02:38do me a favor.
02:38Give me a call over at the Fro Wrestling Sound Offline, 267-642-1160, and I will get to those
02:44questions, comments, concerns, or whatever it is you want to talk about in a future episode.
02:48Tonight, going through the AEW news of the day, going to start kicking things off with
02:53Tony Khan talking about Ronda Rousey, saying that she is always welcome in All Elite Wrestling
02:58after everything she did in the brief stint in Ring of Honor, the matches she appeared
03:03so she could team up with her good friend, and then coming back again later on in the
03:08this past year at AEW Revolution.
03:11It sounds like Tony Khan would be very open to having her come in and do some more matches
03:17and whatnot.
03:18So at the end of the day, I think Ronda Rousey's made it clear that she really wants to get
03:22working on having a bigger family, have a couple more kids or whatever, but I certainly
03:26don't think we should close the door on her ever making a return to the squared circle.
03:29Certainly not in this day and age where, you know, obviously, if you watched her fight
03:33that 17-second fight, even that little snippet of time, you could tell she could still go.
03:38And if she's able to do something like that at a high enough quality and for the right
03:42amount of money, I think Tony Khan's somebody who could make that work for her.
03:45I think she'd be happy to be a part of that.
03:47Now, she has mentioned in the past that her biggest issue with WWE was Vince McMahon and
03:52his proxy people.
03:54When you think about it with Nick Khan and Triple H and those people being in charge,
03:58maybe she would consider that at some point in the future, but she has had a jaded past
04:02with WWE fans.
04:04Maybe the AEW crowd would be something that would be more to her liking.
04:07I know they did, you know, tease something with her and Tony Storm, but I don't think
04:11that's going anywhere, especially with Tony Storm being out for a significant period of
04:14time.
04:15Maybe they revisit that when Tony Storm comes back, but then again, by the time Tony Storm
04:18comes back, you would think if Ronda Rousey really is jumping all over this, you
04:23know, baby factory that she wants to seem to have at home, that that would be well
04:27underway, but we'll have to, you know, wait and see, unfortunately.
04:30But in terms of Tony Khan and his intentions, he has no problem with bringing her in, having
04:37her do some more things with AEW in the future.
04:40On the Talk is Jericho podcast, AEW's Luchasaurus was having a conversation.
04:45He returned back in August of 2025.
04:47He was hospitalized.
04:50If you remember, September, I believe it was 2024.
04:53And it turned out he had really bad pneumonia, both lungs, serious stuff.
04:57And it, you know, even though he, he claimed in the interview that he was actually cleared
05:01to come back much sooner.
05:03But when he was going through the process of the pneumonia, he thought he had a pulmonary
05:07embolism and it turned out it was just pneumonia.
05:09And it really was almost like a come to Jesus moment for him where he was able to see, look
05:14at his entire career a little differently.
05:17He ended up taking more time than he probably needed to, but he needed that time to get his
05:21head in the right space before coming back.
05:23And it's been great seeing him ever since he's come back.
05:25But certainly interesting to see how that he, I don't want to say a near death experience,
05:30but he certainly was very, very bad way for quite a long time.
05:33Um, was out for several months, serious antibiotics to try to clear up the pneumonia and, uh, just
05:38glad to see him back.
05:39But it's interesting to see how that one significant, uh, possibility that the pulmonary embolism
05:45as even a possibility was something that made him really think about his career.
05:48And it's just a great thing to see him back in the ring.
05:51We didn't, uh, have anything more serious going on.
05:53Uh, another AEW wrestler, Buddy Matthews been injured for an extended period of time, but
05:58he has been announced for an independent tour.
06:01Now, I don't really know what this means for his AEW contract.
06:06It's a tour that's taking place later this year.
06:09He's going to go back to Australia for World Series Wrestling's Mega Mania Tour, which is
06:13usually runs October to November.
06:15Um, from what we understand, it's a five show tour, four events happening in Australia, one
06:19in New Zealand, um, October 29th through November 2nd.
