Ghosts of Shepherdstown (2016) Season 2 Episode 1
Transcript
00:10I released a curse from Shepardstown.
00:17After the paranormal team wrapped up their investigation last summer,
00:21things have certainly died down in Shepardstown, that's for sure.
00:25The problem is, I'm beginning to get all types of strange reports
00:29from the neighboring towns.
00:30Chief Rich from the fire department in Shepardstown.
00:32I was referred by Martinsburg Police.
00:33Something about paranormal activity?
00:35It just disappeared.
00:36Poltergeist activity in Harpersbury.
00:39You know, maybe it's bigger than what I thought.
00:41Well, maybe it's bigger than Shepardstown.
00:45Last year, we had a very significant spike in unusual emergency calls.
00:51I gotta tell you, I've never seen anything like it
00:54in my 36 years of police work.
00:58I assembled a team of top paranormal investigators
01:01to help us solve some of these bizarre cases.
01:07There's somebody here.
01:08Go, go, go, follow it.
01:09There's a negative presence here.
01:11A lot of folks already believe Shepardstown
01:14is the most haunted town in the country.
01:16But now, the dark presence is back.
01:24And it's spreading.
01:40Shepardstown Police, Chief King.
01:42Hey, Mike, it's Ben.
01:43Just got a call for a weird disturbance in Harpersbury at High Street.
01:47I guess they're describing me as a poltergeist activity.
01:50I was wondering if your paranormal team can go check it out.
02:01All right, so this is the Potomac River,
02:03and we're heading downstream right now.
02:05We're actually going away from Shepardstown,
02:08and we're heading into a small town called Harpers Ferry.
02:11Like I said, when you guys left town,
02:13Shepardstown's been very quiet,
02:15but I've kind of become the go-to guy for local hauntings now.
02:18The go-to guy?
02:20Every time something unexplainable happens
02:22in one of these neighboring towns,
02:24I seem to be getting a lot of calls from my police friends.
02:28Mike, do you see them behind us?
02:30Hey, Bill, did we lose you?
02:32Are you still behind us?
02:38Oh, right behind you boys.
02:40They're coming around the corner now.
02:41OK, yeah, I see them.
02:43No, in 89, Ambo doesn't exactly corner very well.
02:49It's kind of strange that Chief King
02:51is suddenly getting all of these calls along the Potomac River,
02:54which goes right back into what we were theorizing
02:56the last time we were in Shepardstown,
02:58that water is a powerful spiritual conductor.
03:01Well, Harpers Ferry was also surrounded by water.
03:04The Potomac River and the Shenandoah Rivers
03:06actually run right into each other there.
03:09So what you're saying just validates our theory
03:12that it's possible the Potomac River
03:14is what is channeling all this spiritual energy
03:17from Shepardstown itself?
03:19It's possible.
03:20I really think that Shepardstown
03:21is like the eye of the storm in all this.
03:23It's a scary thought.
03:26We're headed actually to the John Brown Wax Museum.
03:29The owner has called me three times last week.
03:32He described it kind of as poltergeist activity.
03:34Brilliant.
03:36Is that who we're meeting with right now?
03:38No.
03:38We're going to meet with Ann.
03:39She's the manager.
03:40She's the one who's experienced everything there.
03:47Is this Harpers Ferry?
03:48Yeah, this is Harpers Ferry.
03:50You can see by the historic buildings,
03:51this place predates the American Civil War.
04:01It's cold out now.
04:02Yeah, it is.
04:03It's like summertime.
04:03Wind doesn't help either.
04:06Look at all the rock.
04:08Yeah, the foundation of this whole town
04:09is built on limestone and river rocks.
04:11Hi, Chief.
04:12Hi, Ann.
04:12This is the paranormal group that I was telling you about.
04:15Hi.
04:15My name is Ann Kiel-Fern.
04:17I am the acting manager of the John Brown Wax Museum
04:21and no longer feel safe to work here.
04:24There are just too many unexplained activities that happen,
04:28and it's scary.
04:31I got to run down to the Harpers Ferry office real quick.
04:34All right.
05:00He died within the building until it was made into a wax museum.
05:04But something is obviously freaking you out right now for us to be here.
05:08Things have gone from, okay, I can deal with this.
05:12I know this is not harmful,
05:14to I cannot be in this building for one more minute.
05:16Do you want to back up a little bit
05:18and tell us about who John Brown is?
05:20The John Brown raid actually happened in October of 1859
05:25right here in Harpers Ferry.
05:30John Brown, he was a man who supported the freedom of the slaves.
05:37In 1859, John Brown and 21 of his followers
05:40raided the Harpers Ferry arsenal
05:42where the guns were made for the government.
05:45What they wanted to do is use the weapons to arm a slave rebellion.
05:49At the time, Virginia was a slave state,
05:51and Brown's men were massively outnumbered.
05:57Ten of Brown's men were slaughtered during the raid.
06:01Five dropped their guns and fled,
06:02and the rest, including John Brown,
06:05were later hanged for treason.
06:11It's almost like everybody was following him
06:13into just this ultimate execution.
06:15That's true.
06:16It's not unusual for spirits
06:18to remain in a location where they died.
06:21We've seen it time and time again,
06:22especially when the deaths are very violent.
06:24So it's possible that we're dealing with residual hauntings
06:27from the John Brown raid,
06:29kind of like trapped in some sort of limbo.
06:31We have a lot of sounds that come out of the walls.
06:34We have sounds that come out through here.
06:40Little footsteps will run up and down the stairs.
