lawrence, but we'll see where he goes to work.
06:50So this is the two-time 250 champ moving up to this 450 class with a lot of hype because
06:56that's what the Teagan family does.
06:57They're not afraid to hype it up.
07:00Solid in the first photo, battled Hunter Lawrence for most of it for second, ended up third.
07:04A little bit worse start here.
07:06But he's about to put these two Ducatis into what he calls a danger zone as he closes in.
07:11Yeah, we know when Hayde's been on the 250, this is his kind of track.
07:15Rough, late in the day.
07:16You know, he feels comfortable in this position.
07:18But this 450 is a different motorcycle.
07:20And I believe a lot of that comes down to how he finishes.
07:24It's going to be how he works on the motorcycle.
07:25Does he make it better?
07:26You've got to improve the bike to be competitive in this 450 class.
07:29We'll see if the Star Racing Yamaha is going to work on it, too.
07:33Got the Red Bull Troy Lee Designs Ducatis right there.
07:37This is Ferrandez, 2021 champ of the series.
07:41They've improved massively since their first pro motocross race last week.
07:47But I don't know if it's enough to hold Deegan off.
07:50Yeah, Hayden's got some lines.
07:51Now, we heard RJ say earlier that he was kind of upset with the Hayden Deegan getting around.
07:56He wanted to get him.
07:57I believe right now, Hayden makes that pass with Dylan.
08:01I'm interested to see how the other riders race him.
08:03Do they try to really ride him in their hearts since he's a rookie?
08:06They want to beat him.
08:07I mean, Hayden's doing a good job of just going past Dylan.
08:10But I'm sure Dylan will try to fight back if he can.
08:16Oh, good battle right here.
08:19Marsha said they changed the bike completely in one week.
08:23Definitely better, I can tell you that.
08:24But still not enough.
08:27Deegan runs him almost into the mechanics area.
08:29Be careful.
08:30That's Bam Bam and Danger Boy.
08:32I think this is a battle people wanted to see.
08:33Yeah, no.
08:34Too aggressive riders.
08:35I wanted to see as well.
08:36Nice save by Hayden, his front-end rebounder out there.
08:39A little Willie save.
08:40But, yeah, for him, I don't even think Justin realized Hayden was even that close.
08:44Because he went outside.
08:45We know Justin doesn't let anybody go around him.
08:47So, Deegan looks a little bit more aggressive this moto.
08:50They shall meet again.
08:52Don't worry.
08:52Deegan now trying to make tracks toward Webb.
08:56That'd be fourth.
09:00Yeah, Chase Sexton right in front of him.
09:03Not too far.
09:09Good line by Hayden right there.
09:11It's not that fast, but it's pretty consistent and be smoother.
09:14They end up being faster towards the end of this race, for sure.
09:17So, these are the teammates of the Monster Yamaha Star Racing Machines.
09:22Oh, Hunter keeping Jet in check.
09:27A little different line by Jet right there.
09:32Chase has ran off the track twice on his lap.
09:35Oh, really?
09:35Yeah.
09:36That shot going down the hill.
09:37He was off the racetrack, and then he was just off the track again right here.
09:40They're settling in, they exceed the track, they know what lines are that they use, and then this is the
09:45opposite.
09:46Is that turning with whoops?
09:48Yeah.
09:49Yeah, it was smooth at the beginning of the day.
09:50That's how much rougher this track has gotten.
09:52Jet has turned it up 157-0.
09:55It's actually two tenths quicker than Hunter the last time around.
09:59His two best laps have been his last two laps.
10:02See if the 96 can respond to that.
10:08Now, figure out how this goes.
10:09Katie?
10:10Looking at the number 96, it reminds me of a conversation that I had with him, and he said his
10:15success over the course of his career, he feels it's a bit of a snowball effect.
10:19He said, knock on wood, I haven't had those major injuries.
10:22I've had momentum.
10:23I've kept training all the way since 2021.
10:26He said he's been plugging away and slowly building.
10:29So, as we've talked about Hunter Lawrence here this last year or so, it's really been a building process for
10:36him, and he's recognized it, especially since he kind of looked back at 2020 when he was going to walk
10:41away.
10:41He thought in the sport he was going to walk away.
10:43So, it's all been a building process since then.
10:46All right, guys, I'm watching this battle.
10:49James, I'm curious on your opinion on this.
10:50I can see a scenario where Jet lets Hunter by here.
10:53And I know that sounds crazy.
10:54Jet's multi-time champion, one of the best riders I've ever seen.
10:57But I just wonder if Hunter really starts to apply some pressure here, how willing is Jet to push?
11:03And how I got to that was on those early laps, like Jet looking behind him immediately.
11:08That's not a positive sign as far as him wanting to go chase Hunter down on that opening lap.
11:13So, I just wonder how much he has left to give here in Moto2.
11:15No, I agree.
11:16I was going to say that.
11:17And I think what we're going to find out, Jet's going to find out as well, is the difference between
11:22Hunter Lawrence last year and this year.
11:23And what we witnessed during the Supercross, Hunter's been in this spot a bunch of times this year.
