00:00Hey, we're going to pay you a ton and give you your opt-outs.
00:03And it turns out, Beau Bichette did sign with the New York Mets three years, $126 million.
00:10They lost Tucker.
00:11They spent that money on Bichette.
00:13I think it's a good signing for the Mets.
00:15There's not really a whole lot of downside.
00:17There's a lot of money per year.
00:18There are the opt-outs there.
00:20But if you lose Pete Alonso and then you miss out on Tucker, you have to make a move.
00:25And you have to make a big move.
00:26And some of this, obviously, is just to keep the fan base at bay.
00:30That's just what it comes down to me.
00:32Trading for Simeon is nice.
00:33Trading for Luis Robert is nice.
00:35But you have to make a splashing move just to keep the fan base at least somewhat happy to start
00:40the season.
00:40And Bichette's an awesome player.
00:42That's what it comes down to.
00:43He was great last year.
00:44So getting him to the Mets is only a boost for them when they needed it most.
00:48Guy hits for average and power, man.
00:50We wanted him in Philadelphia to sort of change some things up at status quo in Philadelphia.
00:54Why?
00:54Because the Mets were willing to spend.
00:56And also the Mets were willing to do what the Phillies weren't.
00:59Give him the opt-out clauses that he wanted.
01:00Again, it works in his favor.
01:01I stink.
01:02I stay and get paid.
01:03I'm really good.
01:04I opt out and get paid probably more by somebody else.
01:06The Mets are willing to do that.
01:07The Phillies weren't.
01:08The only question is, where are all these players going?
01:10Because how about this?
01:11Jorge Polanco also goes to the Mets.
01:14Two years, $40 million.
01:15Can everybody play second base here?
01:17How about that?
01:19Bichette, Simeon, Polanco.
01:23Really interesting.
01:24And Brett Beatty, which they still have.
01:26Interesting dynamic for them.
01:29The report is that Jorge Polanco is going to be playing first base, a position he has literally never played
01:36in his nine years of MLB service time.
01:38So, that's going to be interesting.
01:40So, he's playing first.
01:43Bo Bichette, apparently, is going to be playing third base for the Mets.
01:46How it all works out?
01:47Do they change things on a week-to-week, month-to-month basis?
01:50Probably.
01:51But I'm really interested in what their lineup brings from an offensive perspective.
01:54And I think it's going to be good this year.
01:56No, and again, Mets are obviously a rival to the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:00And the way we think of things, not always on the money line, Tom, for the game itself, but how
02:05can you look at that lineup and stack it together?
02:07It's a good-looking lineup for the Mets.
02:09They might not feel their position all that well, Tom, but they're going to hit their position here.
02:12Estimated one through eight here.
02:14Lindor, Soto, Bichette, Polanco, Simeon, Beatty, Alvarez, and then Luis Robert Jr. comes over here from the White Sox.
02:22Maybe a change of scenery-type deal.
02:25There's a lot of talent now in that Mets lineup that you can do some daily damage with.
02:29Absolutely.
02:30A bit of a reclamation project for Luis Robert, whose name has been on the trade block or within trade
02:36rumors for a number of deadlines at this point.
02:39So it's finally good to see him get moved.
02:41If he can stay healthy, again, line of protection will only benefit him for reaching that true ceiling when he
02:47came over as a prospect to the White Sox.
02:49We'll see you next time.