06:46I do want to mention, when you look at these,
06:48you have realistic figures in here
06:51that depict what things happen to these people.
06:55All of them have human hair.
06:58They have real dentures, and they have glass eyes.
07:02Where's the hair and dentures come from?
07:04You know, I really don't want to know,
07:06to be honest with you.
07:08That just creeped me out a little bit.
07:12Would you all like to feel one of those statues
07:14before we go through?
07:15Bill, would you like to feel the dentures?
07:18I'd love to feel the dentures.
07:22You can see how real the hair looks right here.
07:25Yeah, wow.
07:27It's got split ends.
07:29It's a conditioner.
07:31Well, the hair actually came out of
07:32and grown out of a person.
07:34How do we know that these displays themselves
07:36aren't amping up activity,
07:37or are the reason for the activity?
07:39Because, I mean, I'd be pissed if someone took my hair
07:41and put it on a mannequin.
07:42So, recently, it's gotten a lot worse for you here?
07:45Yeah, I've worked here on and off since 2011.
07:49Okay.
07:50It just seems more dark and just closer in here.
07:53You feel like, you know,
07:55you can't get a deep breath in here.
07:56Like, you're almost overwhelmed.
07:58Right.
08:01How many floors is this?
08:03If you count the sub-basement,
08:06four.
08:07This building is somewhat like a maze.
08:13Bill, are you getting any spikes on the EMF detector?
08:16I'm picking up a lot of stuff,
08:17but I'm pretty sure it's all just current.
08:19For our initial walkthrough,
08:20I'm really gauging everything with an EMF detector,
08:23EMF being electromagnetic field detector.
08:25Basically, I'm trying to figure out
08:27where all the hot spots as far as electric goes.
08:30This is the figure I will not...
08:32This is supposed to be Annie Brown.
08:33It would have been John Brown's daughter.
08:35She was kind of a...
08:36Yeah, kind of a lookout.
08:38I'm going to move ahead of you, and...
08:41Why don't you, like, stand in here with...
08:44Her eyes move.
08:48Her eyes move?
08:50Mm-hmm.
08:50Naturally, or just paranormal?
08:53No, just for some people.
08:55So basically, they're not supposed to do that.
08:58No.
08:58That's what you're saying, okay.
09:03Sometimes when I go through
09:04to make my checks in the museum,
09:06the eyes seem to follow me.
09:11There's a feeling of not being alone here.
09:14You are not alone.
09:15Because right now, my knees are shaking
09:17and my hands are shaking.
09:18I don't...
09:19Even though I've got you guys with me,
09:21I still don't feel comfortable
09:22being in this building at all.
09:25Is it just the feeling of something negative
09:27that's trying to get in?
09:28Very negative.
09:29I think because this was owned
09:31for so long by families.
09:37Hold on.
09:39That was a loud knock on the glass right there.
09:41Yeah, something popped.
09:42Something just went...
09:44Or...
09:44It's almost like something
09:46was trying to get our attention.
09:48Well, you got our attention, boys.
09:49What do you need?
09:53Do you think...
09:54Do you think that could be
09:55from, like, um, cold and heat?
09:57Cracking?
09:58That's exactly what I was thinking.
10:00So as a skeptic for the team,
10:01I always look for natural explanations first.
10:04Yeah, it could be paranormal.
10:06It could also be environmental
10:07with the heat and the coldness
10:09going back and forth.
10:10Things of that nature
10:11that could cause the glass
10:12to just shift and cause that pop.
10:13There's something here
10:14that definitely doesn't like it
10:17when I'm here.
10:17You know how sometimes
10:18you know something's there,
10:19but you know that you're okay.
10:21Oh, absolutely.
10:21You know, it's a child
10:22and they're being mischievous
10:23or something.
10:24But this is different.
10:25No, this is different.
10:25This is something very dark.
10:27Wait.
10:30Wait.
10:31What happened?
10:34Is that...
10:36Does it look like he's breathing?
10:38Did you see that?
10:39What does it mean?
10:40Like...
10:40Did you see it?
10:41Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
10:50Does it look like he's breathing?
10:52Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
10:53I've seen it.
10:54He is.
10:55His shirt just went down.
10:56Did you catch that?
11:01Is that supposed to move like that?
11:04Yes.
11:05Okay.
11:06We're like, what?
11:08When you turn the lights on,
11:09he just looks like he's breathing.
11:11Yeah, he just breathes all day.
11:12You have to excuse me
11:14for my grave sense of humor.
11:15No, no, that's great.
11:18You got me.
11:24Jesus.
11:28Hold on.
11:29Are you all right, Elizabeth?
11:30What's the matter?
11:33No, my ears just pop really bad.
11:35One of my roles on the team
11:36is as the sensitive.
11:39So I can, a lot of times,
11:41tune into my environment
11:42and what's going on
11:43at a certain location.
11:45You all right?
11:46You're just getting
11:47really bad pressure?
11:48My heart's, like, racing really bad.
11:52And, um...
11:53It feels like I...
11:54Like I have one lung.
11:57You want to continue?
11:59Yeah, yeah.
11:59A little bit longer?
12:00Yeah, yeah, I would like to.
12:01So a lot of times
12:02when it's hard to breathe for me
12:04or there's nausea
12:05associated with it
12:06or disneyness
12:07or feeling like there's vertigo,
12:08it does mean to me
12:10that there's something paranormal
12:11happening at this location.
12:14Now, this would have been
12:15your gallows scene
12:16where she'd see
12:18John Brown ascending.
12:23Do people go in this room ever?
12:27Sometimes.