11:28When he needed to win, he just won.
11:29And kind of looked like he did with Hayde Deegan in that first race.
11:32He can close that gap.
11:33And so, I don't know if it's more Jet letting him by or Jet might not be able to keep
11:37him behind him anyway.
11:39But we're going to find out.
11:40Good response by Jet here.
11:41But Hunter looks like he can do this pretty easy.
11:44And Tom would tell how quickly he closes up as Jet takes a look back.
11:49And again, coming back from injury, maybe isn't quite there.
11:53Hunter on the roughest part of the day to hold his brother off all the way to the end.
11:58You're saying it might not even be a choice.
11:59He might just not be able to, whether he wants to or not.
12:02Because Hunter's riding well, no doubt.
12:04I mean, Jet's riding fine.
12:05They got 10 seconds over Chase Sexton and Hayde Deegan behind him.
12:08So, it's not like Jet's slow.
12:10But I think the pace from Hunter Lawrence and just the difference to me, it looks easy.
12:14And these next couple laps is going to tell the tale.
12:17I believe if Hunter gets on him, puts that pressure, Jet probably will let him by.
12:21And Hunter can rot off in the sunset at least and try to.
12:24Deegan has made the move on Webb.
12:26He's fourth.
12:27About two seconds off of Sexton for third.
12:30So, that will be something to watch as well.
12:33But right now, it's all about the brothers' lords looking to regain control like they were last year.
12:40One, two in the series.
12:41There's Deegan in the bottom box trying to get Sexton.
12:45Yeah, Hayde's starting to close that gap.
12:47He's got around Cooper Webb.
12:48And as I said earlier, JT.
12:52Yeah, I just had an opportunity to speak to Johnny O'Meara.
12:54And I kind of ran my hypothesis by him of, hey, do you think Jet might let him by?
12:58And Johnny's like, no way.
13:00Nope.
13:00Not going to let him do it.
13:02He's like, you know, this is the dynamic every day for them practicing.
13:06They go back and forth.
13:07And they one-up each other all the time.
13:09And they're so competitive.
13:10But that's what drives them.
13:12And he's like, I just don't see it unless Jet simply has to.
13:15There's just no way he's willing to, willingly going to.
13:18Yeah, kind of back to my point.
13:20I don't think he wants to.
13:22But he might not be able to hold them back.
13:23But just like that first moto, if Jet sits here and he starts getting comfortable,
13:27you're starting to notice those little gaps.
13:29He'll start picking away around the racetrack.
13:32And the thing with routers like Jet Lawrence, they're so talented.
13:35Even if there is a problem, he'll figure out how to rout around it.
13:38The thing with Hunter Lawrence, he can't let him figure that problem out.
13:41So it'll be a big move for him.
13:43And as much as Jet doesn't want Hunter to beat him,
13:46I feel like Hunter's in that same spot as well.
13:48You don't want your younger brother coming back from injury
13:51and basically doing what he's been doing the last two years to you as well.
13:55Not only for today, but for this championship as well.
13:57It's true.
13:58We're so deep into the everyone seeing where they are thing of the first round or two
14:03that you could suddenly see this championship zeroing in very quickly on these two.
14:09And it would be absolutely massive if Jet could hold his brother off
14:13even while working his way back from injury.
14:16So there's some urgency for the 96 to not let that happen.
14:19And you can see it right now.
14:23Well, Deegan just went by sixth and easy for third.
14:26Thought we're going to have a battle materializing there.
14:29So Deegan's third.
14:30And here comes Hunter.
14:34Yeah, Hunter's on him right now.
14:35And he knows that.
14:36Jet takes a look back.
14:38Going to see the 96 ain't there because he's a little bit farther on the inside.
14:41Hunter knows that far.
14:42So I believe the move is coming.
14:56I remember their battles back in the 250 days
14:59when they were the up-and-comers in the sport.
15:02Hunter said it so well.
15:03It's like the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park.
15:06I learned, he learns, I learned, he learns.
15:08Every lap they learn from each other and just keep getting better and better.
15:11Yeah, and that's what makes it difficult.
15:13And people wonder why these two have been so dominant the last couple of years
15:18because they run together as Hunter runs off the racetrack.
15:22Now, we noticed that Hayden Deegan was able to get around Chase Sexton.
15:26Chase is going to overjump this, mix the inside,
15:28and, yeah, basically kind of just lets him go.
15:31As I said earlier, Chase is in a hard spot
15:33because he wants to go out to the two in front of him,
15:36and he doesn't have that pace.
15:37It's a hard race for Chase to be in.
15:39Hayden Deegan was coming.
15:40Chase had to let him by.
15:46Now, to me, it seems like Jet is a little bit quicker than Hunter
15:50on the longer part of the race.
15:51So the longer sections, he's a little bit quicker than him.
15:55Anywhere where there's a short speed
15:56or where the G-forces really come down,
15:58like some of these braking bumps,
16:00I noticed that Hunter is able to close in.
