00:00or they've got the the protect college sports act that they're they're pushed trying to push
00:05through congress and there's a lot of things in there they start talking there's some stuff with
00:09agent fees capping those which i agree with and they've got you know the revenue you know caps
00:14and some different things and there's some different mechanisms that you know we've talked
00:18about but i would argue bill that if you could limit the transfers to one time and you got the
00:26college football calendar right meaning probably got rid of the championship games moved everything
00:31to week zero and then started everything right after army navy went four straight weeks even with
00:37an expanded playoff or five you get done you know january that like second first full weekend in
00:44january whatever that is kind of when the the four team playoff would end and then you open the portal
00:50after that if you do those two things that solves probably 50 to 70 percent of the issues that
00:59we're trying to mitigate right now i agree completely so i'll lift all of that i was trying to think
01:06you probably have closer to an exact number in the four years you were at ohio state
01:10bobby how how many people do you think transferred per per year did you have like four or five a
01:16year
01:16maybe maybe i would say
01:22i don't know that we brought anthony schlegel in like he's probably our most famous transfer there
01:27may have been another guy or two that transferred in and i'm talking like players of consequence you
01:32would have guys that transferred right maybe a smaller school when they walked on and they just
01:36you know wanted to be on the team and then as far as um guys that transferred out honestly bill
01:42and trust tried to keep guys there but over a four-year period when i was there i bet we
01:47had
01:47less than five transfers so less than literally one a year yeah and and schlegs obviously we all
01:53remember him you know and how how obviously and what he brought to the program and what he's brought
01:59since and and to this day um it's it's so foreign to me that we have this many and i
02:06think that's part
02:07of maybe generation of fans my age where you're trying to follow these teams and when the entire
02:13roster changes i mean i can tell you that from doing our sporting news yearbook it was an exercise
02:18for each team where you were literally you would look at some transfer or rosters for some power four
02:24programs and pretty much the entire two deep is transfers that can't be healthy for the game it's
02:30not healthy for the student athlete to move around that much and uh you know i think like you said
02:36if you
02:36fix the calendar you fix the portal you fix the eligibility and put some sort of i don't know
02:42perhaps the right word of some sort of better business model around nil then the sport would be
02:48fine i'm quite sick and tired of reporting on all this stuff because i think the product on the field
02:53is still very very good it's just everything around it is is that a tipping point so here's the next
03:02one
03:02with this and it's you let me right where i wanted to go despite everything that's going on and the
03:07fans complaining about this and the college football calendar and you know the congressional
03:13stuff that's going on here when the games get started the ratings are going to be just as similar
03:20as they've always been and it just goes to show like you can try to screw this up right now
03:25but people
03:26still love their college football lifted or leave it oh lifted absolutely i i and i think it
03:31particularly when you start to peek at the schedule schedule for september and you see
03:35you know texas ohio state or oklahoma michigan in week two um those are monster games and and then
03:43you get into the conference season i mentioned indiana earlier i was talking about this like kind
03:47of eyeballing the games that i think i'm going to be at this year for sporting news and i was
03:52like
03:52yeah probably good at bloomington that weekend because what an atmosphere that's going to be when
03:56ohio state plays indiana in bloomington or when uh penn state plays usc and usc is going in there
04:03and that'll probably be a whiteout that night what a scene that will be with those two uniforms and
04:08the play on the field is still fun it's still for me at least it's still fun to tell the
04:12stories of
04:13the athletes the student athletes i know they're making money now i know it's a little bit different
04:17but when you can come up with a good story about some of those student athletes that are
04:21going to go out and have a good season or have an all-american season
