00:00Good afternoon.
00:01Well, it is the start of meteorological summer, but there are showers around, and it is going
00:06to be turning increasingly wet and windy later on.
00:09So having a look at the bigger picture, we've got low pressure situated towards the north.
00:12That clears a ridge of high pressure on Monday before it turns wet and windy from the north
00:18and west with this deep area of low pressure, and you can see this real squeeze in the isobars
00:23indicating some very strong winds, and we'll have this cold front moving through, bringing
00:27some heavy spells of rain.
00:30But back to the rest of this afternoon, there's spells of rain across north-western England.
00:34That's clearing its way through, and then it is a case really of sunny spells, scattered
00:38showers.
00:39The heaviest of those showers most likely across north-eastern parts of Scotland, with
00:43the best of the fine and dry weather across the far south and east.
00:47It is going to be breezy out there, the strongest winds across the north-west of Scotland, and
00:53here it will feel rather cool, but in the sunshine, further towards the south and east, highs
00:58up to 21 or 22 degrees.
01:02So as we go through Sunday evening then, we'll hold on to a few showers, perhaps merging to
01:06give longer spells of rain across northern parts of Scotland.
01:09A few showers then running into parts of Wales, but with the ridge of higher pressure building
01:13in, that will actually allow those showers to start easing, so many of us seeing clear
01:18skies tonight may even see the northern lights across parts of Scotland.
01:23Otherwise lighter winds out there, temperatures could fall away, we may even see a touch of
01:28grass frost across Scotland, but otherwise milder in the far south.
01:32Lows here of around 10 or 11.
01:36So as we start Monday morning, plenty of sunshine first thing.
01:39We will see a few showers around initially across parts of northern England and Wales,
01:44but the focus for showers really tomorrow is going to be in the afternoon across parts
01:48of East Anglia.
01:49Further out towards the west, the sunshine will be turning increasingly hazy across northern
01:54Ireland and Scotland, with the winds strengthening ahead of this deep area of low pressure out
02:01towards the north and west.
02:03So again, feeling cooler here, especially with that brisk wind, but in the sunshine and lighter
02:08winds towards the far south and east, feeling pleasant, highs again of up to 20 to 22 degrees.
02:16So that band of rain will continue to push in over the afternoon and evening time, so bringing
02:21some heavy spells of rain, but also some strong winds, we could see coastal gales, that will
02:27gradually start moving its way in from the south and east.
