Transcript
00:14In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
00:19We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy, and the love of God.
00:27You give us strength in our challenges, Lord have mercy, you are with us in our weakness, Christ have mercy,
00:34you are turning to good everything for us with your love, Lord have mercy.
00:39May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:46Let us pray, O God, who have made the blood of martyrs, the seed of Christians,
00:51mercifully grant that the field which is your church, watered by the blood shed by St. Charles Roanga and his
00:58companions,
00:59may be fertile and always yield you an abundant harvest.
01:04Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and
01:11ever. Amen.
01:16A reading from the second book of Magabes.
01:21There were seven brothers who were arrested with their mother.
01:25The king tried to force them to taste pigs' flesh, which the law forbids, by torturing them with whips and
01:33scourges.
01:34One of them, acting as spokesman for the others, said,
01:39What are you trying to find out from us?
01:44We are prepared to die rather than break the laws of our ancestors.
01:49With his last breath, the second exclaimed,
01:53Inhuman fiend, you may discharge us from this present life, but the king of the world will raise us up,
02:01since it is for his laws that we die, to live again forever.
02:07After him, they amused themselves with the third, who, on being asked for his tongue, promptly thrust it out,
02:14and boldly held out his hands with these honourable words.
02:19It was heaven that came with his limbs.
02:22For the sake of his laws, I disdain them.
02:26From him I hope to receive them again.
02:28The king and his attendants were astonished at the young man's courage and his utter indifference to suffering.
02:37When this one was dead, they subjected the fourth to the same savage torture.
02:42When he neared his end, he cried,
02:45Ours is the better choice to meet death at man's hands,
02:49yet relying on God's promise that we shall be raised up by him.
02:54Whereas for you, there can be no resurrection, no new life.
02:59The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
03:03Our sword has escaped like a bird from the hunter's net.
03:07Our sword has escaped like a bird from the hunter's net.
03:11If the Lord had not been on our side when men rose against us,
03:16then would they have swallowed us alive when their anger was kindled.
03:20Our sword has escaped like a bird from the hunter's net.
03:24Then would the waters have engulfed us, the torrent gone over us,
03:28over our head would have swept the raging waters.
03:32Our sword has escaped like a bird from the hunter's net.
03:36Indeed, the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.
03:40Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
03:44Our sword has escaped like a bird from the hunter's net.
03:49Alleluia, alleluia. Happy the poor in spirit.
03:51The kingdom of heaven says alleluia.
03:56The Lord be with you.
03:58A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:01Glory to you, O Lord.
04:03Seeing the crowd, Jesus went up the hill.
04:06There he sat down and was joined by his disciples.
04:10Then he began to speak.
04:12This is what he taught them.
04:14How happy are the poor in spirit.
04:17Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
04:19Happy the gentle.
04:20They shall have the earth for their heritage.
04:23Happy those who mourn.
04:25They shall be comforted.
04:27Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right.
04:29They shall be satisfied.
04:32Happy the merciful.
04:33They shall have mercy shown them.
04:36Happy the pure in heart.
04:37They shall see God.
04:39Happy the peacemakers.
04:41They shall be called sons and daughters of God.
04:45Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right.
04:48Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
04:50Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you,
04:53and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account.
04:57Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.
05:01The Gospel of the Lord.
05:03Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:08Today is the feast of the Ugandan martyrs.
05:11And rather than sin and the command of a king who wanted them to do immorality,
05:21they were killed, martyred really, because of their faith.
05:25And there were actually, in this case, it was a group of Catholics and Anglicans
05:29who both suffered martyrdom because of their faith.
05:33And we honour them both because of the fact that they gave their life for Christ.
05:39And a reminder for us that whatever tribulation and challenge we have to face,
05:44God is with us.
05:46Whatever tribulation, whatever challenge, God is there.
05:50And to continue being clear in our objectives of saying yes to God in everything.
06:01Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
06:03To your goodness we have this bread to offer,
06:06which earth has given human hands have made.
06:08It will become for us the bread of life.
06:11Blessed be God forever.
06:32Blessed be God forever.
06:33Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
06:34For to your goodness we have this wine to offer.
06:37Fruit of divine work of human hands, it will become a spiritual drink.
06:41Blessed be God forever.
06:54Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
06:56that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God our Almighty Father.
07:01May the Lord accept this sacrifice from our hands
07:03for the praise and glory of God's name,
07:06for our good and the good of God's Holy Church.
07:12We offer you sacrifice, O Lord, humbly praying,
07:16that as you granted the blessed martyrs grace to die rather than sin,
07:20so you may bring us to minister at your altar in dedication to you alone.
07:26Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
07:29The Lord be with you.
07:31Lift up your hearts.
07:33Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:36It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
07:40always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord Holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
07:46For you are glorified when your saints are praised.
07:51Their very suffering are but wonders of your might.
07:55In your mercy you give ardour to their faith.
07:59In their endurance you grant firm resolve.
08:03And in their struggle the victory is yours through Christ our Lord.
08:07Therefore, all creatures of heaven and earth sing a new song in adoration.
08:12And we, with all the hosts of angels, cry out, and without end we acclaim,
08:18Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:25Hosanna in the highest.
08:27Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:31Hosanna in the highest.
08:34You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
08:37Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
08:39by sending down your Spirit upon them like did you fall,
08:43so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:48At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
08:52he took bread.
08:54And giving thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples saying,
08:59Take this all of you and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for
09:05you.
09:11In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice.
09:16And once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples saying,
09:21Take this all of you and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:26the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:29which will be pulled out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
09:35Do this in memory of me.
09:44The mystery of faith.
09:47Save us, Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free.
09:54Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
09:58we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation.
10:03Giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
10:09Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
10:13we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:18Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity.
10:23Together with Cleo, our Pope, me, your unworthy servant, and all the clergy and the entire people your Son has
10:32gained for you.
10:33Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
10:40and all who have died in your mercy.
10:42Welcome them into the light of your face.
10:46Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
10:51Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed Apostles,
10:55and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
10:59we may merit to be coerced to eternal life,
11:02and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
11:11Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
11:16all glory and honour is yours for ever and ever. Amen.
11:24At the Saviour's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say,
11:28Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
11:32Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11:38Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
11:43as we forgive those who trespass against us.
11:46And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
11:51Deliver us, Lord, from every evil.
11:53Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy
11:57we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
12:00as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
12:06For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.
12:11Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles,
12:15Peace I leave you, my peace I give you.
12:17Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
12:20and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
12:25who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
12:28The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
12:32Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:35Peace be with you all.
12:40Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
12:44Have mercy on us.
12:45Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
12:54Grant us peace.
13:06Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.
13:10Happy are those who accord to the supper of the Lamb.
13:13Lord, I am not worthy, you should enter under my roof,
13:16but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
13:21My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
13:26I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
13:30Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
13:34commonly, spiritually, into my heart,
13:36I embrace you as if you were already there,
13:39and unite myself wholly to you.
13:41Never permit me to be separated from you.
13:45Amen.
13:47Let us pray.
14:00We have received this divine sacrament, O Lord, as we celebrate the victory of your holy martyrs.
14:06May what helped them to endure torment, we pray,
14:11make us in the place of trial, steadfast in faith and in charity,
14:15through Christ our Lord. Amen.
14:17The Lord be with you, and may the peace and the blessing of the Father and of the Son
14:21and of the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain always with you.
14:25Let us go and proclaim the Gospel by our lives.
14:29Thanks be to God, and God bless your day.