12:27I think she's asking,
12:28can we go in that room?
12:29Yeah, I know.
12:30Yeah, that's kind of
12:30what I was getting.
12:31To get to that,
12:33this would be
12:34to the sub-basement.
12:35Okay.
12:37Okay, um...
12:38Now, what's in the sub-basement?
12:41That and a whole lot
12:42of bad stuff.
12:43Oh, is this, like, bad stuff?
12:45Yeah, I will not go down.
12:47I get extremely dizzy.
12:49I get heart palpitations.
12:50I absolutely will not
12:51go in the basement with you.
12:53But I do want to show you
12:54what happened last night.
12:56Wait, there's more
12:57to talk about?
12:58There's more to talk about.
12:59What made me have to call for help?
13:02Okay.
13:03Do you want to close this?
13:04I know, it's made you feel uncomfortable.
13:06You know, I don't know
13:06if I'm keeping us out
13:08or keeping it in.
13:14Okay, guys,
13:15I want to show you
13:16what has made me
13:18be afraid to come back
13:20in here anymore.
13:21I was at the desk working,
13:22trying to get some paperwork ready,
13:24and I heard knocking.
13:28And it got louder
13:29and louder and louder.
13:32And then I heard
13:33the most horrific sound.
13:37If you think of somebody
13:38with long, filthy,
13:40dirty fingernails,
13:42just scraping,
13:45I don't ever want
13:47to hear it again.
13:47If you feel this,
13:49this is on brick.
13:50It's right on the brick.
13:51The next thing I knew,
13:53the wallpaper
13:53started pulsating
13:55as if something
13:56were breathing
13:57underneath of it.
14:03And all of a sudden,
14:04from the next floor up,
14:06it sounded like somebody
14:07dropped like a steamer trunk.
14:10I lost it.
14:11I ran out.
14:12It's absolutely terrified.
14:13The walls were
14:14essentially breathing.
14:16They were breathing.
14:17And this happened
14:18just last night?
14:19Yeah.
14:20Oh, my God.
14:21I will never work here again,
14:23at least not alone.
14:24I feel like I'm being threatened.
14:26I feel like I'm being targeted.
14:28Guys, I would really like
14:29to go see Dana.
14:30You know what?
14:31I think if you're going out,
14:32I'm right behind you.
14:34I really want to dig up
14:35some more history
14:36on the building itself,
14:37so I'm going to meet up
14:38with our team historian, Dana.
14:40She was truly an asset
14:41last time we were here,
14:43and really backing up
14:44our findings
14:44with historical evidence.
14:46We'll stay behind.
14:47We're going to do
14:47some baseline readings
14:48of the place
14:49before we actually
14:50get into our investigation.
14:52A baseline sweep
14:53helps us establish
14:54reference points
14:55with our equipment,
14:56which we can compare later
14:57during our night investigation
14:59with any readings we get.
15:00All right, right now,
15:01we're going to the sub-basement,
15:02and you said right here
15:04is where it's been
15:04really severe for her.
15:06These steps,
15:06this is definitely
15:07where I'm about to die.
15:08Here we go.
15:11You good, Bill?
15:12Yeah, well,
15:12you had to squeeze
15:13the fat in sideways,
15:14you know?
15:15Oh, my God,
15:16you should see
15:16how steep these steps are.
15:24Seriously,
15:25this place is creepy
15:26as hell.
15:30This whole foundation,
15:31here's a bunch
15:32of river rock
15:33that's stacked in.
15:34Could be kicking up
15:35some of the activity,
15:36holding that energy in.
15:38All right, Bill,
15:39I'm going in.
15:51It's a lot colder
15:52down here.
15:55I feel like
15:55I have to walk
15:56in John Brown's footsteps.
16:02All right,
16:03I'm moving up.
16:04Smile for me, Johnny.
16:10I'm getting REM hit
16:11down here, Nick.
16:12Are you?
16:13Yeah, just about
16:14directly under you.
16:16Basically, spikes
16:17on the REM meter
16:17is just saying
16:18something that's
16:19getting close enough
16:19to the antenna
16:20to set it off.
16:21Just like my finger
16:22getting close to it
16:22will do that.
16:23If my hand's down here
16:25and it starts going off,
16:26that means there's
16:26something in front
16:26of this antenna.
16:27Is your walkie off?
16:29You got to be careful,
16:30too, because walkie-talkies
16:31will set it off.
16:32Other side, though.
16:34But obviously,
16:34you're not hitting it, right?
16:35Mm-hmm.
16:37With what hand, Nick?
16:39I don't know.
16:39Hold on, hold on.
16:40Look at this.
16:45What the hell?
16:49What the hell was that?
16:52What?
16:52I don't know.
16:53Some thing
16:54just brushed
16:55against my hair.
16:56I don't know
16:57about up there,
16:57but down here
16:58there are webs.
16:59When I look up
17:00or try to, like,
17:01grab it,
17:01like if it's a cobweb
17:02or whatever,
17:03I don't see anything
17:03or feel anything.
17:05Hey, Nick,
17:06you know what?
17:06You might be feeling
17:07the surface temperature
17:09because your hair gel
17:10is starting to fail you.
17:11Oh, is that what it is?
17:12That's probably what it is.
17:13That means it's getting late.
17:14We got to set up cameras
17:16to see if we can bring in
17:17maybe the thermal camera.
17:18Oh, absolutely.
17:19There's something
17:19moving around down here.
17:21You know what I'm thinking
17:22about?
17:22If something did penetrate
17:23that immaculate head
17:25of hair of yours,
17:26run a camera,
17:27set it at the back
17:28of the galleries
17:28and shoot this entire room.
