00:10O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:17O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
00:32is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:40Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:49I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
00:59I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
01:09God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
01:19Father.
01:20Through him all things were made.
01:23For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of
01:31the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:35For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:39He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:46He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:52He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
01:59I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,
02:06who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:14I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
02:18I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:23and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
02:30Amen.
02:33The Lord be with you, and also with you.
02:39Let us pray.
02:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:48Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:53Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
02:58Your kingdom come.
03:00Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
03:05Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:16Do not allow us to fall into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.
03:23Amen.
03:27O Lord, have mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
03:35Bless your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
03:44O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
03:51Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fights for it, but only you, O
03:59God.
04:01O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:06Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:20Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, including a detailed account of how he had killed all the prophets
04:27with the sword to Jezebel.
04:29Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah with this warning.
04:33May the gods judge me severely, if, by this time to borrow, I do not take your life as you
04:39did theirs.
04:43Elijah was afraid, and so he got up and fled for his life to Beersheba in Judah.
04:49He left his servant there, while he went a day's journey into the desert.
04:54He went down and sat under a shrub, and asked the Lord to take his life.
05:00I have had enough.
05:03Now, O Lord, take my life.
05:05After all, I am no better than my ancestors.
05:10He stretched out and fell asleep under the shrub.
05:15All of a sudden, an angelic messenger touched him and said,
05:19Get up and eat.
05:22And he looked, and right there by his head was a cake baking on hot coals and a jug of
05:27water.
05:30He ate and drank, and then went back to sleep.
05:34Again, the Lord's angelic messenger came back and touched him, saying,
05:38Get up and eat, for otherwise you will not be able to make the journey.
05:44So he got up and ate and drank.
05:47And the meal gave him the strength to travel forty days and forty nights,
05:51until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
05:57He went into a cave there and spent the night.
06:01All of a sudden, the Lord spoke to him.
06:06Why are you here, Elijah?
06:10He answered,
06:11I have been absolutely loyal to the Lord, the Sovereign God,
06:16even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you,
06:21torn down your altars and killed your prophets with the sword.
06:25I alone am left, and now they want to take my life.
06:32The Lord said,
06:34Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord.
06:37Look, the Lord is ready to pass by.
06:42Very powerful wind went before the Lord,
06:46digging into the mountain and causing landslides.
06:50But the Lord was not in the wind.
06:54After the wind, there was an earthquake.
06:57But the Lord was not in the earthquake.
07:01After the earthquake, there was a fire.
07:04But the Lord was not in the fire.
07:08After the fire, there was a soft whisper.
07:13When Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his robe
07:17and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave.
07:23All of a sudden, a voice asked him,
07:26Why are you here, Elijah?
07:32I have been absolutely loyal to the Lord, the Sovereign God,
07:38even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you,
07:43torn down your altars and killed your prophets with the sword.
07:47I alone am left, and now they want to take my life.
07:53The Lord said to him,
07:55Go back the way you came and head for the desert of Damascus.
08:00Go and anoint Hazael king over Syria.
08:05You must also anoint Jehu, son of Nimshi, king over Israel,
08:10and Elisha, son of Shaphat, from Abel, Meholah,
08:14to take your place as prophet.
08:18Jehu will kill anyone who escapes Hazael's sword,
08:22and Elisha will kill anyone who escapes Jehu's soil.
08:27I still have left in Israel 7,000 followers
08:31who have not bared their knees to Baal or kissed his images.
08:38Elijah went from there and found Elisha, son of Shaphat.
08:43He was ploughing with 12 pairs of oxen.
08:46He was near to the 12th pair.
08:50Elijah passed by him and threw his robe over him.
08:55He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said,
08:58Please let me kiss my father and mother goodbye.
09:01Then I will follow you.
09:04Elijah said to him,
09:06Go back. Indeed, what have I done to you?
09:10So Elisha went back and took a pair of oxen and slaughtered them.
09:15He cooked the meat over a fire
09:16that he made by burning the harness and yoke.
09:21He gave the people meat and they ate.
09:23And then he got up and followed Elijah and became his assistant.
09:29This is the word of the Lord.
09:33Thanks be to God.
09:39Teach me, O Lord, the well of my standards
09:44And I shall keep it unto the end
09:50Give me understanding and I shall keep my law
09:57May I shall keep it with my whole heart
10:05Make me to go in the path of thy commandments
10:10For there is my desire
10:15I shall keep it with my heart
10:17He grind my heart unto thy destiny
10:21And not to cover the desert
10:26O turn away my eyes, blessed name of humanity
10:34And not to cover the earth
10:38Or take it with my son
10:44I shall keep it with my heart
10:50Take away the room that I am afraid

18:13The Gospel according to Saint John, chapter 9.
18:19As Jesus was passing by,
18:22he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
18:26His disciples asked him,
18:29Rabbi, who committed the sin that caused him to be born blind,
18:33this man or his parents?
18:38Jesus answered,
18:39neither this man nor his parents sinned,
18:42but he was born blind,
18:44so that the acts of God may be revealed through what happens to him.
18:49We must perform the deeds of one who sent me as long as it is daytime.
18:55Night is coming when no one can work.
