00:00 It's been difficult. Sometimes you go up and down. Some days are rough days. It's still
00:07 hard to deal with.
00:09 Those are some of the words used by Ms. Pandey as she shared her feelings on the loss of
00:14 her father. She tells us he was almost like a superhero and superheroes don't die.
00:22 So to just sort of wake up and find out that he was gone, and like I say, up to the morning
00:33 before it was not something that we had expected. And he was well and he was fine and he was
00:39 doing better. I would have posted on social media that he was improving. It just got a
00:45 bit of a sort of infection sort of thing and we just wanted to go and make sure everything
00:51 was all right with him. And, you know, like I said, during the eulogy, there was never
00:58 a moment that we thought we would be coming back home without our dad.
01:02 Ms. Pandey, who is an attorney at law and the political leader of the Patriotic Front,
01:07 says she believes it is her duty and responsibility to carry on her father's legacy. She says
01:14 he believed in equality and non-discrimination for the poor and the powerless. Further, she
01:20 tells TV6 she plans to throw her hat in the ring for the upcoming general election.
01:26 Absolutely. I think Trinidad and Tobago, you know, people need options. I think that is
01:32 what democracy is about, giving people options. So the more party is the better. I don't believe
01:38 in this that people say, oh, a third party. I ask them, please don't call me a third party
01:42 because you've called my place in the race already. So I think giving people options
01:47 is important.
01:49 The attorney at law also sought to clear the air on her relationship with the existing
01:53 United National Congress.
01:56 On numerous occasions, we have reached out and quietly, with class, dignity and grace,
02:03 to offer help and support without wanting absolutely anything. And that has been outright
02:10 rejected. And that's OK, because people are allowed to make decisions for what they feel
02:14 is best at that time. So there's no anger, hatred or malice because of that. And no,
02:22 there haven't been any overtures. And it's OK as well if it isn't. My father did say
02:29 on numerous occasions, Malini may even said it with you during interviews, that that isn't
02:33 the party that he formed.
02:36 She tells us she's open to speaking with other political entities, noting that the People's
02:41 National Movement has already reached out. With respect to crime and violence, she urges
02:48 politicians to put their personal issues on the back burner and prioritise the safety
02:54 of the population.
02:55 Put aside your differences. What could be so horrible, so horrible, your dislike for
03:02 each other, so extreme that you can't sit together? So do you really care? Do you really
03:12 care? And I don't say that as a politician. I say that as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.