06:23And, you know, you got to wonder if he's able to come back for that, would he be back in
06:27AEW before that?
06:29After that, would this be a way for him to warm up and get himself ready?
06:31I think a lot of times we, we kind of see these guys get injured.
06:35They go away.
06:36And if we don't see him for a while, we kind of put him in the back burner.
06:38We don't even think about him.
06:39Ward Lowe, Buddy Matthews, several others.
06:41And this is great to see that he's thinking about coming back very soon.
06:45I know that he was at one of the shows in Australia only about a week or two ago.
06:48Um, really kind of fueling the speculation.
06:52I'm hoping that he's able to come back to AEW long before this, because he has been away
06:57for so, so long.
06:59And look, I, I understand he's predominantly been in the tag team scene for most of the,
07:03his, his main runs in both WWE and in AEW.
07:07But I really believe that this guy has got the talent to be a singles star, a breakout
07:12singles star.
07:12Somebody who could easily be going for that TNT championship or even higher at some point.
07:17And, um, at, at this point, he's been gone for so long.
07:20I think he's, it's almost like a new signing for AEW when he comes back, because people
07:25are going to be so excited to see him if Tony Khan books him strong enough.
07:28And that's always a big if, because, you know, Tony's got so much talent, he's got to spread
07:32the love a little bit, uh, but we'll have to wait and see.
07:34Uh, but it is definitely exciting to know that he is definitely signed for some dates
07:38in October, November.
07:40So we know at worst case scenario, that's when we'll see him back in the ring.
07:44But I'm hoping we see him in AEW before Forbidden Door and things like that.
07:48I would love to see him back right away, to be perfectly honest with you.
07:51Not sure how he ties in with, um, the, the Brody King bandito relationship.
07:56I think they could easily do a feud at some point after breaking up as a tag team.
08:00Um, he used to be in House of Black with Brody King.
08:03Not sure how that all play out, but I would not be opposed to seeing him come back in either
08:07team with him again or break out as a single star.
08:10A lot of things you could do with him.
08:12Very curious to see where that goes.
08:13Gotta jump into Double or Nothing.
08:15I know it's been a couple days, but that, you know, look, I can't record every single day.
08:18I do have a personal life.
08:19I apologize to anybody who that offends.
08:21Um, but definitely wanted to get around to Double or Nothing.
08:24Fantastic show top to bottom.
08:25I might, I got nitpicky stuff that I'll complain about, but not much.
08:29Um, I do, I'm kind of getting tired of these, you know, buy-in pre-show matches.
08:34It's the same nonsense as when WWE makes it sound like they have like a five match card
08:40and then they put some on free television.
08:42The difference here is, is I feel like Tony Khan does these to try to get as many people
08:47on the shows as possible, which I actually appreciate that far more than what WWE does.
08:52So what WWE does with their, you know, ESPN matches is, is they're trying to get people
08:56to tune in the ESPN to sample the product and then hopefully buy the ESPN app.
09:01So they see the rest of the pay-per-view, which has not seemed to work very well, uh, for
09:05ESPN.
09:06Not real thrilled with their, their deal, at least the last time we heard.
09:09Um, but in this case, you know, three matches on the, on the, uh, buy-in pre-show.
09:15Um, and, and none of them really like blew my mind.
09:18You know, Divine Dominion were there.
09:19The Women's Tag Team Championship Eliminator match, no, no real challenge there.
09:24Nothing shocking.
09:25Death Riders and the Ops.
09:26It was, and it was a very strange match to begin with.
09:29Also nothing to really write home about.
09:30Not a terrible match by any stretch.
09:32Death Riders are always exciting to see.
09:34Um, but you know, I just don't know what this did.
09:39And if, and honestly, I'd rather see it on the main show.
09:42I really would.
09:43And then of course we had this crazy multi-man thing, the conglomeration, QT Marshall, Big
09:48Boom AJ, um, Shane Taylor promotions, all this stuff.
09:53And, you know, look, I get the Big Boom AJ stuff.