17:30Yep.
17:30So I think we're good here, Bill.
17:32We know what to focus on.
17:33Yeah.
17:34You want to move
17:34through the rest of the building?
17:35I do.
17:40The problem, too, Bill,
17:42is we don't know
17:43what type of...
17:44Whoa, whoa.
17:46What is that?
17:48What's that noise?
17:50We're the only ones
17:50in here, right?
17:51Right.
17:52There's a loud door
17:53slamming shut.
17:54Let's get down there.
18:02Whoa.
18:02You all right?
18:10There's a loud door
18:12slamming shut.
18:12Let's get down there.
18:15Oh, yeah.
18:16Fat guys don't do that, Nick.
18:18I'll cover the long length.
18:20Whoa.
18:21You all right?
18:21Yes.
18:26Hello?
18:31What do you got, Nick?
18:34I think this door
18:35was opening and closing.
18:37Really?
18:37I rushed down here
18:38and I turned the corner
18:38and this door,
18:39but it's locked.
18:42Are you sure there was...
18:42Bill, I rushed down here
18:43and this was going boom,
18:45boom, boom,
18:46right here.
18:47How would you even
18:48open that door, though?
18:49It's locked.
18:51You can't even get in there.
18:52What is that?
18:53It's like a storage unit.
18:54There's no...
18:55There's no entrance
18:55to this display, maybe?
18:56What we heard definitely
18:58wasn't any kind
18:58of mechanical sounds.
19:00It wasn't a heater.
19:01It wasn't the hot water heater.
19:02It wasn't an ice machine
19:03or anything else.
19:04There was definitely nothing
19:05earthbound or natural
19:06about those bangs
19:07that we heard.
19:08Wait, wait, wait.
19:09What floor are we on?
19:10What floor are we on?
19:11On the first floor now.
19:12What?
19:12This is the first floor?
19:13It's a breathing wall.
19:14Holy shit.
19:14I didn't even think about this.
19:16Look.
19:16I was so confused
19:17when we were running
19:18where we were.
19:19This is the wall.
19:20She freaked out.
19:21It looked like a heartbeat.
19:22Going...
19:25This is the same spot.
19:26Is this what we were hearing?
19:28Literally just have goosebumps
19:30in my body right now.
19:32I think we need to call Ann.
19:34Yes, give her a call.
19:35We got to find out
19:36what's behind this door.
19:39Hello?
19:40Hey, Ann.
19:40It's Nick Ruff.
19:41We're at the Wax Museum.
19:42We're in the spot
19:43where you said
19:44you got really freaked out
19:45with the wall pulsating
19:47in and out.
19:48and I...
19:49Right.
19:50...was just chasing,
19:51slamming.
19:52Right.
19:52And it was like,
19:53boom, boom, boom.
19:55Okay.
19:55We recently had a volunteer
19:57named Melissa
19:58that had a similar experience
20:01at that same staircase.
20:02Well, do you have any way
20:04of getting in contact with her
20:06so we can try to bring her back here
20:07and interview her?
20:08Yeah, she actually lives
20:10in the area.
20:10No problem.
20:12Good.
20:12Okay.
20:13Do you have the keys
20:14to get in here
20:15because it's locked
20:16on the outside?
20:17Yeah, I do.
20:18If you go to the front desk...
20:21Okay.
20:23You ready?
20:24Yep.
20:24Okay.
20:27Oh, it's dark in here.
20:29All right, let me see.
20:35I can't see anything in here.
20:37Do you have a light?
20:39Got you covered.
20:40Oh, thanks.
20:41Dude, this is creepy, man.
20:43Hello?
20:47What's behind this?
20:52What's you see down this?
20:59Says keep out.
21:02What is this?
21:06Hello?
21:09Oh, wait a second.
21:12It goes back this way.
21:14This leads us to the basement.
21:18Oh, my God.
21:19It's leading us back
21:19to John Brown being executed.
21:22For me, being the skeptic
21:23of the team,
21:24if you would have told me
21:25that we were going to find
21:26a secret set of stairs,
21:27I wouldn't have believed you.
21:29But I can tell you,
21:30being here,
21:31it was crazy
21:32and those steps are real.
21:33So I just hope
21:34we can figure out
21:34what is going on
21:35in this location.
21:37This is just baseline.
21:41All right.
21:42Let's go back up.
21:43Let's do it.
21:51Hello?
21:54Hello?
21:55Hi.
21:56Are you the Melissa,
21:58the volunteer
21:59that used to work here?
22:00Yeah, Ann called me earlier.
22:01She told me to come up,
22:02talk to you guys,
22:03see what was going on.
22:03Yeah, thanks for coming here.
22:05After the last couple
22:07shifts that I had
22:08a couple weeks ago,
22:09I haven't really been back here.
22:10So it's kind of weird
22:12to be back,
22:13to be honest.
22:14You stopped working
22:15because of this location?
22:16Something happened?
22:17Yeah.
22:21Usually we close in pairs
22:22and that day
22:23I thought I was closing
22:24with another volunteer
22:25named Jamie.
22:29So I'm walking up the stairs
22:30and I hear this
22:31really strange knock.
22:35The first time
22:36I kind of ignored it
22:37because I thought,
22:38you know,
22:38maybe she was just
22:39playing a joke on me
22:40or something
22:40and then it happened again.
22:44It had this really
22:46specific pattern with it.
22:47It goes like
22:48two normal knocks,
22:50a soft knock,
22:51and a thud.
