BJP Block Chief Accuses IAS Officer Rinku Singh Rahi of Assault During Cold Storage Inspection

Uttar Pradesh IAS officer and Joint Magistrate Rinku Singh Rahi has landed in fresh controversy after BJP Block Pramukh Ramraja Niranjan accused him of assault during an inspection in Jalaun. A video of the incident has surfaced, and the District Magistrate has ordered an inquiry.

The incident took place on June 23 when Joint Magistrate Rinku Singh Rahi visited a cold storage in Betwa, owned by Ramraja Niranjan, to inspect safety standards.

According to Ramraja Niranjan, his manager was cooperating with the inspection but was unable to produce all the required documents within the time given as the cold storage director was away with the records. He alleged that when he reached the spot, Rinku Singh Rahi slapped his mobile phone, causing it to fall to the ground, and later pushed him during an argument.

The viral video shows Rinku Singh Rahi knocking the mobile phone out of Ramraja Niranjan's hand and pushing him back with both hands after the two came face-to-face.

Following the complaint, Jalaun District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey constituted a five-member committee to investigate the allegations.

Rinku Singh Rahi has previously been in controversy. In 2025, while serving as SDM in Shahjahanpur, he made a court clerk perform sit-ups over alleged misconduct, after which he himself performed sit-ups in front of protesting lawyers. Following the controversy, he was attached to the Revenue Council headquarters in Lucknow. In May 2026, he was posted to Jalaun.

Rinku Singh Rahi is known for exposing a major scholarship scam during his tenure as District Social Welfare Officer in Muzaffarnagar. In 2009, he survived a gun attack in which he was hit by seven bullets while probing the alleged scam.

The inquiry into the latest incident is underway.
