00:00Good.
00:00It's a good problem to have when you've got a lot of good receivers.
00:04It's wild to me to think about the receiver depth this year
00:08versus last year when we saw Chris Moore lead this team in targets
00:12for five games.
00:14The thing about Steph I like so much is he came in here
00:19with a reputation per se, but everybody that talks about Steph
00:23talks about how he's helping everybody, how he's a pro,
00:27how he's setting stuff up.
00:28And De'Ami was like raving about it yesterday.
00:31When you watch him, I think he's the typical athlete where
00:36when you get to a certain level, you want to leave something.
00:39You get what I'm saying?
00:40Yeah.
00:41When you're young, you're trying to establish yourself.
00:43You ain't helping nobody out.
00:44When you get a little older, you do.
00:46I think that's going to be a big plus for this team.
00:50So specifically in this receiver room, Terry, Diggs, Williams,
00:57that's a certainty.
00:59Yeah, I agree.
01:00That's a certainty.
01:01That is a 100% lock.
01:04I think Trey Burks is close to that category.
01:08I think Trey Burks is damn near a lock.
01:11Could be.
01:12I'll put Lane before that, though, because he got the return game plus that.
01:18Yep.
01:19He's had a good camp, too.
01:20I think that's four people there.
01:22All right.
01:22So you've got Lane as number four.
01:24I agree with you.
01:25I think he's on the roster.
01:26I don't know if he's number four per se, but I'm saying he's one of the four.
01:29Right.
01:29He's one of the six.
01:31They're going to have seven, whatever.
01:32Right.
01:32So I think it gets really interesting because Terry, Diggs, Williams, Lane,
01:40Burks, you still have De'Ami.
01:42De'Ami, Van.
01:43You still have Van Jefferson, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaden Bradley's been quite good.
01:47Jaden Bradley.
01:48I'll draft a kid out of UNLV.
01:50I don't know if he's ready to make the step, but you know what he's doing?
01:54He's damn sure putting his name in the argument because that kid, he does it all.
02:00We saw three times, almost two times he was damn near taking the ball off the punter's foot.
02:05The other time he almost got it in the air.
02:08He covers.
02:09He's caught the ball, and he's a 6'4 guy.
02:12And then on top of it, he's willing to try anything they ask him to do.
02:18But who do you think – I think Bradley and Jacoby Jones are guys they would like to get to
02:24the practice squad.
02:26I think that's the path there.
02:28Jacoby Jones, I believe, spent time on it last year.
02:31It's a lot harder to keep track of the practice squad now that it's 16 guys,
02:34and it's a constantly shifting thing.
02:36Say everything with that extra money, right?
02:38I know.
02:38Who is their international pathway guy right now?
02:41Is it Moraga?
02:43You got – no.
02:45How do you pronounce it?
02:46D-line.
02:47Yeah, big D.
02:48He's a linebacker.
02:49You got –
02:51Marin.
02:52You got a –
02:53Don't you have –
02:53I would think that Petit Frere is an international name.
02:58We're going to research that rather than just guess.
03:03But if you look at some of the receiver rooms –
03:07Maguri, Maguri Younger.
03:09Yeah.
03:10Around the NFL.
03:11TJ.
03:11Like, we saw the Dolphins last week.
03:17And that receiving depth chart.
03:19Like, the kid Caleb Douglas, the rookie, I thought was pretty good.
03:23Jalen Tolbert, Chris Bell, Tutu Atwell.
03:26You get to the bottom of that list.
03:27Jalen Rager.
03:29I think –
03:30Wasn't Rager kind of a top pick?
03:32Yeah, I think the Eagles tried to.
03:34I think he was a first-rounder.
03:38One thing I absolutely think, and sometimes we talk ourselves into this
03:41and it doesn't happen, if – and I'm not suggesting it will,
03:45because I do think, unfortunately, as we've seen,
03:49injuries tend to play a factor before you get to roster cuts, right?
03:52But if they decide they can only keep six guys and one of Deami Brown
04:00or Van Jefferson, they try – they release in hopes of getting back.
04:05Now, the free agent market would suggest that's about where those guys are
04:09because neither had much of a market.