22:55So I'm thinking
22:56that's just Jamie.
22:57So I also did
22:58the same knocking pattern.
23:03Before I could even
23:04turn around,
23:04it knocked back.
23:08And I looked to see
23:09if maybe Jamie
23:11was trying to figure out
23:11where I am.
23:12But I didn't see anyone.
23:15And that's when I started
23:16getting this feeling like
23:17OK, something is going
23:19on here.
23:21So I got my boss,
23:23Anne, on the phone
23:24and I said,
23:24hey, who's the other
23:25closer with me tonight?
23:26And Anne told me
23:27that there wasn't
23:28supposed to be
23:28another closer.
23:29Jamie actually left
23:30earlier that day.
23:31I just thought,
23:32oh my God,
23:33if that's not Jamie,
23:34then who am I knocking
23:35with?
23:37So it was four knocks
23:39or three?
23:40It was four.
23:41Four.
23:42Yeah.
23:42What's really interesting
23:43is Melissa heard
23:44these knocking sounds.
23:45It was almost like
23:46a distinct pattern.
23:47They were very innocent.
23:48It's totally different
23:49than what I just heard.
23:50Really aggressive.
23:51They were erupting
23:52through the whole building.
23:53What happened next?
23:55After that,
23:56I heard this giggling
23:57like a child was laughing.
24:01And then a breeze
24:02or something rushed by me.
24:04You know,
24:04like something was running
24:06by me.
24:07And what really got me
24:08was that I could feel it
24:09as if it was right by me.
24:11And I turned to look
24:12to see what that was.
24:19I saw this transparent figure
24:22cross into the other room.
24:25Do you know if it was
24:26a boy, girl, man, woman?
24:28Honestly, I couldn't
24:29really tell.
24:31I've interviewed
24:32hundreds of people
24:33and you would want them
24:34to describe it
24:35right to the T.
24:36Okay, I saw this.
24:37This is how the hair looked,
24:38the eyes, everything.
24:39But usually,
24:40it's just that split second.
24:41Logically,
24:42they're trying to explain it,
24:43but at the same time,
24:44it's unexplainable,
24:44so they can't figure it out.
24:46Anything that you could remember?
24:48If I had to guess,
24:50it was like this little girl
24:53that ran around the corner.
24:57So after that,
24:59got my stuff and I left,
25:00and I haven't been back
25:01to volunteer since then.
25:02I mean, maybe this ghost girl
25:04has something to do
25:05with the John Brown raid,
25:06but I think, honestly,
25:07we need to completely
25:09revamp our strategy
25:10and look at the families
25:11that once lived here
25:13after the raid.
25:14Something is definitely
25:15going on here.
25:22We found some really useful
25:23things today at the library.
25:25After Nick learned
25:26about this ghost girl
25:27that Melissa saw in the museum,
25:29Dana and I started
25:30researching families
25:31that lived in the building
25:32after John Brown's raid,
25:33and we actually came across
25:34some really critical information
25:36that could potentially
25:37change our theory
25:38as to who this spirit is.
25:40We researched into
25:42all the previous occupants
25:44of the building
25:45that's now the Wax Museum,
25:46and we did find one family
25:48that did suffer
25:49a great tragedy there.
25:54There was an Irish Catholic
25:55immigrant named
25:56Mirtha Walsh
25:57who moved to
25:58Harper's Ferry, Virginia
25:59around 1850.
26:03He and his wife
26:04opened up a dry goods store
26:06on the first floor
26:08of what is now
26:09the John Brown Wax Museum.
26:12Mirtha and his wife, Julia,
26:14raise a family of nine children
26:16in that building.
26:20As was custom in the time,
26:22their eldest daughter, Sarah,
26:23helped raise all the children
26:25while her parents
26:25were running the store.
26:29And I'm sure Sarah spent
26:31a lot of time caring for
26:33and playing with
26:34the other children.
26:35They might have felt closer
26:36to her as a mother
26:37than they did their own mother.
26:40In 1879,
26:42Sarah became very ill.
26:46It came on quickly.
26:49I'm sure that must have been
26:50very traumatic
26:51for the younger siblings
26:53because they all
26:54loved and relied on her.
26:58And she passed away
27:00quite suddenly
27:01when she was only
27:0219 years old.
27:04So a young girl
27:05did actually pass away
27:06in the house then?
27:07And here is
27:09Sarah's death record
27:11showing her age
27:12and
27:14how she died
27:15when she was 19
27:16from pneumonia.
27:19Through all the research
27:20you've done,
27:21do we know of any other people
27:22that have passed away
27:23in this house?
27:24No other children.
27:26This is crazy
27:27because most of it
27:28was her giggling
27:29like a younger
27:31female giggling voice
27:33not a 19-year-old giggling.
27:35She could be
27:35a very playful person.
27:37She had to play
27:38with her siblings
27:39to keep them occupied.
27:40So that's an excellent point though.
27:41Yeah, you're right.
27:41She would have had to.
27:43But even if
27:44the entity that's
27:45in this museum right now
27:46is Sarah,
27:47the claims seem to indicate
27:48that there is something
27:49else there,
27:50maybe something darker.
27:51So this negative energy
27:52could still be linked
27:54to the raiders
27:54that died there.
27:55Right.
27:56I definitely think
27:57we should do
27:58a night investigation.
27:59Now what we want to do
28:00is a night investigation
28:01with our IR cameras
28:02and other equipment
28:03to try to capture evidence
28:05to find out
28:05who or what
28:06is actually haunting
28:07this place.