09:56You're getting some mainstream attention, having him being, be out there.
10:00Um, I don't know.
10:02I, I, the Rizzlers there, Big Justice.
10:04I just, I feel like it's, it's, it's almost like WWE pandering to like,
10:08like celebrities, but using like B-level celebrities.
10:12And if you're going to do that, I'm fine with using celebrities in wrestling.
10:15I think some of them have been phenomenal, but if you're going to do that, put them on
10:18the main show so more people see them who want to see them.
10:22Um, but whatever, I, I don't know.
10:24I find it strange that we have so many matches on these, these opening shows, no matter what
10:29the company is, I'd rather just see a longer card.
10:31And I know people were complaining for a hot minute that AEW had these like massively long
10:35pay-per-views.
10:36I never had a problem with that.
10:37I remember back in the day when you had WrestleMania one, two, three, all those, you were getting
10:41like eight, nine, 10, 11 matches on a card.
10:43I was okay with it.
10:43WrestleMania three was a massive card.
10:45I was okay with that.
10:46WrestleMania four was a huge card.
10:47I was okay with it.
10:48I don't know why people suddenly have like this attention deficit thing.
10:51Must be because we're all on our devices so much that we don't want to have a long attention
10:54span, but I'm fine with it.
10:56I actually think it would be better to have it on the main show.
10:59But from there, MJF confronting Mick Foley after he comes out during the, uh, the buy-in
11:04pre-show, uh, selling the fact that Mick Foley is all elite.
11:08As we reported here in a previous episode, um, there is some physical altercation here
11:12there.
11:12I love the mic work Foley, you know, referencing the rock, which I thought was interesting
11:16considering the rock is on the board of TKO.
11:19You would think that he probably wouldn't bring up somebody from the TKO is bored, but
11:23whatever.
11:24It does show that they're willing to go there where WWE typically does not.
11:28I do know.
11:29Typically, sometimes you'll hear WWE, especially when like evil debuted on, on, uh, on NXT,
11:34they mentioned new Japan, but you don't hear him talk.
11:36They don't, I certainly don't reference superstars from AEW frequently once in a while.
11:41You hear Seth Rollins say mocks, but beyond that, you don't see any references to AEW unless
11:47they kind of like breeze past it, whereas AEW, this is leaning all the way in with the name
11:51and Dwayne, the rock Johnson, which was very cool talking trash about how he never had a
11:55match that ended in two minutes and 15 seconds.
11:57Like MJF did when he lost the world title to Darby Allen.
12:01Um, but at the end of the day, I thought this was a great way to introduce Mick to the,
12:05to the company.
12:06I think it's genuine excitement in him to be there and be a part of the show.
12:11And I couldn't be happier to see him be able to contribute to wrestling in some way on
12:14a substantial level.
12:15I'm sure we're going to see more of him moving forward.
12:18He'll be at dynamites and collisions and things like that.
12:20He has so much to offer and I think it's just a phenomenal signing for Tony Khan.
12:25I know it was politically driven, which I'm not a big fan of that kind of stuff.
12:28You know, Mick Foley had no problem with anything.
12:30The first Trump administration, now the second one.
12:32And it was, it basically came down to a Rom Ryan, Rob Reiner situation is why he left.
12:37When he put out that tweet back in like December, I've had all I can stand.
12:40I can't stand no more.
12:41All the other stuff is fine, but man, you make fun of Rob Reiner, which some people had
12:46some problems with Rob Reiner.
12:47I'm not, I don't, I couldn't care less, but some people did.
12:50So I don't know, man.
12:52It just seems, it seems it's too political for me.
12:55But if WWE wasn't going to use him in any serious capacity, AEW doing so, it just warms
13:01my heart because Mick Foley is a guy, if you've ever met him in person, one of the nicest
13:05human beings walking the planet.
13:07He really has so much.
13:08And for a guy who was dropped on his head so much in the wrestling matches, his, his
13:13memory is crystal clear.
13:15He's phenomenal.
