00:01so today is the day for the multi-use path to open at the Gordie Howe bridge and this is
00:07the
00:07gate along West Jefferson as cyclists and pedestrians have gathered to go across and
00:15to give you an idea this is a little before the noon hour this line stretches well down West
00:23Jefferson you easily have I would say upwards of 200 people here if not more but all of these
00:31folks are interested in making history to be among those to walk or cycle across from Detroit to
00:39Windsor and I can only assume it is the same situation over on the Windsor side coming to
00:45Detroit for free to go ahead and cross the bridge into Canada one of the guys I just interviewed up
00:52front one of the cyclists said that he's been here about an hour maybe an hour and 10 minutes
00:57they're limiting traffic to like 250 people on the bridge at a time and again we're talking you know
01:06from those coming to the US as well as here in Detroit crossing over to Windsor because they
01:12share the same path and obviously for safety reasons they don't want to get too many people
01:17on the bridge at one time cycling and walking so having said that it might take you a while if
01:24you're thinking about doing this today because I'm still walking toward the end of this line
01:27and again you don't want to go off I-75 to the bridge itself or you're stuck having to cross
01:33you want
01:33to get off toward West Jefferson and come on down and park and queue up to basically get in line
01:44to cross on over that's the scene here this morning again about maybe a little after 11 30
01:51as history being made at the Gordial Bridge
