01:20is accurate i when you restructure the contract like that and then you follow it up with it means
01:26nothing and then but but then the question becomes like but then why like why like there has to be
01:32anytime money gets moved there's a why right and it's not hard for teams to go well here's the why
01:39like here's the justification like here we can like lay it all out um i think it is
01:47do i think they were actively pushing miles garrett on the block and like shopping him no i don't think
01:53that was the case at all i think it was well let's open the opportunity basically let's not cut
02:01ourselves off here let's not box ourselves into you know we're we're not going to have the ability
02:07you know we're not it's not it's not going to be possible and you have to remember look the browns
02:13new if anything were to ever present itself because of the fact that miles has agency here
02:19because the fact that he can say you know look i don't want to go to that place i don't
02:23want to go
02:24to this place it skinnies the the horizon when it comes to potential teams right like it's not
02:31bad teams coming to the browns that doesn't mean anything like like miles is going to go to a bad

02:36like he's not going to go someplace where you know he doesn't feel like he has an ability to to
02:41win a
02:41super bowl and maximize the the remaining years of his career and so i think the browns it was an
02:49element of we're going to restructure if something develops it develops but we're we're not going to
02:56push it and but and and now on the flip side of that i will say this about the ramps

03:01very active buyers this offseason and and i mean that from the standpoint of they have checked in on
03:07a lot of situations like aj brown there was a moment where i was like man the rams are going
03:14to make a run at this guy like a real run like aj around might be a he might be
03:19a los angeles ram by
03:21the time this is over and davante adams might get dealt to you know to some other team that didn't
03:27ultimately happen because i think the rams looked at it they said price is too rich for you know for
03:32for
03:32a wide receiver for that position a guy who's you know on the doorstep of 30 showing some decline
03:40in his game like it just wasn't and you know i think there were a number of teams out there
03:44like
03:44aj brown's not going to get a first and you know so that played into it miles is a different
03:48plateau
03:49that's like he's reggie white right like he's reggie white with the eagles when reggie white with
03:55the eagles becomes available teams out there are like okay like we want to get in play bad teams good
04:01teams or you know it's it then be it falls on the player then to decide where their future is

04:08going to go and so i don't i don't know that you know i think the ears were open but

04:14there was an element of management being like hey we're we're completely fine in this you know
04:22iteration of the build if miles garrett is a brown like of course we don't have any problems with that
04:27like he'll go out next season they'll have probably another defensive player of the year season and
04:32even though again and i've and i said this on social media i feel like the feel inside the
04:37organization following the draft was we still have we're one off season away we're still an off season
04:44away and i know that pissed fans off when i said that on social media but i'm gonna i'm gonna

04:50tax it right now for everybody okay when you don't have your quarterback position resolved the rest of
04:57your team is irrelevant your build is not complete if you don't have your quarterback you're not
05:06finished the browns i think had to approach the situation and it's been like this throughout this
05:14off season they have a quarterback room if someone emerges from that quarterback room whether it's
05:19maybe whether it's deshaun watson like who knows if someone emerges great that's awesome but they
05:27cannot leave themselves boxed into a corner where they don't have options heading into the 2027 draft
05:36because it's going to be very quarterback rich the overall quality of the first round of the draft is
05:42going to be amazing even if this rams pick ends up being 32 it's not a normal 32nd pick in
05:49the draft
05:49it's going to be better the quality is going to be better and having some flexibility to resolve
05:58the final piece of your build is is very very important and then on top of it i think browns
06:06fans are going to love jared verse he's a really good player they loved him inside the rams organization
06:12given their window where they're at in terms of wanting to win in the next two seasons if miles
06:19garrett had not been available you could not have peeled jared verse off that that roster for less than
06:25two first round picks and they would have had to have been two good first round picks because straight
06:30up the rams management was like picks don't do anything for us now we need to win now we need

06:36stud he is super soft if you want jared verse who we think is going to be a huge cornerstone
06:42of us
06:43you know our build the next four or five years you better be sending something of of significant
06:48consequence so i kind of think that's how it really shook out between the two teams with that thought
06:54in mind and i was just going to ask you about the time frame here the time frame for miles

