00:00I did a brief check.
00:02The San Francisco 49ers opened OTAs yesterday.
00:07Yeah.
00:08And Brandon Ayuk did not arrive.
00:11Now, these are voluntary, but the way for Ayuk to force San Francisco's hand
00:16is to show up and cause trouble.
00:18Yeah.
00:19They don't want him there.
00:20If he shows up, they will have to make a decision.
00:24Because you don't want him in the locker room.
00:26If you've made your decision, you don't want him in your locker room.
00:30Because if he comes back and he starts showing he's capable,
00:33there are going to be some players saying he needs to be here.
00:36I think it's also, I don't know, maybe we get an agent
00:41or they probably wouldn't want to talk on the record.
00:42I'll have to text somebody on this.
00:44But I think they could just keep, if he doesn't show up,
00:49they could just keep him on the reserve left squad list.
00:52And it doesn't, everybody thinks their hand is going to be forced
00:55until he shows up.
00:57Nobody's forcing any hands.
01:00Now, Steph Diggs, to me, would make more sense
01:02in a very traditional sense, right?
01:04Like, he had 1,000 yards for a team that went to the Super Bowl last year.
01:07All the people I've talked to from New England that I trust
01:10said he was cool in the locker room.
01:11Yeah.
01:11No problems.
01:13Now, New England moved on this offseason.
01:16The three-year, $60 million contract was largely fake.
01:19It was a one-year 20.
01:20He made his money.
01:22And now New England believes they're going to trade for A.J. Brown.
01:24So you move forward.
01:25But I wonder.
01:28Is that deal still in place?
01:32It's not done yet.
01:34I'm just saying.
01:35It seemed like it was happening.
01:36And then I started seeing other stuff.
01:38They might have shied away from that because they don't want the extra stuff
01:40coming in there.
01:41It was always a post-June 1.
01:42Yeah.
01:42So we'll see what happens next week.
01:45I'm curious, though, for all the angst about the receiver position,
01:48do you feel maybe a little bit better?
01:50Antonio Williams, the rookie, looked good.
01:52It's early, but he looked the part.
01:55They drafted him on purpose.
01:56And that's what you want.
01:57I mean, in the first time seeing the person you want to see,
02:01it's not that you see a finished product.
02:03And I think so many fans and a lot of people in the media,
02:05they look for the finished product instead of, okay,
02:08I see why they drafted him.
02:10Now, when we drafted Jaden 2024, what did D.A. say?
02:16Show me why.
02:17Show why.
02:18And I think he gave you many reasons why.
02:21Antonio Williams yesterday, he gave you reasons why.
02:25I could see what.
02:26You could see the quick twitch.
02:27You could see the guy how he settles the route running.
02:29And if you continue with that and keep building,
02:33then you see why.
02:34And then you can start to see the person develop that we already look at
02:38instead of allowing people to get there.
02:41Stallion, what about you?
02:42I think you were concerned about the receiver position.
02:45And do you feel any better after one OTA session?
02:49I mean, I do feel better.
02:51But, like, also, having weapons.
02:54Like, you should have so many weapons.
02:56I think that's something that, like,
02:58you should always go into having more than probably what you will use.
03:01And I don't think we're at that point just yet.
03:04So I would explore adding options, and I don't think it hurts this team.
03:07But also, if you believe in Antonio Williams, and if you're like,
03:10well, if we sign this guy, then Antonio Williams may not develop,
03:15then, okay, let's have that conversation.
03:17But someone like Diggs, I think you sign Diggs.
03:20He's your wide receiver, too.
03:21He helps Antonio Williams.
03:23He helps Terry McLaurin.
03:24He helps Chig.
03:25And he also helps Jaden Daniels.
03:27So that's a move that I would want to make right now.
03:30I think the Diggs situation is money.
03:35If Steph wants 15 mil, I don't know.
03:39AP wouldn't pay Terry last year.
03:42And all the reporting was AP has a hard time going with over 30-year-old receivers
03:48paying him that much money.
03:49Yeah, but it's a similar scenario.
03:51Other people do it, and they have success.
03:52So I'm not saying he's correct.
03:54I'm just saying this scenario unfolded last year,
03:57and maybe that's a factor this year.
04:00I want to let some of these folks on the phones weigh in.
04:02Our guy Toothpick is in Texas.
04:04What's up, Vic?
04:06Hey, I want you to know I'm calling again from the future,
04:09so we already had this conversation.
04:11My man.
04:14You said the other day that we wasn't going to talk about Brandon Ayut,
04:18but you brought him up again.
04:21And real quick.
04:22I'm just saying he didn't show up.
04:24That was his chance to cause trouble.
04:27So, yeah, exactly.
04:29But real quick, there is not another commander that's more excited than DeVon
04:33Kenlaw because he got help.