16:02But after the finish line, those smooth corners,
16:04the longer sections where Jet can have his time
16:06and jump over the bumps, like he's pretty good.
16:09And I think that comes down to the ankle, his braking power,
16:12and just how he feels on a motorcycle.
16:14So with cat and mouse between these two guys.
16:20Another lap clicks off.
16:22Almost halfway home.
16:27That's Marchbanks in green there with his monster Kawasaki
16:30battling with Ferrandez.
16:33And Webb's in that fight, too.
16:36That's passed by Gary.
16:37Yeah, yeah, really.
16:39There's a needle right there.
16:42Well, what will be interesting here is
16:45Marchbanks is actually going quicker than his teammate Sexton.
16:50And what happens if he starts to close on his teammate?
16:53That's the next rider up the road.
16:55It is fifth for Marchbanks, fourth for Sexton.
17:02Jet stretching that gap.
17:03Yeah.
17:09Almost halfway.
17:10So really going to tell you where Hunter was.
17:12We saw Hayden Deegan, him battling Hayden.
17:15He did the same thing.
17:16It looked like he dropped back.
17:17But Hunter had that pace.
17:18So he's able to close back on Jet.
17:21That tells you enough right there that he's got the pace
17:24and he's going to try to get in.
17:25But it's going to be a long ways to go.
17:27Only halfway there, Katie.
17:28Yeah, just something that I observed here.
17:29Brent Duffy, Hayden Deegan's mechanic over there
17:33had his pit board read 8 plus 2 Jet.
17:37And I thought it was really interesting
17:37because a lot of times they don't designate
17:39what the rider is or who the rider is in front of him.
17:42And it is specifically Jet on that pit board.
17:44So obviously the arrow is going directly ahead at Mr. Lawrence.
17:50Hayden has been shy, but that's his goal,
17:52to beat Jet Lawrence.
17:53But that's a long way to go today.
17:55Yeah, the mechanics, they know they're routers.
17:58They know they're routers.
17:59He knows what motivates you.
18:00Okay.
18:04Just lap tots between the Lawrence brothers.
18:08Jet is pouring it on.
18:10Yes, he is.
18:11Yeah, a little after halfway.
18:13Now you can start to see him.
18:15Hunter, he's building that gap.
18:17And really what it's coming down to,
18:18he's just getting really comfortable.
18:20That was a hard part for Hunter.
18:22If he wanted to get him,
18:24he needed to keep that pressure on him.
18:25And Jet's starting to squeak away now.
18:29Almost to three seconds now.
18:32Going to give you the Rocky Mountain team check-in.
18:35We're going to shout out the Liqui Moly Beta team today.
18:37You got Benny Bloss there in 13th.
18:39Mitchell Oldenburg in 30th.
18:41Now, Oldenburg has not raced pro motocross since 2019.
18:45That's their Moto 1 finishes.
18:48Find him out on the track right now.
18:50Oldenburg a lot better here.
18:51He is in 21st.
18:53And Bloss, who I believe had troubles early, is 33rd.
18:57So, that's their second Moto.
18:59But good to see Beta jumping into pro motocross for the first time.
19:04Ran a couple of races with Bloss last year,
19:06but they're full in it this year.
19:09And that's one of the new manufacturers jumping into this game,
19:12along with Gucati and Triumph.
19:13A lot of excitement over new brands jumping into SMX.
19:17But it's one of the oldest.
19:19Honda has it under control right now.
19:21Halfway through this moto.
19:23A reminder to stock up Monster Energy at Grocery Outlet.
19:27And just like that, Chet Lawrence, three and a half seconds is the gap.
19:33Well, the problem is he just ran a 155.3,
19:37which is two seconds faster than Hunter Lawrence,
19:39which jets fast his lap of the race, JT.
19:42Well, this is exactly the same thing he did the first Moto.
19:45As soon as it kind of looked like he was settling in,
19:48I wasn't really sure how this was going to play out,
19:50he turns in some of his best laps of the race.
19:52And I don't know if this is premeditated.
19:55I don't know if this is on purpose where he said,
19:56okay, halfway, now I make my break, now I build my gap,
20:00and then I manage it to the end.
20:01It would be a great question to ask him on the podium
20:03if this was intentional or, like James, you were saying,
20:06he just kind of finds his groove mid-race.
20:08Yeah, I mean, I think both of those are true.
20:10It's intentional, but he also knows who's rotting behind him.
20:13He let his brother stay there.
20:14He's in his comfort spot.
20:16Now, again, Hunter Lawrence,
20:17you might not have the pace of his brother.
20:19It's important for him to just stay close to him
20:22because come Jett Lawrence, maybe Hunter feels like,
20:24hey, and look, he put in that burst of speed.
20:27Like, he won't go any faster.
20:29And if I can stay there and keep him racing behind me,
20:31maybe I can close that gap.
20:32But right now, this kid looks good.
20:36He looks like Jett Lawrence,
20:38but he looks like an incredible amount of progress
20:41in one week's time.
20:44And really, last week, way below his normal pace
20:48in the first qualifying session,
20:50closer to it in the second qualifying session.