06:59matches the rams better than it matches the browns yeah and vice versa correct yeah yes absolutely i i i
07:06will say this there's you can't get away from the fact that um miles is not as unlike anyone else
07:15so like if miles were to again i bring up reggie white because i think reggie white could have played
07:21to 45 and and had double digit sacks in the nfl he was just that that's who he like he
07:26was that kind
07:27of presence on the field it was that kind of player there was that kind of skill set to me
07:33like i'm like
07:33you know somebody asked me actually um late yesterday like do you think miles could play
07:38to like 38 40 i'm like yeah you know realistically the way he takes care of himself the talent he
07:44has
07:44the you know especially being in a situation where say he ends up on a team where the team is
07:51playing
07:51with leads continually and he has an ability to go i'm off the leash like i don't have to worry
07:57like i'm passing every single time yeah absolutely i mean he it kills me to say this but like browns
08:05fans could miles be the first guy to hit 30 sacks next year he plays 17 games yeah he could
08:12because
08:13the rams are going to play in a lot of games where they're going to have leads and the opposing
08:18team's
08:18going to have to pass and he's uncontrollable like he's you have to throw three people at him
08:25just to hope that you can come up with with an element of control and the rams love that because
08:30they had that player aaron donald was that player you had to devote minimum two guys every single play
08:36to keep him from destroying what was going on and that was part of the rams acquisition is that for
08:43like years they looked at their super bowl window they always it was sort of like four pillars it was
08:49like we have matthew stafford we have sean mcveigh we have cooper cup we have um we have aaron donald
08:56and they went through a micro rebuild you don't have cooper you don't have aaron donald
09:00can we refresh that quickly meaning in the window of like two to three years yeah kuka nakua became
09:07the cooper cup and now miles garrett becomes the aaron donald and so in their mind they're like
09:12we've added a couple of years to this plus a guy on defense that if matthew stafford feels worn out
09:19after the 2026 season it's not just sean mcveigh recruiting him anymore it's not just general manager
09:24less need now miles garrett is going to recruit him and say hey man what are we doing here let's
09:29run it
09:30back like it's not just a one-year thing it's a two-year thing for us so um i think
09:35from the rams
09:36standpoint makes a lot of sense i know browns fans are crushed i've seen the response i completely get it
09:43like look listen i was a kid growing up i was a big tigers fan loved lance paris he was

09:48for the tigers for the longest time he went to the phillies i literally tore every single poster
09:54everything like i was a catcher in like little league it destroyed me it destroyed me and i never
09:59i mean even to this day i'm 49 i still remember how much that hurt me to watch this guy

10:14browns fans are really going to like jared verse a lot i think they're going to like him being added

10:53know you like players that are workers he's going to be a worker and um i think on top of

11:00even though people are just looking at the pick in 2027 they're saying oh it's the end of the first
11:04round and yeah they got a second and a third in later years and all this stuff that capital is
11:10going to matter and and i'll put it to you this way if you exit the 2026 season and you
11:15don't have
11:16the quarterback and you go into the 2027 draft and it's going to be rich i'm telling you with
11:20soarsby and the whole mess that's going on brendan soarsby it would have been great if that didn't
11:24happen because it would have been in this class it still should be a very rich quarterback class
11:28if you're the browns you need to move five spots seven spots to get the one you want to get
11:36the
11:36chosen the one where you're like yep that's the guy that's finishing it for us forever trust me
11:42that asset at the end of the first round and the other assets you've collected are absolutely going
11:48to be important in that um in that factor and you know again i know browns are like they hated

11:57when i said yeah there's still a year they're one more off season away and it's like oh we're
12:00always one more off season away i actually think truthfully with the construction of the roster
12:06that the young talent that now lines the roster now the the back-to-back drafts that i think are
12:12going to end up being very foundational you now are positioned and and and if someone doesn't emerge
12:19from this quarterback room and everyone can have their opinion on that um you're going to have the
12:24chance next year to to go and get your guy and now you have the assets i think to accomplish
