Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield pushed back when WWJ reporter Tim Pamplin suggested that her initial efforts to quell the teen take overs fell flat. They started in downtown, and spread to the neighborhoods and the suburbs.

00:21What we're seeing is a national movement of teen takeovers.
00:23Now, actually, what we witnessed in Detroit has not been as bad as other cities.
00:27We are going to continue to create safe spaces for our young people.
00:30We're going to continue to invest in them and prioritize youth.
00:33But that is in addition to enforcement and accountability.