04:10They both kind of signed vet minimum deals.
04:14A team like the Dolphins, I think – and there's other teams similar,
04:19lack of receiver depth, I don't think you're getting either of those guys
04:23back to your practice squad.
04:24Yeah.
04:25I'm not sure either of them, as veteran guys, would accept –
04:30would really be into that idea anyway.
04:33Yeah.
04:34Maybe they would.
04:34I don't know.
04:35But, like, Van Jefferson, to me, has impressed me since the first day of camp
04:40when I saw him really run.
04:42Dude can run.
04:43He can fly.
04:43Deami's had a great camp.
04:45I asked you a question, though, and this is not trying to be funny.
04:48How many guys year one, year two, year three, who have been on practice squad
04:55jump on this new thing and try to go back to college in the transfer portal?
05:00That's a hell of a question.
05:01I mean, because let's be real.
05:04The money they could possibly make back in college since this judge has opened
05:08this up is probably more than they're going to make on practice squad.
05:12Like, what if a dude like – I'm going to pull up Jaden Bradley's stats.
05:17He played at UNLV.
05:18Yeah, I'm trying to see if I got eligibility, dog.
05:21I mean, that is a crazy thought, but it's a real one now.
05:24I mean, hell, if I got, like, one year left, I might be able to get a little
05:29something.
05:30Does eligibility expire anymore?
05:33It has to, man.
05:34Listen, if it doesn't, they got – it used to.
05:38I know it used to.
05:39Now, we got guys playing eight years in college.
05:42Now they're telling guys, oh, you're on the pro – in the pro, you get cut,
05:46you can go into the transfer portal.
05:47Ben Strober sitting in for White Brian today.
05:50We're just going to assume that seat has answers to things.
05:53Strober, does eligibility expire anymore?
05:55Because Jaden Bradley played five years of college football.
05:58Started at Pitt for two seasons, then went down to Charlotte, then finished at UNLV.
06:03But see, five years has always been the norm.
06:07With a red shirt.
06:07With a red shirt, yeah.
06:10But there are guys that have played seven years.
06:14Nick Nash, that's on the commander's roster right now, the receiver,
06:17He's like 26, 27.
06:18Played six years of college football and played all six.
06:22Does eligibility expire, Strober?
06:25It says that it does, but, like, did you see the other day,
06:28Billy Edwards Jr. is now going to be the quarterback at UNC.
06:32He's been in college for six years now as well.
06:34It says five years, according to the search that I've done here,
06:36but I think because of all the grants they've done over the past couple of years
06:40with court rulings, now it seems like it doesn't even really apply
06:43if you get an injunction or whatever they do in court for you.
06:48That's the Billy that played for Maryland?
06:50Correct.
06:50And then went to Wisconsin?
06:52Yep.
06:53What?
06:54Because, remember, he got hurt against Maryland.
06:55I mean this respectfully.
06:57I'm sure he's a nice young man.
06:59Dude can't play quarterback.
07:00How does he keep getting these jobs?
07:03You know there's always somebody that thinks you can't
07:05because they thought you could.
07:08Do you disagree with me, Ben?
07:09You're probably watching Maryland football more intently than I am,
07:11and I didn't tune into many Badgers games last year.
07:14But, like, he's just not an accurate passer.
07:16He's a tough kid.
07:17He runs hard.
07:19A lot of people called us twins because we look alike, but.
07:22He's got red hair, too?
07:23He's your height?
07:24He's got to be a foot taller than you, Trevor.
07:27He is a foot taller than me.
07:27Oh, okay.
07:28I'm about to say, Ben.
07:28But, he was not very good at Maryland.
07:31Y'all twins like Danny DeVito and what's going on?
07:33Arnold Schwarzenegger.
07:36All right.
07:39Let's say they're keeping seven, hypothetically, at wide receiver.
07:44Terry, Diggs, Williams, Lane, Burks, Luke, Diami.
07:51You don't even get the van until eight.
07:58I don't know, bro.
07:59You know what I say?
08:00This is the time of the year where I'm glad I'm not making those decisions.
08:04We can debate it all day, but you know what?
08:07Yeah, I don't have to be held to it.