20:52Better in the motos, but only third in the end.
20:55And then today, it ends like this.
20:57He'll have the 1-1 and the fastest qualifying time.
21:02It's kind of scarier for everyone else.
21:04Yeah, it is.
21:05And when you look at just what he's doing,
21:07and like I said, that little bit of gap
21:09makes a huge difference.
21:10Now, because Hunter's not close to him,
21:12he's able to slow down,
21:13and he's able to hop over bumps just like he is.
21:15So if you can have somebody,
21:17if Hunter was close to him,
21:18Jett would have to charge down to those sections,
21:20which means he won't be able to hop over that stuff
21:22because Hunter's closing.
21:23And it just changes the way he rides a motorcycle.
21:26You let him out like this,
21:27he's going to be in his comfort zone,
21:29and he is hard to beat that way
21:30because of how good he is.
21:33Yes, he's managed gaps of this distance
21:37marvelously the last couple of years.
21:39Not a guy who usually tries to win the moto by 30 seconds.
21:42He gets it around on that 2-3 second mark
21:45and keeps it there.
21:50Yeah, you see that.
21:52You hear him being very light on the bike,
21:54taking his time.
21:55Now, if Hunter was closer,
21:57he would have to charge into that section.
21:59And that makes it a lot harder on his foot and all that.
22:02So Hunter's keeping that gap there.
22:05I think he's closed a little bit this next lap,
22:07but on this last lap.
22:12Look, I think we know the brothers work together so well.
22:15They're not rivals on the racetrack
22:17as far as anything besides just made the best fan win.
22:21But are we already at a point where Hunter Lawrence,
22:24is this critical for him to try to shut Jett down,
22:26confidence-wise?
22:27I mean, I'm being selfish.
22:30I'm thinking of my brother right here.
22:31I just feel like with Hunter Lawrence,
22:32like he knows how great his brother is,
22:34but he also knows how good he is.
22:36And Jett's on a different level today.
22:38But coming off an injury,
22:39and what we saw last weekend from Hunter Lawrence
22:42and saw from Jett,
22:43I would just have a hard time,
22:45even though I know how good my brother is,
22:47to allow him to beat me this moto
22:48just because it almost feels like
22:50everything that I did all year long,
22:52it was because he wasn't there.
22:54And I know that's not true.
22:55Hunter is better.
22:56But at the same time,
22:57you're only as good as your last race.
22:59And you go to this.
23:00When they race,
23:01Jett's been just a tad better.
23:03So I would just go off to that standpoint.
23:06But at the end of the day,
23:06Hunter Lawrence is going to leave here
23:07with the points lead,
23:09exactly where he needs to be.
23:10So not all is lost,
23:11but I'm selfish.
23:13I want to win.
23:14Yeah, again,
23:15I think if there's any other rider,
23:16you'd say,
23:17oh man, that's going to be tough.
23:18Jett already back in victory lane.
23:20Maybe we don't think of that
23:21as much between the brothers.
23:22See how it turns out.
23:24This is what I wanted to watch.
23:27Could Marchbanks run down his teammate Sexton?
23:30And he is closing.
23:32Sexton a two-minute lap time.
23:33Marchbanks a 1.58.
23:37Yeah, this is a little bit
23:37of where pride comes on the line.
23:39You know what, Chase Sexton?
23:40If anything,
23:41kind of motivate us
23:42when your teammate comes up
23:43because you can't be like,
23:44oh man, the bike's not good
23:45when you get beat
23:46by your own teammate at this point.
23:47But I know it's hard for Chase
23:49because he wants to be winning.
23:50He doesn't care about four plays.
23:52He wants to be up front.
23:53And when you can't do that,
23:54it's just hard to be that same rider
23:56where Garrett wants to be
23:57in that top five
23:58because he's fighting for a lot.
24:00It's a really interesting dynamic
24:01that you're going to see
24:02between these two.
24:04So Garrett,
24:05the move of the season last year,
24:07he took a one-year 250 deal
24:09with Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki
24:11knowing they probably
24:13were not going to continue
24:14to have room for him
24:15in 2026.
24:17But he rode so well
24:18that they found room for him.
24:20And then
24:21they had an opening
24:22on the 450 team
24:23when Jorge Prado chose to leave
24:25and they bumped him up
24:26to the 450 class.
24:27450 factory rides,
24:28not easy to get.
24:29He got it.
24:30So the risk paid off.
24:31He gambled on himself.
24:33And he's riding really well
24:35right now.
24:40Yeah,
24:40Chase is right in front of him.
24:44He's actually got it
24:45back into the 159s
24:46and then March Banks
24:47went from 158
24:48to 159 himself.
24:51Yeah,
24:51that's a little bit
24:52of teammate action.
24:53Jorge Prado,
24:54we haven't talked about him.
24:57Obviously,
24:57they get a great start.
24:59I wonder,
24:59did he go down
25:01or something,
25:02but hopefully
25:03for his sake,
25:04I know he's got a bad start
25:05and I know how difficult
25:05this racetrack is,
25:06but you don't want this finish.