13:16So if you ever get a chance at a con or something like that, go to his table, talk to
13:20the man.
13:20Don't just walk up and sign something to actually engage in a conversation because he loves to
13:24do that.
13:24Bring up some memories.
13:25Talk about some random crazy stuff that you wouldn't expect him.
13:28Talk to him about when he wrote his books and whatnot, and I don't just mean the wrestling
13:32books.
13:34Gosh, I forget the name of the one that was, that was so controversial.
13:36Oh my gosh.
13:38Tatum, something or other.
13:39I can't remember the name of it completely off the top of my head.
13:41I'm trying to wing it, but I talked about that stuff, you know, Tatum Brown, I believe
13:45it was called crazy book.
13:48If you haven't read it, check it out.
13:49Very cool.
13:49Interesting.
13:50It's nothing, not wrestling related whatsoever.
13:52So check that out, but I'm glad to see him in AEW.
13:55Now, the main show itself, I thought the opening match, FTR versus Cage and Cope was fantastic.
14:02Glad to see Cage and Cope get their AEW moment.
14:05I'm sure it's going to lead to a match with the Young Bucks.
14:08Word this week is, is that FTR's contracts are coming up this year for whether or not they
14:13get their, their option year fulfilled or, and there's already apparently some sniffing
14:18around by WWE that they may be interested in re-signing them.
14:21So I suspect Tony Khan will throw money at them.
14:23Um, they feel like with all their dedication, all their loyalty, that they should be some
14:28of the top paid talents in the company.
14:30I don't know if Tony wants to go there.
14:32Um, if he doesn't, I feel like that's a tag team that WWE would be very happy to make a
14:38very large money offer too.
14:40Even though they've been shedding salary with some of the cuts, FTR would be fresh.
14:46You investing in fresh talent is one thing.
14:48And investing your money in people you've done as much as you feel like you could do at that
14:51time with is different.
14:53So somebody like the new day, them leaving is because you've already done everything
14:56you can at that point in time.
14:57Now that doesn't mean the new day can't come back 10 years later and do some nostalgia thing.
15:02But for right now, we haven't seen FTR and WWE for quite a while.
15:05They would be fresh there.
15:06I suspect we're at least a year away from that.
15:08And I suspect that Tony is going to make him a big money offer to stay in AEW.
15:12And they very well probably will take it.
15:15Um, if they do take this, I don't think we'll ever see him in WWE again.
15:19I really don't.
15:19Just based on their history, but we'll have to wait and see.
15:23Um, at the end of the match, seeing Cajun Cope get the tag team championship was wonderful,
15:27which led into the Okada versus Takeshka match for the international championship.
15:32I think everybody in the world was looking forward to this match.
15:35If you were a diehard fan of AEW, these two, it's been building for so many months, built
15:39so well, so perfect.
15:42And the match itself, I know Okada takes a lot of heat because he's not, I don't want
15:47to say he's not as good as he was when he was in Japan.
15:49I just don't think he brings the same level of passion he did as when he was in Japan.
15:53But this match, he did a great job.
15:55Fantastic match.
15:57Takeshka leaves as the new champion.
15:59And before he gets out of the ring, the returning Kyle Fletcher lays him out.
16:03Uh, the whole Don Callis family basically turns their back on Takeshka and, uh, it's going
16:09to be interesting to seek Takeshka as a baby face, which is clearly how they're going to
16:15make things go.
16:16Um, I'll be curious to see how that, that plays out.
16:19Um, it started out with, you know, Fletcher giving him a hug and whatnot, but then he blinds
16:22out of them with a clothesline and Don Callis is smiling.
16:24So, um, I think it's obvious, um, where they're going with this with the Athena Mina Shirakawa
16:31match.
16:32Again, the ladies don't get enough respect.
16:34Some of the top talent in the world, Athena is incredible.
16:37She picks up the win and moves on in the Owen Hart tournament.
16:40Not that we didn't see it coming, but I'm just curious how long she's going to keep that
16:44Ring of Honor Women's Championship because I feel like she is meant for the AEW Women's
16:49Championship.