08:09So, right.
08:10Like, it's not our decision, but if you don't have an injury there, that's a hell of a decision
08:17to make, and.
08:19But, thinking about all that stuff now, it makes me think you have two quarterbacks, for sure.
08:25Yeah.
08:25One going to be on.
08:27The other is going to be trying to put on practice wide, but you won't have three on.
08:30The active.
08:31Yeah.
08:31So, you got Jaden and Marcus on the active.
08:34Here's a real question.
08:36There's a lot to like with Cadillac.
08:38Big arm, moves around the pocket a little bit.
08:40He's got this, like, he's got just this likability.
08:46It's hard to describe.
08:47When you talk to him, it's like, he's so excited for the moment that it's like, it's not quite
08:54charismatic, but it's like.
08:57He's thankful.
08:58Yeah, dude.
08:59He's grateful and has this excitement, and it rubs.
09:03It, like, makes you feel that way, too, a little bit.
09:06Yeah.
09:06You know what I mean?
09:07But, I love the way he, what's going on, man?
09:10He handles the pocket.
09:12Yeah.
09:12I don't like about him.
09:13We'll see tomorrow.
09:14I mean, do you think Hartman could end up not on the practice squad?
09:21And I don't mean the active.
09:22Do you think the Hartman experience ends?
09:26It's possible.
09:27I mean, looking at Caliak Maness and watching Hartman, if I had to make a decision right
09:36now, Aiden would be the third guy.
09:39A hundred percent.
09:40Just the arm strength.
09:42And this is like, no, just the arm strength.
09:44First of all, and I want people to understand, it's not about me liking a person.
09:51The affection aspect, I watch who I think are a better football player.
09:54And I believe he's a better quarterback right now.
09:57And Hartman's had three years to develop in this situation.
09:59What does Caliak Maness look like in three years?
10:02I don't know.
10:02That's what I'm saying.
10:03I do agree with you, two quarterbacks, which maybe opens up a roster spot.
10:07So people understand, the 53-man roster, you've got three specialists.
10:11Snapper, punter, kicker.
10:12So then you have 50 spots for your offense and your defense.
10:16Generally, there's a 25-25 divide.
10:20What else is going to be interesting?
10:22Roster cuts are due in nine days.
10:24I think it's 3 p.m. on the 30th.
10:27Don't quote me on the time.
10:28It could be 4 p.m.
10:31But that is two weeks before their first game.
10:35So whatever that initial 53 is could look a lot different by Wednesday of that week.
10:39Oh, hell yeah.
10:40So like, we all get so caught up in the 53, but it could go a lot of different ways.
10:45The receiver thing is super interesting.
10:48Even if you are gaming your roster, I don't think you're breaking camp with eight wideouts.
10:53Do you?
10:55No.
10:57Eight is a lot, though.
10:59Right.
11:00Seven is a lot.
11:02But going one step further, I think they've got to keep four tight ends.
11:09I think you keep Bates.
11:11Chig's obvious.
11:12Bates is obvious.
11:13To me, Senate is relatively obvious.
11:16And Yankoff.
11:17They've done it before.
11:20I just, I don't know where you create the space.
11:24The one good thing is, Tunsell eventually is going to get put on IR, right?
11:30But I don't, now they've added tackles for camp.
11:34But because you have Coleman immediately as your starter, because you have the depth with
11:40Wiley and Trent Scott, you don't have to add a tackle.
11:46So eventually that IR spot becomes a roster spot that you're able to add.
11:52Now, maybe that gets gobbled up by an actual veteran backup center.
11:55We'll see.
11:56But like, it's going to be really interesting.
12:00So if you go, if you go to quarterbacks, which I think is probably what's going to happen,
12:07could you break camp?
12:09And I'm not saying, could you ever break camp with two running backs?
12:17It's got to be three, right?
12:18If not four.
12:20Yeah.
12:20Yeah.
12:21You've already put Ford to IR.
12:24I feel like we'll see what happens with McNichols, but I wouldn't be shocked if he goes to IR.
12:29Bill, I think, has had a fantastic training camp and is like clearly the starting running back.
12:34And then I think Rashad White's going to have a real role.