25:09You don't want to be
25:09only start dependent
25:11because what's going to happen
25:12is the guys
25:12like Jet Lawrence,
25:13Hey Deegan,
25:14they're not going to take you
25:15to the serious threat
25:16because they feel like
25:17you're not out front.
25:18They know how to beat you.
25:19So Jorge,
25:20we're not really sure
25:21what happened
25:21in those opening laps,
25:22but tough first moto
25:25and then 15th,
25:26man,
25:26this is a huge shock.
25:27Not only a championship,
25:29but just the momentum.
25:30Yeah,
25:3015th
25:31and that would leave him
25:33all the way back
25:33to 7th
25:34in the championship points
25:35after being 2nd
25:37last week
25:37and 2nd in points.
25:39But he's got some work to do.
25:40He's got Jordan Smith
25:42in 14th.
25:43Smith
25:44and his wife
25:45welcomed their 2nd baby
25:46into the world
25:47on Wednesday.
25:48Right with a jammed wrist.
25:50Heard it a little bit
25:50last week.
25:51He's working hard
25:52on that number 20
25:53to try up,
25:53but here comes Prado.
25:55He got Vince B
25:56freeze right in front,
25:57out of him.
25:582nd in points.
26:00That's Tondel's teammate.
26:01Yeah.
26:02Oh, sorry.
26:03That's
26:03uh,
26:04Freezy's teammate,
26:05Tondel,
26:06417.
26:06They got almost
26:07the same exact number.
26:08The same exact bike.
26:10Cornelius Tondel,
26:11can he hold on?
26:13Because here comes Prado.
26:15I thought Prado
26:15had the pass made.
26:16Good job,
26:17Jordan Smith.
26:18Oh, man.
26:19Diaper prices
26:20don't went up.
26:21We're just adding
26:22another one.
26:22He's going to fight
26:22for these.
26:26Prado all over this track
26:27looking for running room.
26:30Oh,
26:30but the points,
26:31just a terrible
26:32points day for Prado.
26:34It's his chance
26:34to try to claw
26:35a few back.
26:39Yeah,
26:39I know this seems
26:40small,
26:40but I think he's
26:41important.
26:42These passes
26:42are really important
26:43for Jorge.
26:44Not for the
26:45championship-wise.
26:46I mean,
26:46obviously it's
26:47important for that,
26:47but really just
26:48that narrative
26:49a little bit.
26:50You don't want
26:50to just be stuck
26:51back here.
26:51We don't want
26:52to end this race
26:52and know that
26:53he didn't go down.
26:54He just finished
26:54behind these guys.
26:55They're riding
26:56really good,
26:56but when you look
26:57at Jorge finishing
26:58second last weekend,
27:00I think just passing
27:00these guys and continue
27:01to move forward
27:02like he just does.
27:03Jordan right there
27:04is a big thing
27:05for him mentally.
27:07Keep pushing forward
27:08even if he ends up 12th.
27:11So that's one pass
27:12on Smith.
27:18And every position
27:19here is one
27:20championship point.
27:21Now he's going
27:22to be facing
27:22a huge hole
27:23in the series.
27:24He didn't score
27:25any in the first
27:26photo.
27:28He's trying to
27:29limit the damage
27:30here.
27:35Tondel
27:35raced a couple
27:36of these last year.
27:38He even tried
27:38Supercross late
27:39in the year
27:40this year.
27:41Rider out of Norway.
27:44Riding pretty well
27:45right now.
27:47I feel like he's
27:48a veteran.
27:48I feel like he's
27:48been around
27:49traveling the world
27:50for a while
27:50but he's seen
27:50as 23 years old.
27:53And here comes
27:53Prado.
27:55The Spaniard.
27:57Yeah, this is key.
27:58Show that he can do
27:59it with the bad start.
28:01Yeah.
28:01And again,
28:02to Jorge's credit,
28:04this track is
28:04difficult to pass on
28:05especially when you
28:06get in these
28:07winning battles
28:08but he's good
28:10enough and has
28:10the pace.
28:11He should be able
28:11to work his way
28:12around him even
28:12though he's riding
28:13really good.
28:14Cornelius that is.
28:16Jorge makes the
28:16pass after that
28:17mistake so keep
28:18pushing four.
28:19He's got about
28:20four seconds to
28:22kill Harup.
28:23Right on,
28:24let go on you.
28:26Keep pushing.
28:27Yep.
28:27Harup, the Danish
28:28rider on the
28:295'11 triumph.
28:32It'll be 12-10.
28:33Prado dig out
28:34a top 10.
28:35Right now it's
28:36Lawrence Lawrence
28:36Deegan, Sexton
28:38has stabilized
28:39that gap
28:40with Marchbanks
28:42they're both
28:42running 158s.
28:44Ferrandez sixth.
28:46Hampshire, Craig,
28:47Webb, Barsha,
28:48Guillaume,
28:50Harup and then
28:51Prado back to
28:52Webb on the
28:54two with Hampshire
28:54on the 24th.
28:59Yeah, we're just
28:59checking in on
28:59lap time.
