02:42on in a future episode give me a shout over to fro wrestling sound offline 267-642-1160 and i
02:47will get
02:47to those in a future episode but right now we are putting out the conversation related to mick foley
02:53on a previous episode we discussed the fact that there was conversation about when mick foley's
02:58contract his legends deal with wwe was up he was planning to part way with the company because he
03:04was upset with their closeness to president of the united states donald trump he wanted to
03:09get away from that it's not something he could be supportive of it's not it's not aligned with his
03:14values and uh it sounds as though that time has come to pass now mick foley has been announced as
03:21working the opening zero hour with renee paquette for aew double or nothing this is a huge get for aew
03:29if
03:30they have something serviceable for him to do the question all along has been if mick foley were to
03:35go there what is it that they're going to have to do what on-screen position would he have would
03:38he be
03:39an authority figure would he be a manager what would he do and tony khan has had a a history
03:44of bringing
03:45in past wwe legends to participate in some way shape or form that's why the big show is there mark
03:50henry
03:51was there various people have been there over the years uh arn anderson stuff like that this you
03:56seem like it may be another one of those but this sounds like maybe because of his incredible wit
04:02and how intelligent this man is and his his lyrical style he's so so um cat he's he's got such
04:11a
04:11captivating way of doing commentary um it sounds like this may be the role for him he's going to
04:17be doing some form of commentary hopefully going forward because tony khan's announcement about this
04:23has not said that mick foley is all elite okay let's be clear hasn't said that but it did say
04:27his
04:28first night which in a way would imply that there will be other nights which i hope is the case
04:34i'd
04:34love to see mick foley heavily involved he's incredible he always has been if you've never
04:38met the guy i always had the privilege of meeting him at lockdown in philadelphia a few years back the
04:43year that uh he wrestled sting in tna for the tna world championship he was such a nice guy super
04:49personable super approachable he's never let the fame and the fortune go to his head he's just a
04:54down-to-earth dude i love seeing somebody like that who wants to give back to the business wants to
05:00be
05:00a part of the show and wants to do something that matters and whether you agree with him or don't
05:06agree
05:06with him politically that is for you to decide on this show we will never tell you what to believe
05:10who you should side with or not side with if you're if you're you're a pro trump person anti-trump
05:16person that is up to you to decide but you have to give kudos to somebody who's willing to put
05:21their
05:21career on the line for their political perspective and things that they don't align with so regardless
05:27of how i feel personally which i never divulge here or how anybody feels personally you certainly have
05:33to respect someone who puts their their moral fiber ahead of the dollar sign and i love that he's
05:40doing that no matter how you fall um because it there's not a lot of people these days it seems
05:45in
05:45mass media in powerful positions who um stick to their moral fiber not when it comes at the expense
05:52of cash it just doesn't seem to happen as frequently so i'm really i'm really proud of him for for
05:58being
05:59so true to who he is and really trying to make uh make a statement with with you know ending
06:05his time
06:05with wwe and look i'm sure it's relatively amicable maybe he'll go to aew for a few years maybe he'll
06:11come
06:11back to wwe at some point maybe not maybe tko doesn't care maybe triple h doesn't care i don't
06:17know but um i do love seeing the opportunity to have him on camera now i know a couple years
06:22ago
06:22there was conversation about a match with he and mjf i i don't know how i feel about that now
06:28word came
06:29out he had some scans done and the doctors were not in favor of that uh so i don't know
06:33that we'll
06:34ever see that but i certainly would not be necessarily opposed to it if done correctly
06:39but either way i think even if it's just this just doing commentary and being in this uh backstage
06:46role i still think mick foley brings a lot to the table a lot to the conversation and provides
06:52valuable insight um with all of his experience in the business that and he and let's be honest
06:57when you think about the aew product he's his wrestling style is much more aligned with aew than
07:02it is wwe maybe not back in the attitude era when he wrestled back then wwe was going for a
07:07more
07:07risque product and a more you know hard-hitting reality-based product heavily influenced by ecw and
07:13things like that but nowadays it's it's less like that it's more family friendly more you know pyro and
07:20entrances and you know lots of commercials and not nearly as much wrestling action and certainly not as
07:27much of the violence and the blood and the gore where aew we do see a lot more of that
07:31so i think
07:32mick foley is a great fit for this and i wish him nothing but the best in this opportunity he's
07:37taking to um basically reinvent himself and you know this is not like a grab a paycheck kind of
07:44thing i feel like he legitimately wants to contribute in some way shape or form and tony khan probably put
07:49together an offer that was very advantageous that he can work with and i if you look at the way
07:55tony
07:55khan and mick foley have represented themselves in the past whether that was conversations about people
08:00who are you know more controversial wrestling figures like hulk hogan or or things like that
08:05i feel like they have always seemed to be relatively in lockstep in terms of how they feel politically
08:10and um socially so i think it's probably a match made in heaven so kudos to mick foley i'm glad
08:16that
08:16he's going to get the opportunity to do that and we'll have to see how it plays out over time
08:20but
08:20for in the meantime i'm really happy for the guy i hope he really enjoys this opportunity and makes
08:25the most of it for now that's all the time we have for this episode check back with us next
