Transcript
00:00Archbishop Jason Gordon stresses that come April 29th, all sectors of the population still have to live together.
00:10As such, he says, we should not allow race politics to cause division during the election season.
00:16And if we allow leaders who want to get a vote to use race or class or whatever they use to vote, as opposed to, let's debate the real issues.
00:31There are three real issues in this country. Crime is the number one. I could say crime, crime and crime. That's a real issue in this country.
00:40Archbishop Gordon believes more focus should be placed on the depressed communities in order to cripple the criminals.
00:48The second real issue that is feeding the crime is a poor model of development that we have used over the last 40 years.
00:58We have used economic development of the nation and we have not understood development is a sustainable development of our most poor communities.
01:07The crime is being fed by the underdevelopment of poor communities in this country.
01:13He is also calling for a revamping of the education system, saying we have a 19th century mentality for students in a 21st century digital world.
01:24And that has to change.
01:27Nicole M. Romany, TV6 News.