29:00It looked like
29:00we lost air
29:01and so obviously
29:02that shoulder
29:03was a little bit
29:03worse.
29:04Seven laps down
29:04he must have
29:05pulled off earlier.
29:05We actually
29:07that's right
29:07that was in a box
29:08we saw that
29:08real quick
29:09in the
29:09Tallinnah today
29:10it has been
29:10back on a season
29:12for the Cowboy
29:13there, the
29:13seven of
29:14Plessinger
29:16injuries in
29:17Supercross
29:17and then more
29:18trouble today.
29:20As for
29:21Hampshire
29:21he's working
29:22on a new deal
29:23with this team
29:23Rockstar
29:24Esparta
29:24but then they
29:25have announced
29:25they will not
29:25return to
29:26racing in
29:272027
29:28so we asked
29:29him about
29:29trying to
29:30work on
29:30something else.
29:34It sucks
29:35it really does
29:36because this
29:36was a spot
29:37that I
29:38wanted to
29:39retire at
29:39I love races
29:41that we get
29:41to work with
29:42week in and
29:43week out
29:44but there's
29:45always a boss
29:46that you have
29:46to answer to
29:48and that's
29:48what it came
29:49down to
29:49so yeah
29:52there's been
29:53a lot of
29:53phone calls
29:54I've represented
29:54myself
29:55so I was
29:56an agent
29:56and a rider
29:58here the
29:58last couple
29:58months
29:59and learned
30:00a lot
30:01the thing
30:02that I've
30:02learned the
30:02most though
30:03is growth
30:05comes from
30:06being uncomfortable
30:06and that's
30:07where I'm at
30:08right now
30:09I had so much
30:10comfort here
30:10with this team
30:11and feel like
30:13this next step
30:14in growth
30:14is where I'm
30:15at and I'll
30:16land on a
30:17good team
30:17connection
30:20Yeah that was
30:21a bummer
30:21from all
30:22certainly your
30:22brother Malcolm
30:23who had a
30:23two year deal
30:24he's also
30:25now going
30:25to be on
30:25the market
30:26a couple
30:26of the
30:27250 riders
30:27on that team
30:28we hear
30:28will most
30:29likely be
30:30absorbed into
30:31an expanded
30:31KTM
30:32250 effort
30:33and then a lot
30:34of rumors
30:35Husqvarna said
30:36they will still
30:37provide parts
30:37to a team
30:38if a team
30:39is willing
30:39to lease
30:40them
30:40so a couple
30:41teams scrambling
30:42to maybe
30:42take over
30:44wouldn't be
30:45the full
30:45factory Husqvarna
30:46effort next year
30:47but to get
30:47some good
30:48support next year
30:49we'll see
30:49how that turns
30:50out
30:51and we'll see
30:52where it turns
30:53out for the
30:5324
30:53because he's
30:54shown on the
30:54450 he could
30:55be a player
30:57yeah
30:58tough position
30:59to be in
30:59and we all
31:01understand business
31:02things gotta happen
31:03but I know for sure
31:04it'd be tough
31:05because these guys
31:06are risking their
31:07lives out here
31:08and you know
31:09RJ
31:09he's gonna be RJ
31:10no matter what
31:12so he'll land
31:13on his feet
31:14along with my
31:14brother as well
31:15but I'm sure
31:16it's tough
31:16for him
31:16Nate Ramsey
31:18all these guys
31:20last night
31:20they want
31:21but they'll be
31:22back
31:22yeah
31:23Nathan
31:23the team
31:23manager
31:24over there
31:24great racer
31:25in his own
31:25right
31:30the hope
31:31I think
31:32is a lot
31:32of the staff
31:32might get
31:33absorbed
31:33into that
31:34larger
31:34KTM
31:35250 team
31:36they're only
31:36running
31:36one
31:36250 rider
31:37right now
31:38and they'll
31:39probably expand
31:40to four riders
31:41next year
31:41and that might
31:42give the likes
31:43of Benick
31:44and Ryder
31:45DeFrancisco
31:46a place
31:46not sure
31:46what's gonna
31:47happen
31:47for Cochran
31:47or your brother
31:49Malcolm
31:49or for RJ
31:50RJ's gotta
31:50keep hustling
31:51because Cooper
31:52Webb is still
31:53fighting behind
31:53him
31:54back to the
31:55leader
31:55look
31:56Jet Lawrence
31:56has done
31:57so many
31:59mind-blowing
31:59things the last
32:00couple of years
32:01but to come
32:02from where he
32:02was last week
32:03to winning
32:03that's gonna
32:04rank right up
32:04there
32:05JT
32:05what do you
32:05got
32:06you know
32:07the White House
32:08has been releasing
32:08these alien files
32:09I don't know
32:10if you've been
32:10paying attention
32:11to that
32:11but I found
32:12Jet Lawrence's
32:13name there
32:13he's back
32:14to being the alien
32:15I would say
32:15James Stewart
32:16there too
32:16so if you're
32:17there at home
32:18go on that
32:19website
32:19check these guys
