00:00111. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
00:05112. Tasim Mim
00:12113. These are the verses of the clear Book
00:17114. We recite to you the story of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe
00:27115. Indeed, Pharaoh was arrogant in the land and divided its people into factions, oppressing one group among them, slaughtering their sons and sparing their women. Indeed, he was one of the corrupters.
00:51116. And We desired to show favor to those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors
01:06117. And We established them in the land and showed Pharaoh, Haman, and their soldiers from them what they had feared.
01:18118. And We inspired the mother of Moses, saying, “Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve.”
01:38119. Indeed, We will return him to you and make him one of the messengers.
01:47110. So the family of Pharaoh picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a source of grief. Indeed, Pharaoh, Haman, and their soldiers were wrongdoers.
02:05111. And Pharaoh's wife said, "He will be a comfort to my eyes and yours. Do not kill him; perhaps he will benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they did not perceive.
02:25112. And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [his identity] had We not strengthened her heart so that she would be among the believers.
02:43113. And she said to his sister, “Follow him.” So she watched him from a distance while they did not perceive.
02:54114. And We had forbidden him [to take] wet nurses before, so she said, "Are you to be humiliated before a household that will take care of him for you while they are to him sincere advisors?"
03:21115. So We restored him to his mother so that her eyes might be comforted and she would not grieve, and so that she would know that the promise of God is true; but most of them do not know.
03:43116. And when he reached maturity and attained full strength, We bestowed upon him wisdom and knowledge. Thus do We reward the doers of good.
03:58117. He entered the city while its inhabitants were unaware, and found two men fighting there, one from his own people and the other from his enemies.
04:14118. Then the one who was of his own party called to him for help against the one who was of his enemy, so Moses struck him and killed him.
04:27119. He said, “This is the work of Satan. He is a clear, misleading enemy.”
04:38110. He said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.” So He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
04:50111. He said, “My Lord, because of the favor You have bestowed upon me, I will never be an ally to the criminals.”
05:01112. So he became fearful and apprehensive in the city, when suddenly the one who had sought his help the day before cried out to him for help.
05:14113. Moses said to him, “You are clearly a troublemaker.”
05:22114. When he wanted to strike the one who was their enemy, he said, “O Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed someone yesterday?”
05:42115. You only want to be a tyrant in the land, and you do not want to be among the reformers.
05:57116. And a man came running from the farthest part of the city. He said, “O Moses, indeed the chiefs are plotting against you.”
06:11117. They will kill you, so leave. I am one of your sincere advisors.
06:26118. So he went out of it, fearful and watchful. He said, “My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.”
06:37119. And when he turned toward Midian, he said, “Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the right way.”
06:52110. When he arrived at the water of Midian, he found a crowd of people watering their flocks, and apart from them, he found two women holding back their flocks.
07:10111. He said, "What is your danger?" He said, "We will not water until the shepherds have finished."
07:20112. And our father is an old man.
07:25113. So he watered their flocks for them, then withdrew to the shade and said, “My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You may send down to me.”
07:41113. Then one of the two women came to him, walking modestly, and said, “My father invites you.”
07:56114. She said, “My father invites you to reward you for watering our flocks.”
08:04115. When he came to him and told him the story, he said, “Do not fear; you have escaped from the wrongdoing people.”
08:17116. One of them said, “O my father, hire someone. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and trustworthy one.”
08:30117. He said, “I want to marry you to these two daughters of mine, on condition that you serve me for eight years.”
08:45117. If you complete ten, it is from you.
08:52118. I do not wish to make things difficult for you; you will find me, God willing, among the righteous.
09:06118. He said, “This is between you and me; whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there will be no injustice against you. And God is a witness to what we say.”
09:21119. When Moses had fulfilled the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived a fire from the direction of Mount Sinai.
09:33110. He said to his family, “Stay here. I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you some information from it, or a burning ember so that you may warm yourselves.”
09:54111. When he came to it, he was called from the right bank of the valley in the blessed spot from the tree, “O Moses!”
10:10111. O Moses, indeed I am God, Lord of the worlds.
10:20112. And throw down your staff. But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, and he did not follow.
10:37113. O Moses, come forward and do not fear. Indeed, you are among the secure.
10:47114. Put your hand into your pocket, and it will come out white and without blemish; draw your hand to your side to avoid fear.
11:01115. These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs. Indeed, they were a disobedient people.
11:14116. He said, “My Lord, I have killed one of them, and I fear that they will kill me.”
11:24117. My brother Aaron is more eloquent than I; send him with me so that he may confirm my words. I am afraid they will deny me.
11:41118. He said, “We will strengthen your honor with your brother and grant you both authority, so they will not reach you. By Our signs, you and those who follow you will be the victors.”
12:01119. So when Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said, “This is nothing but fabricated magic.”
12:17110. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.
12:33111. And Moses said, “My Lord knows best who brings guidance from Him and to whom will be the best outcome in this life. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.”
12:54112. And Pharaoh said, “O eminent ones, I know of no god for you other than me. So kindle for me, O Haman, a fire upon the clay and make for me…”
13:10Statement
13:11113. So build me a tower, that I may look down upon the God of Moses, though I think he is among the liars.
13:26114. He and his soldiers acted arrogantly in the land without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.
13:39115. So We seized him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. Then see how was the end of the wrongdoers.
13:53116. And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
14:05117. And We will cause a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the despised.
14:17117. And We gave Moses the Scripture after We had destroyed the earlier generations, as clear proofs for mankind.
14:32118. Insights for people, guidance, and mercy, so that they may remember
14:42119. And you were not on the western side when We decreed the matter to Moses, nor were you among the witnesses.