28:08I'm also going to
28:09contact Lori
28:09and have her come through
28:11and see what she picks up on.
28:13Lori is a local
28:14psychic medium
28:14that we used previously
28:16when we were
28:16in Shepherdstown.
28:17She's able to connect
28:19with spirits
28:19in a lot of ways
28:20that we can't.
28:22Dana,
28:22would you like
28:23a sleepless night
28:24with the team?
28:25No, thank you.
28:26I'm happy
28:27on my library stacks.
28:35Hey, Elizabeth.
28:36Hey, just checking in
28:37to see what floor you're on
28:38so we can get
28:38that camera tied down.
28:39I am in the hallway
28:41where Ann saw
28:43the breathing wall.
28:44Is that good?
28:45Good to go?
28:46So basically,
28:48during tonight's investigation,
28:49I can have the ability
28:50to watch all four cameras
28:51at one time.
28:52Camera one is showing
28:53the alley behind the museum
28:54where the John Brown raid started.
28:56Camera two is showing
28:57the display hallway
28:58where the breathing wall is.
29:00Three is shooting the hallway
29:01where Melissa believes
29:02she encountered
29:02the ghost of a little girl.
29:05four is showing the staircase
29:06where we heard
29:07the three mysterious bangs.
29:09And, of course,
29:10now we have thermal imaging.
29:13Okay, we're good.
29:15So the thermal cam
29:16is located
29:16in the sub-basement display,
29:17which is where
29:18the display
29:19of John Brown's hanging is.
29:21When we were down here,
29:22we noticed
29:22we were getting
29:23little spikes
29:23on both the EMF detector
29:25and the REM pod.
29:27You'll notice
29:27when you look
29:28at the images
29:28that if there's
29:29a colder spot,
29:30it'll show up as blue.
29:31If it's a warmer
29:32or a hot spot,
29:33it'll show up
29:33as a yellow or a red.
29:35Anything colder
29:36goes through there
29:36or warmer,
29:37we'll know.
29:38I'll just get my camera
29:39all set up.
29:40What we're trying to do
29:41is figure out
29:41if we're dealing
29:42with Sarah Walsh
29:43or if it's some other
29:45entity at this location.
29:46Let's shut power.
29:53Elizabeth and I
29:54are about to head down
29:55to the sub-basement
29:56right now.
29:57Here we go.
29:59Night one investigation
30:00begins now.
30:04Be careful
30:04because it's
30:05really hard
30:06to get through here.
30:08Oh, my God.
30:18Hey, Mike.
30:19How you doing?
30:19Hey, are you
30:20at the Wax Museum?
30:21Yeah, we are.
30:22Okay.
30:23Hey, listen.
30:24I got some news
30:25for you.
30:25I got a call from Anne.
30:27She kept talking
30:28about the sub-stair area.
30:30I don't know
30:31what that means.
30:31I know exactly
30:32what it means
30:33and that's exactly
30:34where they are right now.
30:35Okay.
30:35Now here's the kicker.
30:41Hey, guys.
30:42Mobile command.
30:43You there?
30:44Yeah, we're here, Bill.
30:45What's going on?
30:46Hey, I just took a call
30:48from Chief King
30:48and apparently
30:49he just spoke with Anne.
30:50She's been involved
30:51in a pretty bad accident.
30:53She felt like
30:54she got pushed
30:54and she's convinced
30:56that whatever pushed her
30:57came from here.
30:59She apparently
30:59has broken her arm
31:00in three places
31:01and now it's going
31:02to require surgery.
31:12Anne's been involved
31:14in a pretty bad accident.
31:15She apparently
31:16has broken her arm
31:17in three places.
31:18She felt like
31:19she got pushed
31:20and she's convinced
31:21that whatever pushed her
31:22came from here.
31:25Even though Anne
31:26was at home
31:27when she broke her arm,
31:28she believes
31:29that something negative
31:30connected to this museum
31:32is what pushed her down
31:33and that makes me think
31:34that we're not just
31:35dealing with the spirit
31:36of a little girl.
31:37We're dealing with something
31:38that's more negative,
31:39something more sinister.
31:41Can Elizabeth go by
31:42and check on Anne?
31:43No, she's in the hospital
31:44right now
31:45and is going to have
31:45to have surgery.
31:53Did you hear that?
31:54There was a loud bang
31:56right on the freaking floor.
31:57Right, right here.
31:58Did you hear that?
31:59Yeah, I heard that
32:00loud as that.
32:01It was boom.
32:03So maybe it's just
32:04beginning right now.
32:07Anne is probably
32:07a lot safer
32:08at the hospital
32:09than she would be
32:10here right now.
32:11I feel like
32:12whatever this thing is,
32:14it's here with us
32:15right now.
32:15Hey, Laurie,
32:16how you been?
32:17Ah, long time.
32:18Good to see you.
32:18Long time.
32:19The only person
32:20that could probably
32:20get rid of it
32:21would be Laurie.
32:22Maybe you can pick up
32:23on something
32:24that we're not seeing
32:24with this camera.
32:26You want me to lead the way?
32:27Sure.
32:28Oh, yeah.
32:30Oh.
32:32Oh.
32:35Oh.
32:35There's a lot
32:36of energy here.
32:37Oh, you're picking up
32:37something?
32:38Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
32:42Yep.
32:44It's a girl.
32:46Wait, you said a girl?
32:47Yeah.
32:47I'm getting a female.
32:50Oh, wow.
32:54You OK?
32:55Yeah.
32:55Should I tell you
32:56the information
32:56that I know historically?
32:58No.
