00:00Transitioning to another impending debut.
00:02In all likelihood, it's coming on Tuesday night for the Mets against Washington.
00:06Nick Morabito reportedly got the call.
00:09He will be headed to the major leagues.
00:11Nick Morabito, another speedy outfielder in the Mets system
00:15that was swinging it well in the upper minors at AAA Syracuse.
00:18Stop me if you had heard that before.
00:20What a weekend it was for A.J. Ewing,
00:23and what a first week in the big leagues it was for A.J. Ewing.
00:27A total spark plug for the New York Mets.
00:30He joins Carson Bench, who's really starting to swing it
00:32after a slow start to the year.
00:34That outfield of Soto, Bench, and Ewing just got faster,
00:38just got more athletic,
00:39and it seems like the fourth outfielder of the future
00:42and one of the better fourth outfielders in baseball, Morabito,
00:44just got the call.
00:45He can absolutely fly.
00:47I'll lay out the stats, and I want your two-minute synopsis on Morabito.
00:5141 games with Syracuse, 250 batting average, but a 364 OBP,
00:5614 for 16 in the stolen base department,
00:58and he already has four homers this year in 41 ballgames.
01:02Yeah, his at-bats have been a lot better,
01:05and not that they were bad before.
01:06It's just like you can see the polish.
01:08He's got the chase rate down by about 6%.
01:12The ability to recognize spin has been much better
01:14because Morabito is just kind of this freakish athlete in the box
01:17that would just be able to put bat on ball and get moving,
01:21and he took a big step forward last year in terms of elevating more
01:25and driving the ball to both gaps because it was a lot on the ground,
01:28and then you're seeing, I think, another step forward now
01:30in the plate discipline side of things.
01:32This is one of the fastest dudes I've seen on a baseball field, point blank.
01:35Like this might be close to 80-grade wheels.
01:38I'm excited to see if that checks out.
01:39Run grades are like the hardest thing to properly evaluate
01:42with like the stopwatch or like with your eyeballs.
01:45And you see run times always botched,
01:47but no matter what scouting report you look at
01:50or whatever outlet you look at, it's really difficult to do.
01:53Nobody was putting 70 wheels on Cam Smith.
01:54Look at his run times.
01:56But I do think this guy could legit have 80 wheels.
01:59And you think about the role that he's filling.
02:00Like no shade to Austin Slater,
02:03but if Austin Slater isn't hitting left-handed pitching,
02:05he's quite useless.
02:07Whereas Morabito, he's hitting lefties pretty well this year.
02:09But even if he's not hitting left-handed pitching,
02:12he can play all three outfield spots as a late-game replacement.
02:14He is a menace on the base pass to be able to, you know, create runs.
02:19And I think that's the biggest part for this Mets team
02:21that has an offense that really stalls out.
02:23The idea of adding two of the faster young players
02:26in Major League Baseball and Ewing and Morabito,
02:28I think can make a big difference in trying to create runs
02:31and play defense.
02:32Yeah, totally with you, man.
02:33That is a very athletic outfield right now.
02:36And they are operating without Luis Robert.
02:38And I saw Luis Robert Jr.
02:39doesn't even have an estimated timeline on him right now.
02:42Lindor is going to be a month
02:42and no timeline on Robert or Jorge Polanco.
02:45Tough going for the Mets, obviously,
02:47but Bichette, Homer, and Morabito is up.
