00:00Hello there, welcome to your Friday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Turning very warm across central and eastern areas today with some strong sunshine.
00:09We still have weather fronts in the mix towards the west as well as the north,
00:13with low pressure sitting towards the Atlantic.
00:15High pressure though building from the near continent.
00:18And eventually this high will extend across the country as we head through the bank holiday weekend and into next
00:24week.
00:24So temperatures day on day will rise.
00:27It's going to feel very warm, if not hot, across more southern areas.
00:30However, first thing this morning you may run into some showery bursts across Scotland.
00:35Some clearer weather, southern and eastern areas with some sunshine coming through.
00:39Maybe a bit drizzly over the hills of Northern Ireland.
00:42Even so, you'll see some breaks arriving from the south as we head through the morning.
00:47And notice it's a bit murky across Irish sea coasts.
00:49Maybe damp in places, Isle of Man, southwestern parts of Scotland with some patchy rain and drizzle.
00:55But inland, it's a fine start to the day.
00:58A relatively mild one with some sunshine and a wind coming in from a mild direction.
01:03So for most, it's a dry start.
01:05We do have this showery rain across Scotland, which will push northwards as we head through the morning.
01:11These are the weather fronts associated with it.
01:13Dampening all the while.
01:15Not a lot going on there, but certainly some wet weather as we head through the next few hours.
01:19But brighter skies continue across much of England and Wales in shelter across northeastern areas of Scotland.
01:26And we'll see some fine weather arrive around lunchtime for Northern Ireland with some warm sunshine coming through.
01:32Through the afternoon then, well, any mist and murk through the morning will tend to clear across Irish sea coast.
01:38So some brighter skies for a time, but notice towards the west.
01:41Again, the cloud will thicken here and we are likely to see some rain arrive across the west of Northern
01:47Ireland.
01:48Some drier skies elsewhere and temperatures responding very nicely to the sunshine.
01:53So the highest temperature will probably be home counties around 28 degrees Celsius, but 27 across the Midlands eastern counties.
02:01For Wales, in shelter across more eastern areas, probably 23 to 25 Celsius.
02:06In shelter across Northern Ireland, you'll see a 20.
02:08And we could see a 21, 22 across southern parts of Scotland, even a 20 across eastern Scotland.
02:16Fresher across the northwest there with that breeze, some strength to it.
02:20But across the Murray Firth with the wind coming in from the southwest, yes, you could see temperatures just peaking
02:26into the 20s.
02:27So all in all, it will feel warm in the sunshine, very warm across the middle and southeastwards.
02:32And even where you've seen more clouds through the day, yes, pleasant under some drier skies.
02:37But that rain will just gradually extend towards western parts of Scotland as we head through the night.
02:43This weather front here is pushing eastwards.
02:46So some rain, actually rain and drizzle across the Cumbrian Fells as well as Northumberland Hills.
02:50And you can see it is clearing.
02:52So through the latter part of the night and into the first part of the weekend, some drier skies arriving.
03:00And temperatures will be on the mild side.
03:02So 16 towards the southeast, 12 or 13 further north and west.
03:07So as we start the weekend, this is how it begins.
03:11First thing, a few showers across the northwest highlands.
03:15Elsewhere, it's a dry start to the day.
03:17That trailing front clearing towards France, it's a weak affair.
03:21We'll see some rain across the North Sea.
03:24Some sunshine coming through, through the first part of the day.
03:27And again, we could see some Mr Merck just shrouding the coastlines of Irish Seacoast down towards the west country,
03:33the north coast of Cornwall as well as Devon.
03:35Through the day, some hazy sunshine for Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
03:39Some showers extend towards Caith Ness.
03:41But most places seeing that fine weather, that strong sunshine, some high UV.
03:47And temperatures on the up.
03:49So highest temperature creeping 29, perhaps a 30 degrees Celsius.
03:53And generally speaking, further west and north you go, we'll see temperatures comfortably into 2021 Celsius.
03:59Fresher towards the northwest yet again with a fresh wind here.
04:03And those showers continue off and on across the far north of Scotland.
04:06But some pleasant weather to end the day and a light breeze.
04:11Yet again, a weather front bothering more northwestern areas through Sunday.
04:15It skirts the northwest of Scotland with a little rain.
04:18For most though, it's a fine day.
04:20A day of strong sunshine.
04:22Some high levels of grass pollen, particularly across England and Wales.
04:26And temperatures on the up across Scotland.
04:28We could see 22, 23 Celsius, 21 for Northern Ireland.
04:32And for Mid Wales, creeping into sort of 29, perhaps even 30 for the Midlands.
04:37And down towards the southeast, yes, you could see a 32 degrees Celsius.
04:41So feeling hot, particularly towards the southeast.
04:44Warm elsewhere.
04:45But if you see any onshore breezes develop through the afternoon.
04:50Freshening up a little bit because sea surface temperatures are still low as we head through the late spring.
04:55And they only slowly rise as we head through the summer.
04:58So that's the picture through Sunday.
05:01For most, it's a dry day.
05:02Again, lots of sunshine across more central and southern areas.
05:06Into bank holiday Monday.
05:07This weather front brings some rain towards the far northwest of Scotland.
05:11High pressure for most though.
05:12And temperatures yet again.
05:1427 to 33 across England and Wales.
05:16And 22, 23 comfortably across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland away from the northwest.
05:22So stay tuned to the forecast.
05:24We'll keep you posted on those temperatures.
05:26High temperatures so far we've had in May across the UK's 32.8 degrees Celsius.
05:32So we could break that this coming bank holiday weekend.
05:36Have a lovely weekend.
05:37Enjoy the sunshine.
05:38And I'll see you again soon.