14:55110. But We raised up generations, and their lives grew long. And you were not residing among the people of a city, reciting Our verses to them, but We were messengers.
15:20111. And you were not on the side of the mountain when We called out, but it was a mercy from your Lord that you should warn a people to whom no warner had come before you, so that they might
15:47They remember
15:48112. And if a calamity should befall them because of what their hands have put forth, they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could follow Your verses and be among the believers?"
16:18113. But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, “Why was he not given something like what was given to Moses?”
16:33114. Did they not disbelieve in what Moses was given before?
16:41115. They said, "Two magicians have conspired," and they said, "Indeed, we are disbelievers in both."
16:51116. Say, "Then bring a book from God which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you are truthful."
17:05117. If they do not respond to you, then know that they are only following their own desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desires without guidance from God? Indeed, God
17:27He does not guide the wrongdoing people.
17:31118. And We have conveyed the message to them so that they may remember.
17:39119. Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they believe in it.
17:48110. And when it is recited to them, they say, “We believe in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed, we were Muslims before this.”
18:07111. Those will be given their reward twice over because of their patience, and they repel evil with good, and they spend out of what We have provided for them.
18:24112. And when they hear idle talk, they turn away from it and say, “For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace be upon you. We do not seek the company of the ignorant.”
18:41113. Indeed, you cannot guide whom you love, but God guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of those who are guided.
18:57114. And they said, “If we follow the guidance with you, we will be snatched away from our land.”
19:07115. Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.
19:26116. And how many a town We destroyed that was ungrateful for its livelihood! Those are their dwellings, not inhabited after them except briefly. And We were the inheritors.
19:48117. And your Lord would not destroy the towns until He had sent to their mother town a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the towns except with their inhabitants.
20:10Oppressors
20:12118. And whatever you have been given is but a fleeting enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. But what is with God is better and more lasting. So will you not reason?
20:33119. Is he to whom We have promised a good promise which he will obtain like him to whom We have provided enjoyment of worldly life and then he will be, on the Day of Resurrection, among those who are left in darkness?
20:52110. And on the Day He will call to them, saying, “Where are My partners whom you claimed to be?”
21:04111. Those against whom the word has been justified will say, “Our Lord, these are the ones we led astray. We led them astray just as we were led astray. We disavow ourselves before You. They did not worship us.”
21:30112. And it was said, “Call upon your partners,” so they called upon them, but they did not respond to them, and they saw the punishment. If only they had been guided!
21:46113. And on the Day He will call to them and say, “What was your response to the messengers?”
21:55114. So the news was obscured from them that day, and they did not ask questions.
22:06115. But as for him who repents, believes and does righteous deeds, perhaps he will be among the successful.
22:19116. And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; He has no choice. Exalted is God above what they associate with Him.
22:36117. And your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they reveal.
22:44118. He is God; there is no god but He. To Him belongs all praise in the first and the last, and to Him belongs the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
22:59118. Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make the night perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you...?"
23:14119. You dwell in the night, do you not see?
23:43110. And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day so that you may rest therein and seek His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.
23:59111. And on the Day He will call to them, saying, “Where are My partners whom you claimed to be?”
24:10112. And We extracted from every nation a witness and said, "Produce your proof." So they knew that the truth belonged to God, and what they used to invent vanished from them.
24:35113. Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he transgressed against them. And We gave him treasures whose keys would burden a group of strong men.
24:57His people told him not to rejoice
25:00114. God does not love those who rejoice.
25:06115. And seek, through that which God has given you, the home of the Hereafter.
25:14116. And do not forget your share of this world.
25:19117. And do good as God has done good to you.
25:26118. And do not seek to spread corruption in the land.
25:30119. God does not love those who spread corruption.
25:35119. He said, “I was only given it because of knowledge I possess.”
25:44110. Did he not know that God had destroyed before him generations who were greater in strength and more numerous in followers?
25:59111. And the criminals will not be questioned about their sins.
26:05112. So he went out to his people in his finery
26:10113. Those who desire the life of this world say, "Oh, would that we had what Qarun has been given! Indeed, he is truly fortunate."
26:26113. And those who were given knowledge said, “Woe to you! The rebels of God are better for those who believe and do righteous deeds, and none will be granted it except the patient ones.”
26:44114. So We caused the earth to swallow him and his house.
26:48115. He had no group to help him besides God, nor was he among those who could defend themselves.
27:02116. And those who yesterday wished for his position are now saying
27:11117. It is as if God expands provision for whomever He wills of His servants and restricts it
27:21118. Were it not for God's mercy upon us, He would have caused the earth to swallow us up.
27:30119. It is as if the disbelievers are not armed.
27:37110. That is the home of the Hereafter, which We assign to those who do not desire exaltation upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous.
27:54111. Whoever comes with a good deed will have something better than it.
28:02112. And whoever comes with an evil deed, those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except according to what they used to do.
28:15113. He who has imposed the Qur’an upon you will surely bring you back to a place of return.
28:26114. Say, "My Lord knows best who has come with guidance and who is in clear error."
28:38115. You did not expect that the Scripture would be revealed to you, except as a mercy from your Lord.
28:51116. So do not be an ally to the disbelievers
28:58117. And let them not turn you away from the verses of God after they have been revealed to you.
29:08118. And call to your Lord and do not be among the polytheists.
29:16119. Do not invoke any other deity along with God.
29:21119. There is no god but He
29:26110. Everything will perish except His Face.
29:31111. His is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
29:35119. Translated by Nancy Qanqar