18:58As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
19:05Having said this, he spat on the ground and made some mud with the saliva.
19:10He smeared the mud on the blind man's eyes and said to him,
19:13Go wash in the pool of Siloam,
19:17which is translated,
19:19Sent.
19:20So the blind man went away and washed and came back seeing.
19:27Then the neighbours and the people who had seen him previously as a beggar began saying,
19:33Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?
19:37Some said, This is the man.
19:39While others said, No, but he does look like him.
19:44The man himself kept insisting, I am the one.
19:48And so they asked him,
19:51How then were you made to see?
19:53He replied, The man called Jesus made mud,
19:57smeared it on my eyes and told me,
19:59Go to Siloam and wash.
20:02So I went and washed and was able to see.
20:07They said to him, Where is that man?
20:10He replied, I don't know.
20:16They brought the man who used to be blind to the Pharisees
20:20because the day in which Jesus had made the mud and caused him to see was a Sabbath.
20:26So the Pharisees asked him again how he had gained his sight.
20:31He replied, He put mud on my eyes and I washed.
20:35And now I am able to see.
20:38Then some of the Pharisees began to say,
20:41This man is not from God because he does not observe the Sabbath.
20:47But others said, How can a man who is a sinner perform such miraculous signs?
20:55Thus there was a division between them.
20:59So again they asked the man who used to be blind.
21:03What can you say about him since he caused you to see?
21:08He is a prophet, the man replied.
21:12Now the Jewish religious leaders refused to believe that he had really been blind.
21:18And had gained his sight until at last they summoned the parents of the man who had been come able
21:24to see.
21:26And they asked them, Is this your son who you say was born blind?
21:32How then does he see?
21:36So his parents replied, We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
21:43But we do not know how he is now able to see.
21:47Nor do we know who caused him to see.
21:50Ask him, for he is a mature adult.
21:54He can speak for himself.
21:57His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Pharisees.
22:02For they had already agreed that anyone who confessed Jesus to be the Christ should be put out of the
22:08synagogue.
22:09And for this reason his parents said, He is a mature adult.
22:15You should ask him.
22:19Then they summoned the man who used to be blind a second time and said to him.
22:24Promise before God to tell the truth.
22:26We know that this man is a sinner.
22:30He replied, I do not know whether he is a sinner or not.
22:35I know but one thing, that although I was blind now I can see.
22:42Then they said to him, What did he do to you?
22:45How did he cause you to see?
22:48He answered, I have already told you and you didn't want to listen.
22:53So why do you now want to hear it again?
22:56You don't want to become his disciples too, do you?
23:03The heaps insults on him saying, you are his disciple.
23:08We are disciples of Moses.
23:10We know that God has spoken to Moses, but we do not know where this man comes from.
23:18The man replied, this is truly a remarkable thing that you don't know where he comes from.
23:24And yet he caused me to see.
23:27We know that God doesn't listen to sinners, but if anyone is devout and does his will, God listens to
23:34him.
23:35Never before has anyone heard someone causing a born blind man to see.
23:43If this man were not from God, he would be unable to do anything.
23:49They replied, you were born completely in sinfulness and yet you presume to teach us.
23:56And they threw him out.
24:00When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, he sought out the man and said to him, do you
24:06believe in the son of man?
24:08The man replied, who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?
24:13Jesus told him, you have seen him.
24:16He is the one who is speaking with you.
24:19He said, Lord, I believe, and he worshipped him.
24:25Jesus said, for judgment, I have come into this world so that those who do not see may gain their
24:32sight.
24:33And the ones who can see will become blind.
24:38This is the word of the Lord.
24:40Thanks be to God.
24:47Collect for peace.
24:50O God, who is the author of peace and lover of concord,
24:54in knowledge of whom stands our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom,
25:01defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies,
25:05that we, surely trusting in your defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries.
25:13Through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
25:17Amen.
25:21Collect for our safe preservation.
25:25O Lord, our Heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God,
25:29who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day,
25:33defend us in the same with your mighty power,
25:36and grant that this day we fall into no sin,
25:40neither run into any kind of danger,
25:43but that all our doings may be ordered by your governance,
25:49to do always that which is righteous in your sight.
25:54Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
25:57Amen.
26:01Lord, let me accept calmly all that this day might bring me,
26:06and let me devote myself completely to your sacred will.
26:12Direct me and help me each hour of this day.
26:16Control my thoughts and feelings in all my deeds and words.
26:21When unpredictable circumstances arise,
26:24do not let me forget that everything comes from you.
26:29Lord Jesus, Son of God,
26:32it is better not to live than to live without you.
26:36I thank you, God, for the gift of this new day,
26:39and for all the good deeds you will help me do today.
26:45Holy Spirit, help me to dedicate this day to my Lord and Saviour.
26:51Teach me to be just toward my brother and sister,
26:56never to provoke wrath or cause sorrow.
27:00Control my will and teach me to pray,
27:04to believe, to hope, to suffer,
27:07to forgive and to love.
27:10Amen.
27:15We pray for the work of your faithful servants throughout the world, Lord.
27:21Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
27:27May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
27:30the love of God,
27:32and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
27:34be with us all today and for ever more.
27:39Amen.