12:37Yeah.
12:40I don't think you're cutting fat, man.
12:41I think you really like the short yardage stuff.
12:45Henry's shown some stuff though, man.
12:47Yeah.
12:47I can see four of them.
12:49See, this is the thing.
12:50Both Henry and Fat Man can play specials.
12:57The more they improve on the offense begins to make some other people expendable.
13:06And I know we like certain guys and they've been around, but when a young guy come around, he's a
13:11little cheaper.
13:12Yep.
13:13That's the reality.
13:14Yeah.
13:14I do wonder if they could go 26, 24 and keep 26 on offense and create more roster spots.
13:22Like your DBs, I think we're starting, I think it's possible.
13:27I think we got to have a, at least leave the door open.
13:30The Trey Amos has to go on IR.
13:31I don't know, but like we haven't seen much of anything there.
13:36I think Rasul Douglas, Amik Robertson, Mikey Sammerstil, all certainties.
13:43Yeah.
13:43I think Antonio Hamilton's been pretty darn good.
13:46Hamilton makes a very, very strong argument to be around.
13:50I think Moreau's been pretty good and he knows the defense.
13:53Yeah.
13:53Like he played for Durante for two years in Minnesota.
13:57The safeties, they have a lot of them.
13:59They play a lot of them.
14:01Like normally your, your defensive back breakdown on an NFL roster would be 10 DBs, six corners,
14:08four safeties.
14:09I could absolutely see that being five and five.
14:13You agree with that?
14:14Yep.
14:15Like they love Percy.
14:16Wait, Percy plays special teams.
14:19Percy, Cross, Will Harris, Quan Martin, Revo.
14:23And isn't it?
14:25You gotta name Owens.
14:26I haven't named Owens.
14:29Listen, man, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's going to be some stuff happening this year.
14:37It's, and the reality is the unfortunate reality is there's two more preseason games.
14:43There's another joint practice.
14:44Like there's a lot of runway left before they get to these roster cuts.
14:49That said, injuries are probably going to play a role in some of these roster making decisions
14:54between now and nine days from now.
14:57Yeah, totally.
14:58Um, somebody was asking me this and Stallion wrote it down here in each of the last two
15:04training camps.
15:06Adam Peters has made a trade traded away.
15:08John Dotson traded away Brian Robinson last year.
15:10You think there's a trade coming?
15:13I don't know.
15:15That's something I haven't even thought about.
15:17I think with Dotson specifically two years ago, we kind of saw that something didn't seem
15:26to fit right.
15:27You know what I mean?
15:29Yeah.
15:31And that you could kind of, not to say I saw him getting traded away, but like you saw
15:36that something.
15:37There was something going on with that.
15:38Yeah.
15:38And it was very obvious.
15:39Yeah.
15:40From body language to like lack of using them.
15:44Yeah.
15:44But I don't see anything like that happening with anybody right now that I would think
15:48would have any value.
15:50I agree.
15:50Yeah.
15:50I totally agree.
15:52Like, I remember with Brian Robinson, you started to hear potential trade stuff and then
15:57they didn't play him.
15:58Um, I don't even think he traveled to whatever that middle preseason game was last season.
16:05And then you're like, all right, well, this is over.
16:06So like something's happening here.
16:08You know what I mean?
16:09Like, I don't, I don't feel any of those situations.
16:12Doesn't mean they can't emerge.
16:14I, I don't know that they, I mean, maybe if they really liked their depth at receiver,
16:23maybe there's a conditional pick for the army or van out there.
16:27I kind of doubt that.
16:30I don't think they would trade a guy like Luke.
16:34I mean, you just drafted him top 100 two years ago, but like if all of a sudden you
16:40have some depth at receiver, there's going to be other teams that do not.
16:43Yeah.
16:43Maybe there's a conditional pick out there.
16:45I, I think we're maybe extrapolating too much, but now's the time we're talking about
16:51the roster gets fun and the guys that are going to be on the field tomorrow at Ford
16:55Field, have the opportunity to change the conversation, good or bad.
16:59Totally.
17:00Speaking of changing the conversation, let's check in with Ike Reese.
17:03When we return, Beazle team.
