00:00The New York Mets, who have played some pretty good baseball.
00:03Mets defeated the San Diego Padres today, so they picked up a win there.
00:08My guy Robert Stock had a really nice start again, ended up pitching four-plus innings,
00:13gave up just one run, and held the Padres' bats at bay.
00:17So Stock's done a good job for the Mets.
00:18Outside of one start, he's been really good, so I think I may have nailed that one.
00:22Mets end up taking that game there.
00:24And yeah, Paul Skeens did not pitch well, in case you missed it earlier today.
00:28You know, as I said, I just don't think there's going to be a fix for this, at least initially.
00:32But the good news for the Pirates is the bullpen really came through for them.
00:37And then Brandon Lau hit a walk-off home run for the Pirates,
00:41who were trying to hang around in this wildcard picture.
00:44Currently, on fan graphs, their odds are less than 5% to get into the playoffs.
00:49But at least a win for them today has them feeling a little bit better.
00:53And then the one game that Joe and I will be following while we're on the air today,
00:56and we actually have two games, but the first that's going on right now is in the fourth inning.
01:01Peyton Tolley, who is having this magical season for the Boston Red Sox, and it just continues.
01:06Boy, it feels like Arizona may have hit this big snag with no Cattell Marte,
01:10because they absolutely can't score.
01:13Lost yesterday, losing today 2-0 to the Red Sox in the fourth inning.
01:18And then we'll throw out the first pitch in Philadelphia,
01:20as the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Marlins.
01:23The Phillies going for the sweep, and the Marlins behind Sandy Alcantara,
01:27hoping to get one win in this series.
01:29So let's bring in Joe Ranieri here for the next couple of hours.
01:33And Joe, I know you're quite busy in your world right now.
01:36Congratulations on your new little venture here.
01:39I saw it popping on social media today,
01:42so you've got a brand-new show every day from 4 to 5 as well.
01:45So congrats on that.
01:47And welcome into Game Time Decisions.
01:49And, you know, you're going to be a lot busier here now.
01:53Your days are now, you know, a little bit more swamped
01:55than they were maybe, let's say, 48 hours ago.
01:59It is all good, Craig.
02:01But I certainly hope you didn't bury the lead.
02:04We'll get Joe's mic on here in just a minute.
02:05Yeah, well, that would be great if you can turn me on.
02:07There we go.
02:08Thanks very much, guys.
02:09I'll tell you this.
02:10I hope you didn't bury the lead,
02:11because I know I heard you taking credit for stock.
02:14And don't forget that it's 1-1, I think 1-1 since you've actually backed him.
02:20But I've got to give you credit, because you called it on the show.
02:23And the guys behind the season, the guy behind the network here,
02:28will never, ever give you credit.
02:30I will, because that's who I am.
02:33Your call on the Angels last night had to be amazing.
02:37He did.
02:38They gave credit before you came on.
02:40They did.
02:41Oh, that was outstanding.
02:44Well done that you called the Angels last night.
02:47Look, I only can call the guys that I see.
02:50Usually if I don't see it, I can't call it.
02:51But let's also not forget I was totally wrong.
02:53I thought the Reds would have a great offensive day,
02:55and they didn't score a run.
02:57You know, I would ask, you know, I guess this is,
03:00before we get to the games today, I would ask you,
03:02I guess it's an easy answer, because I was going to say,
03:05what's more embarrassing, the Cincinnati Reds offense at this point, Joe,
03:09but they got outdone last night in that game in Milwaukee
03:14that the Brewers won 22-0,
03:19with Julio Rodriguez at the end of the game
03:21throwing the ball into the stands, thinking that they were two outs.
03:25I had a suspicion last weekend, was it last weekend or the weekend before?
03:30I don't remember, when they invited all the legends back.
03:32I've talked about this every day here on the show.
03:35Joe, you know and I know,
03:37when you retire a player's number at halftime in an NFL game,
03:40or there's some sort of ceremony,
03:43not game one of the season, not game one, not game one.
03:47Game one, you know, the team lifts the banner, they lose.
03:49It's pretty much clockwork.
03:50I'm saying when a team gets energized,
03:53maybe you're watching Randy Johnson and Edgar Martinez
03:57and Ken Griffey Jr.
03:59and the best players in the 90s and the 2000s,
04:02maybe in the history of the game,
04:03and the team that won over 100 games,
04:05and you get swept in your own building?
04:08Joe, that had me really concerned,
04:10really concerned about Seattle.
04:13Now I'm even more concerned.
04:14I'm concerned for their manager.
04:16I'm concerned for their front office.
04:18Because when a mistake like that happens,
04:21and a player is just not paying attention at all,
04:24you can't fire the player, you know?
04:27If this was a job, the player would have gotten fired.
04:29The person would have gotten fired
04:30for really screwing up on the job.
04:32You can't do that, and you have to look to other things.
04:35I personally like Dan Wilson,
04:37and I think he's a really good guy.
04:38I think he did a great job with Seattle last year.
04:41But there's no question, Joe,
04:43that was the most embarrassing game and moment
04:45of the Major League Baseball season for one team.
04:47That was it.
04:48I think he's a really good guy.