32:20out
32:20because the
32:21point is
32:22what we're
32:22seeing
32:22this isn't
32:24normal behavior
32:24this is not
32:25what you would
32:26expect
32:26and James
32:27I know
32:27I'm qualifying
32:28you came back
32:29from a torn ACL
32:30and went 24-0
32:31I know
32:32but to be
32:33this good
32:34this fast
32:34I wasn't even
32:35sure if he was
32:36gonna win
32:36in the month
32:37of June
32:37and here we are
32:38at the second
32:38round and he's
32:39on the cusp
32:39of going 1-1
32:40it's truly a
32:41remarkable
32:42round if
32:43he can clear
32:43Vince
32:44freeze
32:44yeah
32:45no
32:45I'm
32:46with you
32:46JT
32:47I mean
32:47the way
32:48this race
32:48is
32:48and
32:49you know
32:49game recognized
32:50game
32:51and this kid
32:51has a lot
32:52of games
32:52I mean
32:53his brother does
32:53as well
32:54but I'm with you
32:55I'm just
32:55impressed
32:56I was excited
32:57I was excited
32:57about these
32:57two
32:58battle
32:58and this
32:59moto
32:59because
32:59of those
33:00types
33:00of things
33:01and it
33:01just shows
33:01me
33:01the heart
33:02of this
33:03kid
33:03and Hunter
33:04Lawrence
33:04is still
33:04there
33:05he's still
33:05fighting
33:05but
33:07this kid
33:08is good
33:09this kid
33:09is good
33:10and just
33:10the recovery
33:11from last
33:12weekend
33:12to this
33:13weekend
33:14and just
33:14really
33:15finding his
33:16flow
33:16but Jason
33:17I think
33:17it came back
33:18down to
33:18that one
33:19lap
33:20I believe
33:20that is
33:21what makes
33:22Jet Lawrence
33:23and why
33:23he's able
33:23to do
33:24what he's
33:24doing today
33:24is from
33:26one lap
33:26a minute
33:27and 54
33:27seconds
33:28is what
33:28kind of
33:28changed
33:29the way
33:29this guy
33:30is
33:31and having
33:32that belief
33:32because
33:32like I said
33:33earlier
33:34as a rider
33:35and an athlete
33:35you want to
33:36at least be able
33:37to come back
33:37from an injury
33:38and do the same
33:38thing that made
33:39you who you are
33:40and Jet Lawrence
33:41riding like this
33:42he was able
33:43to find that
33:43speed
33:44the way he
33:44looked doing it
33:45allows him
33:46when Hunter Lawrence
33:47is there
33:47to be able
33:48to drop down
33:48two seconds
33:49and be like
33:49I'll just go
33:50fast
33:50even though
33:51I'm uncomfortable
33:51but I think
33:52that was found
33:53in practice
33:53today
33:54and that's
33:55why he's the
33:56champion
33:56won a lot
33:57of races
33:57in the square
33:59coming back
34:00from a broken
34:00talus
34:01that's a bone
34:02right at the
34:02ankle and foot
34:03and notoriously
34:05difficult to heal
34:06a bad
34:07blood flow
34:09and a lot
34:10of people
34:10since 12 months
34:11maybe before
34:11you could recover
34:12maybe 100%
34:13is never possible
34:14but to be able
34:15to be competitive
34:16he did it in six
34:17and
34:18even had a
34:20little hiccup
34:20there
34:20and had to
34:21get one
34:21of the screws
34:21changed out
34:23but despite
34:24that
34:24showed up
34:25around one
34:26wasn't quite
34:27at his normal
34:27pace
34:27but still good
34:28enough to get
34:29third
34:29and right
34:30back on top
34:32in one week's
34:33time
34:34and just to add
34:36on that
34:36I believe
34:37what makes it
34:37more impressive
34:38and why I'm
34:38so impressed
34:39with Jay
34:39it's not that
34:40he came back
34:41to this injury
34:42I mean a lot
34:42of these guys
34:43come back
34:43from gnarly
34:44injuries
34:44we have broken
34:45nests
34:45I mean look
34:46Julian Vermeer
34:46and that
34:47two-degree class
34:47they're all
34:48talented
34:48they can do it
34:49but when you're
34:50on this level
34:51you show up
34:51at a race
34:52that you haven't
34:52raced all year
34:53long
34:53he's been out
34:54for almost a year
34:55when you look
34:55at how long
34:56he's been off
34:56the motorcycle
34:57at least a long
34:57time
34:58you show up
34:58at the first race
34:59you get no grace
35:00period
35:01so we showed
35:02up last weekend
35:03after the race
35:04and how things
35:04look
35:05we were asking
35:05the question
35:06you know
35:07people were
35:07will he ever
35:08be the same
35:08right
35:09is he human
35:09is this it
35:10and for him
35:12to respond
35:13just I'm impressed
35:14mentally
35:15because you don't
35:16understand how
35:16difficult that is
35:17to be in the
35:18position where he is
35:19it's like being
35:20sick or hurt
