00:05When we say a wine is corked, we don't mean that there are little bits of cork actually
00:09floating around in your glass. Corked means that the wine has been affected by a compound called
00:13TCA. This normally comes from cork contamination. The easiest way to spot if your wine is affected
00:18is by smelling it. Corked wine smells like wet cardboard, a damp basement, or a musty towel.
00:24And it's not just the smell that's affected by TCA. The wine will actually taste flat and muted.
