00:00I'm Lucy Fink, and this week I'm trying five days of waking up at 5 in the morning.
00:05Keyword, trying.
00:15As the saying goes, early to bed and early to rise makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise.
00:21This week I want to see what waking up early can do for me.
00:26But first, coffee.
00:30I typically wake up at 8am, then I go off to work, I'm busy all day, I come home, I
00:36spend
00:36some time with my roommates and my boyfriend, and I wake up the next day and I do it all
00:40over again.
00:41But this week I'm going to be waking up three hours earlier each morning.
00:46What does life look like when you spend a few extra hours every day working on just yourself?
00:52So this morning I'm going to, as they say, greet the day.
00:56I'm just going to enjoy the sunrise while I sit, and think, and write out my personal
01:02future goals.
01:05It's late on Monday night, I'm still at work.
01:07There's really something to be said about having a schedule, and waking up and eating breakfast.
01:12I'm so excited to do this again tomorrow.
01:16It's Tuesday.
01:23Hey guys, I'm back.
01:25I made a really bad decision and put myself to bed at midnight on Monday night.
01:28It should have been obvious to me, but going to bed at midnight when you plan on waking up
01:33at 5am is just not enough hours of sleep before a busy day at work.
01:38Last night I put myself to bed nice and early at 10pm, and I got a full 7 hours.
01:43The whole purpose is starting to try to form habits and routines.
01:47Something I've always wanted to do is wake up and go to the gym.
01:50This week is no excuses and no snoozing, and I'm up at 5.30, so I made an appointment with
01:57a personal trainer named Stan, and I'm going to eat some breakfast here first so that I don't
02:01collapse, then it's off to the gym.
02:04I'm going to work it out.
02:09One more rep.
02:10Slowly up.
02:14And inhale.
02:17Exhale.
02:18And inhale.
02:19Keep it slow and controlled.
02:20Breathe.
02:21Pull up.
02:22Keep raising your nil wall.
02:26Nice job.
02:27Killed it.
02:28Look at you right now.
02:29You woke up maybe an hour ago, and you're full of energy.
02:32Yes.
02:33The workout does it.
02:34It releases endorphins.
02:35You're high energy right now.
02:36Get some water in.
02:37Get some protein.
02:38You're good.
02:38Cool.
02:39Awesome.
02:40Lucy Fink.
02:41New boxing champion.
02:43I'm out.
02:44It's the middle of the day.
02:46At this point, I should be experiencing some sort of midday slump, but something about waking
02:51up and going to the gym really changed that for me.
02:54In fact, I feel more productive today than I've ever felt.
02:57Two more days of waking up at 5 a.m., and so far, so good.
03:17Good morning, video friends.
03:196.15 a.m.
03:20I'm at the office by myself, save for my cameraman, Andrew.
03:25Say hi.
03:27What's happening right now is the answer to that question that I asked myself on Monday.
03:31What does life look like when you have a few extra hours for yourself each day?
03:35Right now, I'm here early for a reason, hoping that I can blow through some work and get out
03:40of here early.
03:41In general, this week, waking up at 5 and getting some me time in before starting the
03:45day really put me in a better mood.
03:47Would I do it every day?
03:50Ah!
03:51The lights just went on.
03:52Creepy.
03:53Right now, I'm giving myself the opportunity to be super efficient, organized, and productive
03:58so that being here three hours earlier hopefully means I can get out of here three hours earlier
04:02because it's Thursday night in New York, and I'm excited, and it's almost a weekend, and
04:07we're ready to party!
04:11Right, Andrew?
04:12Yes.
04:19It's Friday, and for the past five days, I've woken up at 5 a.m.
04:24Early to bed and early to rise makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise.
04:29The most vital part of that phrase is early to bed, and that's something that I completely
04:34missed on Monday night.
04:36Should I tell them that I fell asleep on the subway?
04:38I fell asleep on the subway.
04:39So, rule number one, if you are going to wake up at 5 a.m., be sure to get a
04:43full night's
04:44sleep.
04:44Healthy, wealthy, and wise.
04:46I can definitely see how waking up at 5 a.m. can improve your health overall.
04:50If you have more time to get in a good breakfast, you can wake up and go to the gym
04:54in the morning.
04:55Wealthy.
04:55The cash is rolling in.
05:00Not really.
05:00But, I can see how waking up early can give you a little extra time to make those extra bucks.
05:05Last but not least, wise.
05:07Do I feel wiser?
05:10Well, if by wiser you mean tired, then yes.
05:18I feel wise.
05:20Give a pillow.
05:28I'm Lucy Fink from Try Living With Lucy.
05:31Can we be best friends?
05:32Click here if you want to be friends with me.
05:36You are.
05:36Right.