16:50And for whatever reason, they haven't done that with her yet.
16:52And I, it's, it's shocking.
16:53Are we really trying to compare her run to Roman Reigns?
16:57Because there is no comparison, nothing on Ring of Honor, the Indies or AEW will ever
17:02compare to, be to headlining WWE for an extended period of time because of the distribution
17:06difference.
17:07Um, and shareholders to answer to when somebody is not drawing enough.
17:11I don't think anybody's going to argue that Athena is drawing like Roman Reigns.
17:15So I don't know why that would be a thing.
17:16So if that's not a thing, I would love to see them get that Ring of Honor Championship off
17:20of her at some point.
17:20So she can move into AEW, become AEW Women's Champion.
17:23Like, I believe she absolutely deserves.
17:26Uh, we go from there to Jon Moxley versus Kyle O'Reilly.
17:29No time limit for the, uh, Continental Championship.
17:32This was very physical, great match.
17:35And I loved at the end of the match when Moxley retains the handshake with both groups out
17:40there.
17:40It just shows a level of professionalism.
17:42You don't often see in AEW.
17:44It's always blood, lust, and all that kind of craziness.
17:46I thought the match was solid.
17:47I really did.
17:48I think that O'Reilly was believable.
17:51You could have seen him winning at some point.
17:53I think the booking leading up to this told us that that wasn't going to be the case,
17:57but you certainly could feel it.
17:58If it would have, it wouldn't have been a shock.
17:59And that's based on all the great booking that Tony Khan has done up to this point with
18:03these two.
18:04Um, great match.
18:05Another solid one.
18:06We go from there to Will Ospreay versus Samoa.
18:08Joe quarterfinals of the Owen Hart.
18:11I expected a little bit more actually out of this match.
18:14Not that there's anything bad to say about the match.
18:16They both, these guys can go.
18:17They really can.
18:18And I think Joe is a step slower now than he was, obviously, a few years back.
18:22Several injuries, I think, are starting to catch up with him and whatnot.
18:24But he still put on a pretty good performance with Will Ospreay, who is one of the best
18:28wrestlers in the world, if not the best wrestler in the world.
18:30And I think we all know where this is headed.
18:32I think Will Ospreay is going to win the tournament and go on to headline at Wembley.
18:36We'll have to wait and see.
18:37Probably against MJF.
18:39It's a match everybody wants to see anyways.
18:41And Wembley means so much to Will Ospreay.
18:43He did an interview this week talking about that.
18:44So, but I don't think there was any surprise there.
18:47The Swerve Strickland-Bandito match, again, I didn't, I wasn't expecting Bandito to win.
18:52But it's, it's almost like the Athena situation.
18:55He's got that Ring of Honor World Championship.
18:56Is he going to be a primetime player in AEW?
18:59If he is, get the Ring of Honor Championship off him and give it to somebody else who can
19:02help the Ring of Honor brand so they can hopefully get a television distribution deal
19:05at some point.
19:06If not, just put him over there.
19:08Leave him there.
19:08Don't be bringing him to AEW.
19:10You've got to have star power in both brands or it's not worth having two different brands.
19:13You know, it's kind of like SmackDown and Raw have to have respective top tier talent.
19:18Do they switch back and forth every once in a while?
19:19Yeah, of course.
19:20But not as frequently as AEW does with Ring of Honor.
19:23And I really, you know, as I said, I expected Swerve to win.
19:28I actually expect Swerve to be in the finals against Will Ospreay of the Owen Hart.
19:31But I just would have liked to have seen a little bit more for Bandito in that and more
19:37close falls.
19:38I really thought that would have been great.
19:40Just so even in loss, he looks solid to the women's championship match.
19:44It felt like it was just rushed and thrown together.
19:47I saw an article this week where somebody on, I believe it was Wrestling Inc.
19:51was comparing her to Luna Vachon.
19:53I could see the comparison.
19:55She's incredible.