04:35But as far as the wide receivers go, I'm cautiously optimistic because I want to
04:41see these guys continue to build like Lane McCaffrey.
04:46I want to see them continue to build.
04:49But I'm also worried about their injuries.
04:51The same with Trayvon Burks.
04:53And I've got to see what Williams can do.
04:56And remember, there are no consequences for catching the ball or going up right now
05:01because it's just OTA.
05:03There's no pads and things of that nature.
05:05And these teams, besides pads breakups, they lay that wood to you and it makes you faced.
05:10So, I'm cautiously optimistic.
05:14Cautiously optimistic.
05:15I think that's a fair place to be picked.
05:16Thanks for the call, bud.
05:18Oh, boy.
05:18Paulie in Norfolk.
05:19I don't think we've heard from Paulie in some time.
05:21What's up, Paulie?
05:35Not much, buddy.
05:39Is Sheehan not on?
05:40How are we getting Paulie to call us?
05:44Hey, man, you know the routine.
05:46Stop it.
05:46I'm listening.
05:50You know what I mean?
05:51Paulie's got to call in after Santana.
05:53That's my guy.
05:55But, look, man, I'm happy.
05:58I'm real happy with this season.
06:00I thought the key for it was bringing a guy like De'Ami back.
06:06He, to me, wasn't about the player, but more about the skill set.
06:10De'Ami gives you another vertical threat.
06:13You know, he's coming into his own that last 24 with us.
06:17He's got a Google pool with Jayden.
06:22You know what I mean?
06:23They got guys who can catch the ball and make moves after they catch.
06:28And we said one thing about building this roster.
06:32They just drafted a receiver every year for these past three years.
06:36So, they're kind of building this receiver group through the draft.
06:40And you can't – you got to be happy about that.
06:43And then you add a guy like Van Jefferson, who's a veteran, you know,
06:47and another guy who can move and make moves after the catch.
06:51So, I just think it's more of, you know, let's get these guys out there.
06:55Let them get in tune with Jayden.
06:58And I think it'll be fine.
06:59And then you got Kelly, who wasn't there beginning of last year.
07:03And he's clearly the leader.
07:04He's not just a leader on the team, but he's the leader of that position group.
07:08You know, so I'm liking it.
07:10I like Antonio Williams.
07:11You know, after the draft, a lot of people was crying about he's not a big receiver
07:15or he's not a number one or he's a slot.
07:17I mean, you know, y'all just interviewed a guy.
07:20When he came in, you know, yeah, he was a first-round pick.
07:23Did people view him as a number one receiver?
07:26But he couldn't be stopped.
07:27He played like a number one guy.
07:29And then another thing is, I hate that number one, number two, number –
07:33man, can you play?
07:35Can you go out there and play?
07:37You'll establish yourself on the field or what position or where you're going to be.
07:42And one thing about all of them guys is they're all interchangeable.
07:47You know, you're going to see Terry in the slot a lot this year, I believe.
07:51You know, you're going to see Antonio on the outside.
07:53You're going to see Lane McCaffrey on the outside in the slot.
07:56So, I think they're all interchangeable positions.
07:58And if you want to add a veteran or something along the way, I mean, it's cool.
08:02There's nothing wrong with improving yourself.
08:04But I do like what we got there.
08:06Like I said, I do like how they're building the position through the draft, man.
08:10Appreciate you, Paulie.
08:11Thanks for the call, bud.
08:12I'll sneak in Juan real quick.
08:14All right, our guy Juan is in Fairfax.
08:16Juan, how are you, buddy?
08:17How are you feeling about this receiver room?
08:20I'm comfortable with it.
08:21I'm comfortable.
08:22I'm very comfortable with it.
08:24I'm not really worried about Brandon and you.
08:26I'm not worried about Stephon Diggs.
08:30I like what we have right now.
08:31I like what we have.
08:33You know what I'm saying?
08:34I'm comfortable with that.
08:35But I am going to get back to my potential.
08:37Can I get my prediction?
08:38Can I get my prediction of how many games we're going to win this year?
08:41Sure, dude.
08:42You're early for that, don't you think?
08:43We're going to win a – no, I'm already going to call it.
08:46I'm calling it.
08:47All right.
08:47I'm calling it right now.
08:48We win 11 games this year.
08:5211 games.
08:53I'll go ahead and take that.
08:54We win an 11.
08:55All right.
08:55By Thanksgiving, we're going to be 8-2.
08:59Damn.
08:59All right.
09:00That's a pretty poor finish of 8-2 on Thanksgiving.
09:03I'm calling it.
09:04I'm calling it.
09:05All right, bro.
09:06I'm calling it.
09:06I'm just letting you know.
09:07Appreciate you, Juan.
09:08All right, man.
09:08Thank you, buddy.
09:09All right.
09:09Y'all be good.
09:10All right.
09:11Thank you, man.
