00:30you know this bill she is a senator from washington however she was born in indianapolis went to
00:37college at miami ohio so she's got some midwestern roots here because i think it's important to make
00:44sure the people that are working on this stuff actually understand it because they don't probably
00:48live it the same way they're like most people that cover it or play it do i feel like most

00:53were born in ohio live it on some level so that's good to know um you know i and i'll

01:06both of the the sides the things that they brought up are things that we frequently talk about on here
01:11whether it's the uh transfers or the um five years play playing five years and the financial side of it
01:19so they they're recognizing problems and trying to do something about it when you don't have an
01:24overarching uh commissioner and you have four i i i hesitate to use like mob analogies but it is kind
01:33of like four different families right the acc the sec the big 12 the big 10 and then of course

01:38of six and they all have different interests and they're rarely in the time that i've covered sporting
01:44news uh college football for us they're rarely all on the same page so at least we have a couple

01:50at the the highest level of government trying to put everybody on the same page so i don't have a
01:55problem with it i think they're going to grant them as part of this it's here's the thing but like

02:01the low-hanging fruit the stuff that everybody can agree on which would be good and maybe some of the
02:06players wouldn't think it's great for them but honestly it is but limiting athletes to transferring
02:12only one time without penalty um max eligibility of five years prohibiting former professional
02:19athletes from playing in college that's a little more on the basketball side but like that makes a
02:23lot of sense uh prohibit schools and this is the interesting they called this the lane kiffin clause
02:28poaching a coach from another school during their sports season so the thing that they would have to
02:33do with that bill would also help push something else which we like is possibly some amendments to the
02:39calendar on the college football side and that's the first item that needs fixed you know rather
02:45we're going to push the season up uh push the signing day up shorten i i the college football
02:51playoffs another discussion because there's no been no like uh talk of compressing the college football
02:58playoff calendar which is really what they should do uh i remember last year i think i was telling you
03:03it was november 18th or november 11th and and there were college football writers tweeting
03:08hey welcome to the midpoint of the season and you're like wait thanksgiving is next week uh so i think
03:14shortening all of that would help the sport as well and if we address the calendar first then you can

03:20into the transfer portal i like that coach role as well i mean we always compare it to the nfl

03:25head coaches are fired in week four they're pretty much done for the year they may come i i think