19:56She's a phenomenal talent.
19:57She retains her championship here.
19:58And I think she kind of had to because they hadn't built this real well.
20:02And I believe what they're doing is they're holding her in the championship picture, holding
20:07that title, waiting for Mercedes to come back to finally take the AEW Women's Championship.
20:13It's been quite a while since we've seen Mercedes do anything.
20:16I know she's taking some time off, but I think she is the one that's going to come back and
20:20going to take that championship from Selka.
20:21So this was a great match for what it was.
20:24Rushed planning and whatnot, but still pretty solid.
20:27Moving on from there, Stadium Stampede, Team Jericho, Team Ricochet.
20:32Look, this was what it was.
20:33I love the fact that everything was filmed live.
20:35So this wasn't some pre-taped match.
20:37It was very solid.
20:39I thought the bus thing, some people had a problem with that because of some recent current
20:43events in the area.
20:45I'm not that guy.
20:46I'm just not.
20:47It's pro wrestling.
20:48If you take it that seriously, you got an issue.
20:50I love the Leo Rush appearance, which was really funny.
20:54That kind of came out of nowhere.
20:55I thought that was a cool little tie in.
20:59And then we see Jericho's team ends up picking up the win, which I think we kind of needed
21:04that after all the wins for Ricochet in the last several months.
21:08Not sure where they're going to go with this with Chris Jericho because he's done so much
21:11in AEW.
21:12And obviously he's his contract still hasn't run out or else he would have gone to WWE.
21:16At least that's my firm belief.
21:17But I wonder if he signed another contract with AEW.
21:20We haven't gotten confirmation or denial.
21:24But again, where do you go from here?
21:26Does this wrap up the Ricochet feud?
21:28Does he move into something with the Herb syndicate?
21:31Does Lashley finally move into something more prominent?
21:34I really wish he would.
21:35He deserves in the world championship picture.
21:36No time soon, obviously.
21:38And if you look down the line, when is he going to get into the world championship picture?
21:42Is he going to go after MJF?
21:43Probably not because that would be Will Ospreay.
21:45Is he going to face Swerve?
21:47Maybe.
21:47Can he face...
21:48Who else could he possibly go against?
21:50Kenny Omega?
21:52I don't know how that match plays out.
21:53That seems very strange also.
21:55I don't know.
21:56He's so WWE-esque.
21:58It's hard for me to see where he fits into the grand scheme of things in AEW.
22:02So we'll have to wait and see.
22:03But I'm sure they'll find some way to get him into that world championship picture at some point.
22:06Which will be very exciting.
22:08And then we get to the main event.
22:09Darby Allin defending the championship against MJF.
22:12Title versus Hair.
22:13I wanted the hair to come off so bad.
22:16But Darby Allin does lose the match.
22:19I don't know.
22:20I guess I should have known it was coming.
22:22The betting odds said it was coming.
22:23I really just thought it would have done more.
22:26And I love that MJF did an interview this week where he talked about how Vince McMahon's The Reason and
22:31Hair matches were comedic.
22:33Prior to that, when they were used in places like Memphis and World Class and places like that.
22:37It was so serious.
22:38He's right.
22:39It was, and AEW usually books like that and in World Class.
22:43That's the same angle like Gentleman Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez and people like that would do Tully Blanchard where
22:49their hair was on the line and actually meant something.
22:51And I always think it means more when somebody actually loses their hair.
22:55When they don't, you just change the title.
22:56I just feel like it's a waste of an opportunity.
22:59And then we see the turn.
23:01The Kevin Knight coming out, chasing off MJF, and then blindsiding Darby Allin.
23:09You know, and that kind of took me by surprise.
23:11I wasn't expecting Kevin Knight to turn.
23:13But if this is what it takes to move him into a prime situation, then more power to him.
23:20He is obviously worldly talented.
23:22Somebody who I think could easily be at the top of the card.
23:25But it just wasn't something I was seeing and expecting that soon.
23:28That's all the time we have for this episode.
