02:55Tonight, jumping into the news, AEW is denying reports that came out this week that they are actively in negotiations
03:02with now former WWE superstar Alistair Black for a potential return to the company.
03:08Word broke earlier in the week that that was the case.
03:10They were in active negotiations, basically waiting on his non-compete clause to run out, and that then he would
03:15be able to resign with the company.
03:16Apparently, according to sources in AEW, they are directly refuting that claim, stating that he is absolutely not looking to
03:24be rejoining the company anytime soon.
03:26There were several talents when his departure from WWE was announced that were clearly not happy about the notion of
03:33him coming back to AEW.
03:34Did not leave on the best terms, apparently.
03:36There was a lot of conversation about the fact that he never wanted to lose matches.
03:40Felt like it would take something away from his character and whatnot.
03:42Didn't really do a ton in AEW other than hold the trios championship with the House of Black, and it
03:48doesn't sound like there's a huge welcoming presence waiting to bring him back to the company.
03:53But when that report came out, people started, you know, the wheels start turning.
03:57You start thinking, like, look, time heals all wounds.
04:01Everything's water under the bridge.
04:02Maybe he goes back.
04:03Maybe he does it better the next time around.
04:04I think in terms of the other talent on the roster, I think it's better for people like Brody King
04:09if he doesn't come back because Brody's doing quite well for himself right now.
04:13But he is certainly a talented individual and somebody who I believe would make a great contribution to any roster.
04:19But it sounds like AEW is not the place for him right now.
04:22I don't know where he goes from here.
04:24Perhaps TNA because it's another domestic location.
04:27If he wants to go international, I'm fairly certain that New Japan Pro Wrestling would be happy to have him,
04:32as would people like MLW and the like.
04:35So we'll have to wait and see still.
04:37But from what it sounds like, it will not be AEW.
04:39Now, somebody else who is in conversations, not necessarily with the company, but has had conversations with Will Ospreay, a
04:46member of the AEW roster,
04:48is independent superstar Charlie, formerly WWE superstar Dakota Kai.
04:53She decided to take a break after her release from WWE throughout 2025 and then through Will Ospreay was able
05:01to negotiate a return to the ring.
05:03She was talking with Insight with Chris Van Vliet and talked about her decision to take some time away.
05:07And when she finally did come back, she wanted to come back on her terms.
05:11She wanted to do it for the fun is what she kept saying in the interview.
05:14And she mentioned that it was Will Ospreay that reached out to her, asked her about how she would feel
05:20about being involved in Pro Wrestling Eve,
05:22something that he's involved with in the UK.
05:24And she agreed to show up.
05:25She ended up wrestling Chris Statlander.
05:27And one of the things she said was is that Chris Statlander, she said, she's been on my bucket list
05:31for years.
05:32So she got to step away for a while, do things on her terms, come back, have that match with
05:36Statlander.
05:37And now who knows if she really is getting back into the swing of things and enjoying what she was
05:41doing all over again.
05:42I hope she does get an opportunity to come back to a major promotion because I think she has so
05:47much more to offer than WWE ever let her do.
05:49It's almost like when you look at some of the wrestling talent, the size of the guys, WWE versus AEW.
05:56There's not a lot of guys in AEW the size of an Obafemi or the size of a Roman Reigns
06:00or things like that.
06:01Not that they don't have any big jacked up guys like that, but they seem to push their professional wrestlers
06:06for using,
06:07I'll use that term instead of sports entertainers, more than WWE does.
06:11And WWE pushes more of the sports entertainers, the big personalities, the big bodies, the big muscles.
06:17That's probably why we see people like Carmelo Hayes move down the card while somebody like a Trick Williams moves
06:22up the card.
06:22So WWE has always put a premium on that for little dips in time here and there.
06:27Somebody else will move up the ladder basically because the fans want them to.
06:30But if she were to go to AEW in a similar way with the women, you know, in WWE, if
06:35you're not Becky Lynch, if you're not Charlotte, if you're not Rhea Ripley,
06:40if you're not one of the premium toppity, toppity, top people, you don't seem to get a break.
06:44Look at Chelsea Green.
06:45How is it that Chelsea Green, as over as she is with the fans, has never been world champion?
06:50Well, it's because she can't break through that imaginary ceiling of the Charlottes, of the Beckys, of the Baileys, and
06:56get to that next level.
06:58I hope she does at some point, but I don't see it being very likely.
07:01So for somebody like Dakota Kai or Charlie, if you want to refer to her as her current name, there
07:07was never going to be an opportunity for her to be a world champion.
07:09Maybe now with the Intercontinental United States, she may have had a shot at something like that.