32:59I don't like knowing
33:00anything before I go
33:01into any, anywhere I go.
33:02Because that way
33:03I'm not feeding off
33:04of your information.
33:06I want to read
33:06what the earth tells me.
33:08The house, the home,
33:09the spirits, the souls.
33:13Oh.
33:19I'm hearing the crying,
33:21the coughing.
33:22I'm hearing she's making me
33:24nauseous to my stomach.
33:27Very hot.
33:28I'm very, very hot
33:29on my body.
33:34I feel that
33:35like a, she died
33:37of a disease.
33:38My lungs make me feel
33:39like I'm, I'm being
33:41suffocated.
33:43Oh, wow.
33:43I'm being stared at
33:44right now.
33:45Whoa.
33:51OK, that's the little,
33:52OK, in the corner here,
33:54if you would turn around,
33:55Scott, in the corner
33:57by the teapot,
33:58the little child
33:59would just hide
33:59and seek in right here.
34:01Right here,
34:01between the two pots.
34:03She was standing
34:04right there.
34:06It's two girls.
34:09The one is looking
34:11for the one
34:12that's coughing
34:12for some reason.
34:18But this little one
34:19that keeps running
34:20in and out
34:21and then going through here
34:22and then going there
34:22and then going up,
34:24if there's another up.
34:26She said, can you help
34:27me find her?
34:28Can you help me find her?
34:34So there's three girls
34:35that I see.
34:35There's one that's stuck
34:36almost outside,
34:37so this here
34:38would be her outside.
34:39Wait, three girls?
34:41Hey, guys,
34:42I'm going to move up there.
34:48All right,
34:48I have to let you know
34:49that there is
34:50two of the young girls
34:51here are looking
34:52for another girl.
34:53You're picking up
34:54on three girls?
34:55Do you feel like
34:56they are related?
34:57I think they might
34:58be sisters, maybe.
34:59When we met with Dana,
35:00we learned
35:01there were nine siblings
35:02and two of the girls
35:05were actually
35:05younger girls.
35:06So why would they
35:07be coming back now then?
35:09Because they lost
35:10their sister,
35:11they go back
35:11into the time
35:12that they were happy at
35:13and when they think
35:14they can find their sister.
35:15And that makes
35:16a lot of sense
35:16because Sarah died
35:18of pneumonia so quickly,
35:20it's possible that
35:21her little sister
35:22has never had a chance
35:23to say goodbye.
35:23Most definitely.
35:26Look at that.
35:28Are you kidding us?
35:31But if you watch it,
35:32you can tell that
35:33the colder is getting colder,
35:35you know,
35:35like there's a temperature
35:36drop of some sort happening.
35:37Look, there it goes again.
35:43Did you hear that
35:44loud sound?
35:48Scott, you heard that,
35:49right?
35:49That loud bang sound?
35:51It's a nice
35:52pitfall on the stairs.
35:56Whoa.
35:58What the hell?
35:59Bubble command the team.
36:02Yeah, Bill,
36:02what's going on?
36:03Nick, I'm trying to confirm.
36:04Is there anybody at all
36:06down in the sub-basement
36:07where the FLIR is?
36:08In the sub-basement?
36:09No one's down there right now.
36:10We're on the first floor.
36:12Something dark just crossed
36:13through the thermal cam.
36:13All right, we're going down
36:14to check it out.
36:15Let's go down.
36:21FLIR footage has to be played
36:23back at the camera itself.
36:24It does not run
36:25through the DVR system.
36:27Okay, stand by.
36:28Elizabeth's skinning
36:29through the computer right now.
36:30I'm just looking to see
36:31if anything fell down
36:32in front of the camera.
36:34Nothing could have fallen
36:35in front of
36:35because it actually rose up
36:37from the bottom right
36:38of the screen.
36:40Guys, I think
36:41I found something.
36:45I'm going to take off
36:45night vision.
36:47There, I got the screen.
36:49All right, I'm going to play
36:50it in normal time first.
36:54Right there?
36:55Yeah, wait.
36:56There.
36:57Oh, wow.
37:01Let me play it back
37:02a little slower.
37:03Okay.
37:04Here it comes.
37:07There.
37:07Hold on.
37:08Go back.
37:09Can you go back a frame?
37:10Just one frame?
37:13Right there.
37:14You can see the outline
37:16of the figure.
37:16Yeah.
37:17There's the shoulder
37:18right here.
37:19And then the head.
37:21But you can see that.
37:22Yeah.
37:24This doesn't run
37:25on like normal cameras.
37:26This is running
37:27on heat and cold signatures.
37:28And for it to show up black
37:30means it was ice cold.
37:31Hey, Bill.
37:32I honestly don't know
37:33what could have caused
37:34something just completely
37:35solid black go in front
37:37of this camera.
37:38It's because it's the negative.
37:41I can actually sense him here.
37:47He's behind me right now.
37:49And he's going to attack.
37:53The negative entity
37:55downstairs in the basement,
37:57I do feel that it was
37:58some kind of connection
37:59to those girls.
38:00I don't know what this
38:01connection is,
38:02but I know it's dark.
38:04So what do you think?
38:06What should we do next then?
38:07Nick, let's go upstairs
38:08where the lady
38:10heard the first knock.
38:12Let's put these girls together
38:13and send them to the light.
38:18When I was talking
38:18to Melissa,
38:19she said there was a pattern
38:20when she was in here
38:21that this entity
38:22would knock back at.
38:23I think we should use
38:25that exact knock
38:26to summon the spirits
38:27of these girls.
38:27And you definitely think
38:29that the knocking
38:29was associated
38:30with the little girls?
