00:00Crews are working hard to fix a major water main break along the Berkeley-Royal Oak border.
00:05WWJ's Charlie Langton has been out there all morning long.
00:08Yeah, it has been a long time.
00:09Yeah, around 3 a.m., a little after 3 a.m., this water main break, it's only 8 inches,
00:14which, you know, we've seen bigger water mains, but 8 inches was enough to send gallons,
00:19literally of gallons of water, all over the northbound lanes of Woodward at Catalpa
00:24and a little bit into the southbound lanes.
00:26Then they brought in some giant super suckers, for lack of a better word.
00:30I think that's a technical word.
00:32Anyway, they brought them in to remove the water, and then they located the break.
00:35Again, only an 8-inch break, but nevertheless, crews began to repair.
00:39Now, they're digging it up as we speak.
00:41They're bringing in heavy equipment because they've got to dig around 6 feet of concrete
00:45to get to that pipe to make the repairs.
00:48However, after they got the mud and gunk and blech out of the Woodward,
00:52they did open two lanes of Woodward, so it's open right now.
00:55Southbound lanes pretty much were never affected, and the cause of this pipe here, old age.
01:02Yeah, they think they're going to fix it up, though, by the end of today.
