00:00The First Epistle General of Peter, King James Version, read by Justin Bible.
00:08May God bless you with an unquenchable thirst for his holy word, the Bible.
00:151 Peter, Chapter 1
00:17Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the stranger scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia,
00:25Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of
00:32the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.
00:36Grace unto you, and peace be multiplied.
00:40Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy
00:46hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
00:52dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fate if not away, reserved in heaven
00:59for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed
01:04in the last time.
01:06Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through
01:12manifold temptations.
01:14That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though
01:20it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise, and honor, and glory, at the appearing
01:26of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen, ye love, and whom though now ye see him not, yet believing,
01:33ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith, even
01:40the salvation of your souls.
01:42Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the
01:48grace that should come unto you, searching what, or what manner of time the spirit of
01:53Christ, which was in them, did signify, when it testified beforehand, the sufferings of
01:58Christ, and the glory that should follow, unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves,
02:04but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you, by them that have
02:10preached the gospel unto you, with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, which things the
02:15angels desire to look into.
02:18Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that
02:24is to be brought unto you, at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as obedient children, not fashioning
02:30yourselves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance.
02:34But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy, in all manner of conversation.
02:40Because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.
02:45And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every
02:50man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.
02:54For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,
03:00from your vain conversation, received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood
03:06of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, who verily was foreordained before
03:12the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do
03:18believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and
03:24hope might be in God.
03:26Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love
03:32of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently, being born again,
03:38not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth
03:44for ever.
03:45For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
03:51The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.
03:55But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
03:59And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
04:101 Peter 2
04:14Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil
04:20speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
04:25If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious, to whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed
04:34indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual
04:41house, and holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God, by Jesus Christ.
04:49Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone,
04:56elect, precious, and he that believeth on him, shall not be confounded.
05:02Unto you therefore which believe, he is precious.
05:05But unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made
05:11the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble
05:17at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.
05:22But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye
05:30should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness, into his marvelous
05:36light, which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, which had not
05:42obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
05:46Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which
05:53war against the soul, having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that whereas they
06:00speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify
06:06God in the day of visitation.
06:09Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the
06:14king, as supreme, or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment
06:20of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
06:24For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish
06:30men, as free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants
06:36of God.
06:38Honor all men.
06:39Love the brotherhood.
06:41Fear God.
06:42Honor the king.
06:44Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle,
06:50but also to the froward.
06:51For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
06:58For what glory is it, if when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently?
07:04But if when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently?
07:08This is acceptable with God.
07:11For even hereunto were ye called.
07:13Because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps,
07:20who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth, who, when he was reviled, reviled
07:26not again.
07:27When he suffered, he threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.
07:33Who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins,
07:39should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes ye were healed.
07:44For ye were as sheep going astray, but are now returned unto the shepherd and bishop of
07:51your souls.
07:581 Peter 3
08:01Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, that if any obey not the word,
08:07they also may without the word, be won by the conversation of the wives, while they behold
08:12your chaste conversation coupled with fear, whose adorning, let it not be that outward
08:18adorning, of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel, but let
08:25it be the hidden man of the heart, and that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of
08:31a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God, of great price.
08:35For after this manner in the old time, the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned
08:42themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands, even as Sarah obeyed Abraham,
08:47calling him Lord, whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with
08:53any amazement.
08:54Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as
09:00unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers
09:05be not hindered.
09:06Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful,
09:14be courteous, not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing, but contrary wise blessing,
09:22knowing that ye are there unto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
09:26For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his
09:32lips, that they speak no guile.
09:34Let him eschew evil, and do good.
09:37Let him seek peace, and ensue it.
09:40For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers.
09:46But the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
09:50And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
09:55But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye, and be not afraid of their terror,
10:01neither be troubled, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to
10:07give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness
10:12and fear.
10:13Having a good conscience, that whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may
10:19be ashamed, that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
10:24For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evildoing.
10:31For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring
10:37us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit, by which also he
10:43went and preached unto the spirits in prison, which sometime were disobedient, when once
10:49the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a-preparing, wherein
10:54few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
10:58The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us, not the putting away of the
11:04filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection
11:09of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God, angels and
11:15authorities and powers, being made subject unto Him.
11:241 Peter, chapter 4
11:26For as much then, as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with
11:32the same mind.
11:33For he that hath suffered in the flesh, have ceased from sin, that he no longer should live
11:39the rest of his time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
11:45For the time past of our life, may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles,
11:50when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable
11:58idolatries, wherein they think it strange, that ye run not with them, to the same excess
12:03of riot, speaking evil of you, who shall give account to him, that is ready to judge
12:08the quick and the dead.
12:09For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be
12:15judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
12:19But the end of all things is at hand.
12:22Be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
12:26And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves, for charity shall cover the
12:31multitude of sins.
12:33Use hospitality one to another, without grudging.
12:37As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good
12:43stewards of the manifold grace of God.
12:45If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God.
12:49If any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth, that God in all things
12:56may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever.
13:01Amen.
13:04Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though
13:09some strange thing happened unto you.
13:12But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, that, when his glory
13:18shall be revealed, ye may be glad also, with exceeding joy.
13:22If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye, for the spirit of glory and of
13:28God resteth upon you.
13:30On their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
13:36But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a
13:42busybody
13:42in other men's matters.
13:44Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this
13:50behalf.
13:50For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.
13:55And if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of
14:00God?
14:01And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
14:07Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their
14:11souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful creator.
14:211 Peter, chapter 5
14:23The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings
14:30of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed.
14:34Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint,
14:40but willingly, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, neither as being lords over
14:47God's heritage, but being in samples to the flock.
14:50And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fade if
14:55not away.
14:57Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.
15:00Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility.
15:05For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
15:10Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,
15:17casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.
15:21Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
15:29seeking whom he may devour.
15:30Whom resist, stud fast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in
15:37your brethren that are in the world.
15:38But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
15:45that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
15:51To him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
15:55Amen.
15:57By Sylvanius, a faithful brother unto you, as I supposed, I have written briefly, exhorting
16:03and testifying, that this is the true grace of God, wherein ye stand.
16:08The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you, and so doth Marcus,
16:14my son.
16:16Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity.
16:19Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus.
16:22Amen.
16:23The end of the First Epistle General of Peter, King James Version, read by Justin Bible.
16:33May God bless you with an unquenchable thirst for his holy word, the Bible.
