00:00Hello everyone, it's good to be here with you all. It's good to be with people that love to hear
00:04the
00:05Word of God and grow together. Let us look into this Word and grow thereby. Today I want to talk
00:10about the most terrifying words Jesus ever spoke. And there are some terrifying words Jesus spoke,
00:17but I think that this is a very terrifying word that he spoke in the text that we're going to
00:22read today. Jesus is shocking us and giving us some very scary revelation. He's saying that not
00:29everyone that looks religious, oh goodness, not everyone that sounds spiritual or acts powerful
00:35actually belongs to the kingdom of God. Oh, this is scary. What if the people that are most confident
00:44about heaven are shocked at the day of judgment when they don't get in? That's scary stuff, scary
00:53stuff for men like myself because I want to get in. What if the greatest danger in the church
00:59is not false doctrine, but it is false assurance? You're falsely assured that you're going to make
01:06it into the kingdom. You think that you're going to heaven and that things are right between you and
01:10God, but things are not. Oh, there's a danger in empty confession. Let us look at the text here.
01:18Not everyone that said unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the
01:24will of my father, which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
01:29not
01:29prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name the many wondrous works.
01:36And then I will profess unto them. I never knew you depart from me ye workers of iniquity. This is
01:43a
01:43very scary portion of scripture. I want to talk about the dangers of empty confession. These are people
01:49that came to the Lord at the day of judgment and said, Lord, Lord, they had a confession and a
01:55defense. Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out devils in your name and done many
02:00marvelous works. They had a confession and a reason and a defense why they should enter into the kingdom.
02:06They said all the right things about God, but God has let us know here that they did not yield
02:12to
02:12God's authority. There are many people that say, Oh, blessed be the Lord. How? Oh, God is so good. God
02:18is so
02:18wonderful. They say all the right speech. They fool people. They fool church members. You might think
02:24that they're saved, but they have not obeyed and are yielded to the authority of God. Uh, there are
02:31ministers. The Bible said you shall know them by their fruits. There are ministers that are also
02:35convincing, but when you listen to their speech, they're false, they're false prophets, they're false
02:40pastors. Oh, cause something ain't quite lining up with the word of God. You shall know them by their
02:46fruits. Help us, God, not have empty confessions. They were led astray because they had an empty
02:52confession. They believed in their confession. Lord, Lord, we've done all of these things for you.
02:57There's a deception that comes in religious success. These men said, we prophesied in your name.
03:03We cast out devils in your name and we've done many marvelous works. These were ministers in the church,
03:09false ministers. And if there's more false ministers, there can be false lay people.
03:13These were ministers. They were prophesying. They were speaking religiously for God. God was using
03:18them. God doesn't deny that they were doing this. God was using them. God uses unsaved people.
03:26You got to know that they were casting out devils, meaning they were coming up against
03:30spiritual authorities and God allowed them to do that. And the Bible says we've done many marvelous
03:36works. They look marvelous to men, look wonderful unto men, look spiritual and religious,
03:41but they did not have salvation. All works do not bring salvation. These people were not saved for
03:49the Bible to say, for God says, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. These people trusted in what
03:55they did, not in God and salvation and grace through faith. They didn't trust in God's work. They trusted
04:01in what they were doing. They were hidden behind their prophesying. They were hidden behind their
04:06casting out of devils. They were hidden behind their wonderful works that they did, did, but they
04:11weren't, but, but, but salvation has nothing to do with what we do. It has nothing to do with works.
04:15That's any man should boast. It is a gift given to us by God that we could not earn. These
04:20men were
04:20trusting in something that they thought they had earned and got shocked on the day of judgment.
04:25Oh Lord, help us not to fall for the deception of religious works. I'm not, uh, saved by any religious
04:33work that I do. It is by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. And that, and that alone is my
04:39hope.
04:39It's our hope as believers. The last thing I want to talk about is the tragedy of being unknown. These
04:45men were unknown. God said, I never knew you depart from me. You workers of iniquity.
04:55Uh, that's the reason because although you had a confession of me, it never deepened into relationship
05:01because the relationship would lead you into obedience. It never got farther than words.
05:06They had words for God, proper words. Help us today. We live today in a day of mercy where God's
05:13inviting us. He's warning us. He's even waiting for us with grace and mercy. But this same God that was
05:21waiting, inviting and warning now speaks words of departure. He said, depart from me. The day of
05:28grace is over. This is irreversible. This is scary. There is no more second chances. Oh God.
05:34The voice that said, come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest.
05:39The invitation, inviting all men is now saying, depart from me. And there is no do overs. Oh,
05:48I can't think of nothing. The door is more scary than, I can't think of nothing more scary than this.
05:52The door is shut. The door is closed forever. They have no more opportunities. It's final.
05:58I pray today that we are not fooled by false assurance. I pray that all of us as believers
06:05will examine our faith. Lord, I don't want to hear these terrifying words, these most terrifying words
06:12of depart from me, you worker of iniquity. I want to be the real thing because I want to make
06:18it into
06:18the kingdom in a real way. Help us all, God. In Jesus name we pray and say, amen.
06:30No matter where you are today, don't get discouraged. Let's let us keep going in faith and may we
06:38continue to grow together. Great is our God. God bless.
06:59God bless.