35:20at work
35:21and expected
35:22to come in
35:22and do your
35:23best performance
35:24nobody gives you
35:25any kind of leeway
35:25and this guy
35:26is doing that
35:27and that's what
35:28makes this ride
35:29so impressive
35:31checking in here
35:32with Sexton
35:33who did not want
35:34to get caught
35:34by his teammate
35:35Marchbank
35:36so he started
35:36digging
35:37and he's closing
35:39in a little bit
35:39on Deegan
35:40this will be
35:41for third
35:41at the moto
35:41Deegan's going
35:42to be third
35:42overall today
35:43either way
35:46yeah you kind
35:47of saw that
35:47one come in
35:48I mean Chase
35:49like I said
35:50earlier
35:50it's not that
35:51he's not trying
35:52but he wants
35:52to be up there
35:53with those two
35:53leaders
35:54Garrett Marchbank
35:55is the reason
35:56why he continues
35:57the fight
35:57and I think
35:58he's closing in
35:59on Hayden Deegan
36:00just by default
36:01because of how
36:01Garrett's riding
36:02but nonetheless
36:03great ride
36:04by the Kawasaki
36:04hopefully they can
36:05build off that
36:06because they're
36:07going to have to
36:07if they want to
36:08compete with these
36:08two riders
36:09HRC Honda
36:10and it's the last
36:11lap and it's over
36:12now
36:12big lead
36:12for Chet
36:13and it's going
36:15to be a reset
36:16one win for Hunter
36:17one win for Chet
36:18heading into round
36:19three
36:19live coverage of
36:21that on NBC
36:21next weekend
36:22and to just
36:23spice it up a little
36:23more
36:24got the two
36:25you've got the
36:25brothers here
36:26you've got the
36:27twins
36:27coming over
36:28from Belgium
36:29the Kunin brothers
36:30Lucas will be
36:31racing the
36:32450 class
36:33he's points leader
36:33at MXGP
36:34450 class
36:35overseas
36:36and
36:37his brother
36:38Sasha will be
36:39racing the
36:40250 class
36:41as points leader
36:43in MXGP
36:44in the
36:44250 class
36:45there
36:45so that will
36:46be very interesting
36:47to throw them
36:47in the mix
36:48next weekend
36:49Thunder Valley
36:52but Chet
36:53Lawrence
36:53is going to be
36:54the headline
36:54today
36:56just like
36:57old times
36:57yep
36:58just like
36:58old times
36:59very impressive
36:59when I heard
37:00that the
37:01Kunins were
37:02coming over
37:02here
37:02I was actually
37:03kind of surprised
37:04because this
37:04guy is leading
37:05the MXGP
37:06world championship
37:07and it just
37:08shows you
37:08like how
37:09like they want
37:10to come here
37:11and race
37:11and both
37:12series are
37:12great
37:12but for him
37:13to be taking
37:14that chance
37:14to come to
37:15a different
37:15country
37:16to race
37:17over here
37:17leading a
37:18championship
37:19that I know
37:19he wants
37:19to back
37:20up
37:20it shows
37:21you how
37:21they want
37:22to go
37:22after Jet
37:22Lawrence
37:23and
37:23they kind
37:24of understand
37:25that the
37:25opportunities
37:25now
37:27just makes
37:27next week
37:28even more
37:28exciting
37:29and it'll
37:29be a different
37:29track
37:30different
37:30challenge
37:31for Jet
37:31Lawrence
37:31Hunter Lawrence
37:32is great
37:33but right now
37:34it's number
37:34one
37:35yep
37:36number one
37:36is number
37:37one
37:38what a
37:38difference
37:38a week
37:39makes
37:39rode a little
37:40bit this
37:41week
37:41not as much
37:42as normal
37:43not as much
37:43as Hunter
37:44didn't ride
37:44press day
37:45like you said
37:46there were a
37:46lot of signs
37:47that oh
37:47maybe this is
37:48not going
37:49very well
37:49for the
37:50number one
37:50until that
37:52lap time
37:52in qualifying
37:53and now
37:54carrying it
37:55to the
37:55motos
37:55he wins
37:56moto one
37:56he pulls
37:57away in
37:57moto two
37:58gives the
37:59fist pump
38:00toward his
38:00mechanic
38:01it was a
38:02long road
38:02back but we
38:03didn't see
38:03much of that
38:04we only saw
38:04one subpar
38:05race by
38:06his standards
38:06and now
38:07Jet Lawrence
38:08is back
38:08on top
38:09in pro
38:10motocross
38:12all right
38:13champ
38:14ride by
38:14Hunter
38:14Lawrence
38:16as you
38:17know
38:17he's back
38:19yep
38:20he's going
38:20to be dealing
38:20with Jet
38:21all summer
38:21long
38:21here's
38:22Hayden
38:22Deegan
38:22it's going
38:23to be
38:23his first
38:234.50
38:25podium
38:27but about
38:2820 seconds
38:29back
38:29of the
38:30leader
38:30in that
38:30one
38:3320
38:3520
38:3520
38:3620
38:39yeah
38:40yeah