07:13But WWE just never seemed to know what to do to really maximize her utility.
07:17So hopefully, if she does decide to maybe have a conversation or maybe pick up a contract with AEW, hopefully
07:24they would find a way to better use her, maximize her skill set.
07:27Because I think she really does have a lot to offer.
07:31Going on from there, some interesting news broke about Dark Side of the Ring.
07:34Season 7 is going to be coming out very soon.
07:37And Season 7 looks like it's going to be very, very interesting.
07:40They've done all these in-depth conversations across the years.
07:44And this year is going to be no less than controversial.
07:48They're going to start with a three-hour episode about TNA Wrestling, including conversations with Jeff Jarrett.
07:54And it should be very, very exciting.
07:58They're calling it, quote, our most ambitious yet in terms of Season 7.
08:03Other topics that they'll cover this season are going to be things like Samoa Joe vs. Necro Butcher, stories about
08:09Missy Hyatt, Zach Gowen, the big boss man, Paul Orndorff, and Rick Wilson, who when I first read that, the
08:16name rung a bell, but I couldn't remember who that was.
08:18Rick Wilson was the gentleman who portrayed the character The Renegade in WCW, who was like, he was on the
08:25indie scene, he teamed with the Ultimate Warrior somewhere, and he kind of resembled the Warrior.
08:29And Hulk Hogan put together a deal to bring him into WCW to kind of capitalize on the Warrior's fame.
08:34And then when they got the real Warrior, they didn't need him anymore.
08:36He won the Television Championship, and then eventually, if memory serves, and I could be wrong, so I apologize if
08:41I'm wrong about this, but I believe he did pass away through suicide.
08:46And they're going to cover that in this season.
08:47So a lot of really interesting episodes.
08:50Hopefully they can bring the same kind of attention and fervor to the product that they've done in the past.
08:55Because Dark Side of the Ring, for all that some people can complain about how it's all these bad things,
09:00the bad stories need to be told too.
09:01We can't just glorify, and that's it.
09:03So these guys are doing a great job of letting you know some of these darker elements of the business.
09:08And I know it may sound insane to me, to some people, but people who want to get into this
09:13need to know the good and the bad, not just the good all the time.
09:16So something like Dark Side of the Ring definitely has its place and definitely has utility for those who are
09:21interested in getting into the business.
09:23Got to jump into the Dynamite three-hour show from last night.
09:28I thought it was an interesting show.
09:30I thought the arrangement of the matches was very strange to me.
09:34Let's go through them.
09:35Jon Moxley defeated Juice Robinson in a Continental Championship Eliminator match.
09:40It's always weird for me that he's the Continental Champion and that Kazuchika Okada is still the international champion.
09:46They split up that interesting unified championship that they had, but whatever.
09:51I don't think anybody expected Moxley to lose here.
09:54Eventually, they're in the back.
09:55There's a backstage package where they're working with Will Ospreay, getting him ready to be a part of their journey.
10:04And it's just a really interesting storyline they're telling with Ospreay and the Death Riders.
10:10We do head into a multi-person match.
10:13Dax Harwood, who has Cash Wheeler, Stokely Hathaway, Tommaso Ciampa, Mark Davis, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, and the Dogs all
10:21with him versus Orange Cassidy, who has Roderick Strong, Kylo Reilly, the Young Bucks, Edge, and Christian in a double
10:28Jeopardy match.
10:30This match, I could have done with it being shorter, I think.
10:34I don't think it needed to go quite as long as it did.
10:37There is a win for Orange Cassidy.
10:38He picks up the win, which I found interesting.
10:41Somebody put online the other day, Orange Cassidy just turned the same age this year that Hulk Hogan turned when
10:47Hulk Hogan turned heel and became a member of the NWO at Bash at the Beach.
10:52I want you to think about that in terms of the age of the characters, because people always said Hogan
10:57was so over the hill and so old when that all went down.
10:59He was the same age as Orange Cassidy is right now.
11:02So just throwing that out there, a little interesting side tidbit.
11:04But Cassidy picks up the win here.
11:07There is a whole melee after the fact, and everybody's in the ring, and eventually Rocky Romero's left alone in
11:12the ring with Edge and Christian and the Bucks, the Conglomeration, all that stuff.
11:18But, whatever.
11:19We get into a thing where Chris Jericho is calling out Ricochet, and I think everybody could see where this
11:24was going.
11:25It's a three-on-one advantage against Jericho.
11:28Eventually, it's going to lead to the Hurt Syndicate's music coming on, and they run out to the ring, and
11:33they support Jericho.
11:34And this is going to be one of those things where they are challenging.
11:37The demand is challenging Jericho to a – yeah, what the heck do they call the match?