38:31Oh, most definitely.
38:32The lighter,
38:33but if you're hearing
38:34loud knocks,
38:35like we did
38:35when we were up here, Nick?
38:36Yep.
38:37It's the negative.
38:38Okay.
38:38Okay?
38:39He was trying to cover up
38:40what the little girls
38:41could not hear.
38:42So if I went like this,
38:44that would be
38:45the little girl.
38:46So maybe we try
38:47to replicate that again.
38:48Then you can try
38:49the knocking
38:50to communicate
38:51with these little girls.
38:52It was like this.
38:57Okay.
39:01You hear that?
39:02I did.
39:03Right there.
39:04There was a knock.
39:05Yep.
39:10Do it again, Nick.
39:11The knock.
39:23Right there.
39:24Why was that?
39:24That was a loud bang.
39:28Watch out for the...
39:29This is good.
39:30You were.
39:31We just heard a loudie.
39:33Slamming sound
39:34against the wall
39:35down here.
39:36It came way
39:37from down here.
39:38It echoed
39:38through the building.
39:39It was one loud hit.
39:40Oh, I hear cries again.
39:45I feel here.
39:46And I hear.
39:51Sarah, my name is Lori.
39:54And you have
39:55two sisters here
39:56that are looking for you.
40:02Sarah.
40:04It's time to rejoin
40:06yourself with your sisters.
40:08It's happening right there.
40:09You keep hearing that, right?
40:12I'm here.
40:14I just heard.
40:15I'm here.
40:16There.
40:16You hear it again?
40:18I've got somebody
40:18walking behind me.
40:21He's pissed.
40:22He's pissed.
40:24He's pissed.
40:25He's cussing.
40:27Shut that stuff up.
40:28Shut that stuff up.
40:30What do we do about him?
40:32I have holy water.
40:34What I'm doing is
40:35I'm going to blast
40:36the ground
40:39and basically the home
40:40throughout the top
40:41to the bottom,
40:42bottom to the top.
40:43I created a safe space
40:44with the holy water.
40:46Basically really
40:47to scare the negative off
40:49and let them see each other
40:51because the negative
40:52is kept in the middle of them.
40:54This home is protected.
40:56What is the lady's name, please?
40:58Anne.
40:59That was hurt.
41:00Yes, Anne.
41:01Okay.
41:02This home is protected.
41:04All that was
41:05is no more.
41:06Let go.
41:08Leave Miss Anne alone.
41:13The one little girl
41:14that ran through here,
41:16she just hugged her sister.
41:18She's got her.
41:20She just fell to her knees.
41:25Rest in peace, Sarah.
41:27Find your sisters.
41:28Be together.
41:31Your girls are released.
41:32Your family is released.
41:42They're gone.
41:43They're all gone.
41:46You feel it, don't you?
41:48It's easier to breathe.
41:50I know this sounds strange,
41:51but the entire energy
41:54of the museum shifted.
41:56It was almost like
41:57whatever that dark energy
41:59was in the basement,
42:00it was somehow attached
42:01to the girls.
42:02And when they left
42:04and crossed over,
42:05so did it.
42:06All right.
42:07Well, hopefully this brings
42:09whatever that negative
42:11presence was,
42:12just brings it back down.
42:13Most definitely.
42:14Who would have guessed
42:15that with all the men
42:16who died here,
42:16the spirits haunting
42:17the museum
42:18are two little girls.
42:20It's 3.33 a.m.,
42:21and we're officially
42:22wrapping our night investigation
42:24at the John Brown Wax Museum.
42:30Hey, Nick.
42:31Hi, Anne.
42:31Is everything okay
42:32with the arm?
42:33I mean, how long do you have
42:35until it's out of the sling?
42:36Only a couple more weeks,
42:37a little bit more rehab.
42:39And I'll be back
42:41to Anne again.
42:42I hear you went by
42:43the museum.
42:44Did it feel any different?
42:45I think so.
42:46I think it's less oppressive,
42:48and I think I feel
42:49comfortable there now.
42:50Thank you for everything
42:51you all have done.
42:54It's still a little
42:55unsettling that
42:56this negative presence
42:57just disappeared
42:58before we could even
42:59figure out what it really was.
43:01At least it's gone.
43:02Now, anyway.
43:03I think it's gone.
43:04I think it's gone.
43:04I think it's gone.
43:05I think it's gone.
43:07I think it's gone.
43:08I think it's all over by Mike.
43:10Is that King?
43:11It's King.
43:14Hey, how's it going?
43:14Hey, what's going on?
43:15How's it going, Mike?
43:16Good.
43:17Good.
43:17Good.
43:18I just wanted to tell you
43:19that I did reach out
43:20to Harper's Ferry PD,
43:21and they don't have
43:21anything else coming in.
43:23Really?
43:24Good.
43:24Well, not so fast.
43:26I had another report
43:28of some stuff going on
43:29in Sharpsburg,
43:29just across the river
43:31and right along the river
43:31there.
43:32Are you serious?
43:33Yeah.
43:35Should we go back?
43:36Absolutely.
43:37Do you guys unpack yet?
43:38It sounds like we're
43:39going to be here
43:39a little longer.
43:40Ha ha ha.
43:41Ha ha ha.
43:41Ha ha ha.
43:43Ha ha ha.
43:44Ha ha ha.
43:46Ha ha ha.
43:47Ha ha ha.
43:49Ha ha ha.
43:50Ha ha ha ha.
43:51Ha ha ha ha.
43:51Ha ha ha ha ha.
