00:00You've been drinking whiskey wrong this whole time.
00:02Here's what the experts do instead.
00:05Brown spirits like scotch, whiskey, or bourbon
00:07are often served in a rocks glass like this one,
00:10but it is not the optimal glass for the job.
00:12The aromas escape out of that wide rim,
00:15and the heat of your hand is actually in contact
00:17with the spirit, which can make the alcohol
00:19taste even more intense.
00:21A Glencairn is designed to fix that.
00:24While your favorite bar or restaurant might have space
00:26for a Glencairn at home, I need one glass.
00:29That's why I use a wine glass.
00:31It has a wide bowl, which means you can get
00:33a really good swirl.
00:34The rim, also wide, you can get your nose
00:37all the way in there.
00:38And additionally, that stem means that your hand
00:40is nowhere near the spirit, so you can't warm it up.
00:43But the best thing about drinking whiskey
00:44out of a wine glass, you already have one of these
00:46in your cabinet.