11:45His Stadium Stampede.
11:48Is that what they call it?
11:49The Stadium Stampede match, the one that he created a few years back.
11:52So it sounds like Jericho's going to team up with the Hurt Syndicate to take on the demand, and we'll
11:58see if anybody else has added to that.
12:00I suspect they probably will be.
12:02Beyond that, we get Okada taking on Brian Keith for the international championship.
12:06Again, still weird to see if they split up that one belt.
12:09But, of course, Brian Keith gets almost no offense in here.
12:13It gets pretty much squashed.
12:16And then Okada starts talking trash about the AEW World Championship.
12:20He's got something in the handle right now with Konosuke Takeshka.
12:23I don't know why you're injecting him into the AEW World Championship conversation right now.
12:26It just seems like it's bad timing.
12:29After that, we get to Shida and Statlander versus Shirakawa and Harley Cameron.
12:34I guess this is what you do when you have a whole lot of women on the roster that are
12:37essentially at the same level.
12:39To get them TV time, you put them in a tag team match.
12:42Shida and Statlander win.
12:43I don't think this helps or hurts anybody.
12:45There was an awkward backstage segment where Harley Cameron, apparently the word didn't get out that she didn't have gear
12:50on.
12:50And Shirakawa ripped her top off.
12:52And Renee Young's reaction was kind of priceless.
12:56But decent match, I suppose, for what it is.
13:00Shida and Statlander, as I said, coming out with the win.
13:02And what shocks me is right after this, it's a three-hour show.
13:05We go into the World Championship match.
13:07Darby Allin versus Kevin Knight for the AEW Championship.
13:10Darby Allin, of course, retains the championship.
13:13But I would have expected this to go on last, especially with what follows it up.
13:16After the match, Sting makes his way out to the ring.
13:20He basically extends a hand to Kevin Knight.
13:23He shakes, you know, out of respect.
13:25He shakes their hand, raises their hand.
13:27MJF comes out.
13:28He wants another World Championship match.
13:30And basically it comes down to MJF putting his hair on the line in a World Championship match to go
13:37against Darby Allin next Wednesday.
13:41I don't know what they do with this.
13:42I can't imagine MJF getting his hair shaved.
13:44But I can't imagine taking the championship off Darby already.
13:47Unless he has an injury that we don't know about.
13:49That might explain something.
13:51The taping then goes to AR Fox versus Speedball Mike Bailey.
13:55I don't think anybody expected AR Fox to do much here.
13:58The ultimate weapon at the end, Mike Bailey picks up the win.
14:01We have Sky Blue versus Jamie Hayter.
14:04Another solid match, television-style match.
14:06Jamie Hayter comes out and wins.
14:08I hope they start giving Hayter more wins so they can build her back to the level she was previously
14:12when she was World Champion quality material.
14:15Lately, she's been on the downturn.
14:16Falca and Julia Hart were in the crowd.
14:21I guess she's in that mix.
14:23But I just don't feel like she's as credible as she used to be.
14:26And Falca is doing great work as the World Champion.
14:28So, I don't know.
14:29I hope they get her back to feeling like she could be a legitimate threat to that championship.
14:33I just don't feel it yet.
14:34Roosh versus Manny Lowe.
14:36Complete throwaway match.
14:37Total squash.
14:38Roosh wins.
14:41Shouts out his catchphrase.
14:42And then we get to the main event of the night.
14:43Death Riders and the Dogs versus the Young Bucks and the Bang Bang Gang.
14:47And I feel like this is another match where the Dogs end up taking a loss.
14:52You know, Death Riders, I don't really care if they win or lose.
14:54I don't think it helps or hurts them.
14:56Same thing with the Young Bucks.
14:57The Bang Bang Gang, maybe.
14:59But we do see at the end of this match, I feel like every time Wheeler Yuta is in a
15:04match, he's there just to get beat.
15:06So, that's how this goes down.
15:08The Bucks take down Claudio Castagnoli and Clark Connors.
15:12And then you end up getting a neck breaker on Wheeler Yuta and getting the pin.
15:16And that's how they close out the show.
15:19All in all, the matches were actually really solid.
15:22I was impressed with Dynamite.
15:23What I was surprised with is the World Championship match not going on last.
15:27Not seeing if you're going to do the Okada tees for the championship.
15:30That should have happened right before the World Championship match.
15:33So, maybe they could have walked past each other as Okada left and Darby came to the ring.
15:37I don't know.
15:38It just felt very disjointed to me.
15:39It didn't seem to have the continuity that they usually have.
15:42But, in terms of wrestling action, I thought it was pretty solid.
15:46That's all the time we have for this episode.
