The parents of a missing Gasparillo man are desperately hoping for the return of their son, who has not been seen since last Wednesday.

The 36 year old man left his Whiteland home to make a police report that he was being extorted but never returned.

Our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh visited his parents today and tells us more.

00:00It's been five days since 36-year-old Simon Baguat has gone missing.
00:05On Wednesday, May 20th, he left his Corusal Road Whiteland home to make a police report in Gasparillo
00:13and has not been seen or heard from since.
00:16According to previous reports, Simon had been making payments to assist his Venezuelan girlfriend,
00:22but more money was being demanded with the threat of physical harm,
00:26prompting his visit to the Gasparillo police station two Sundays ago.
00:31Relatives say Simon was told then to return three days later to make a full report, which he did on
00:39Wednesday.
00:39What we know is that he had gone to the police to give a statement,
00:45and after giving the statement, he was gone missing.
00:50We don't have any need. We don't know exactly what is going on.
00:57He had just waiting and praying and hoping that, you know, they find him and he can come home.
01:06You know, our biggest hope is that they don't do him any harm.
01:13His mother, says Simon, the eldest of her three children, always goes out of his way to help others,
01:19and she believes it's what might have gotten him into trouble this time around.
01:24But Joshua, always a nice person, general.
01:29Everybody who have no name for all these years, you're the type of person that he has been.
01:40And always a genuine caring person, always willing to help.
02:06She's praying for his safe return and for anyone with information that can assist in locating him to come forward.
02:13So I'm appealing to anybody who knows anything, who see the vehicle, have any idea, you know, where he is.
02:24Please call the police station or inform those in authority or even call home and let us know.
02:33I want my child home.
02:37I want my child home, with me, where he belongs.
02:44I don't want nothing to happen to him and I will pray that God will bring him home safely.
02:52He has to come home.
02:53Simon last communicated with his parents while in the Gasparilo police station around 11.30 a.m. Wednesday.
03:01And someone reported seeing him later on at a Marabella gas station with his white AD wagon,
03:07which he uses as a private hire taxi.
03:10Neither Simon nor his vehicle, PDR-2070, has been located since.
