00:39uh you know they they told us you was you was in the building and uh you know you were

00:45by you got a lot going on so we start the show today with another atlanta legend uh ti is

00:50guys look there's so much going on there really is but it's funny because i want to start a
00:56little sports because you just asked us about lebron the hawks man had a great season we know
01:02you were you know involved you always have supported the hawks right uh but you know it didn't end the
01:08way we wanted it to tip and then you know they lose to the knicks and we were just talking

01:11lebron but what were your thoughts man on the on the hawks this young nucleus we've got uh you know
01:16the way the way the team the way the team came together after after the the trey young trade was
01:24surprising to me the way it like began to kind of click and seem like it was working better as

01:33collective you know i'm saying that um that was that was a shock to me it was surprising to see

01:40the general manager said in the exit interviews that you know this team that we saw was really only
01:45together for about three months right and they clicked so what does this look like once they
01:51really have had time to to gel and then you're going to add a couple of draft picks on because
01:56mike right and i were talking about the draft lottery i mean we got pick eight pick 23 we don't
02:00know what that's going to look like i mean but the future's bright yeah we're always hopeful it's

03:54simply do you record it do you put it you write it down you just how does how do you

04:03i'm i'm i'm configuring you know ideas concepts hooks verses bars right it just you know they come from
04:13life and experience and usually when you hit them you hit a beat you'll know what idea fits what what
04:20what composition has it always been that way for you um or has it changed the process changed over
04:27the years i mean i think that having the inspiration making a song is is that process has been the
04:36same
04:36but being inspired to the point that i feel like this is important enough to actually lay that like
04:44to to record you know i'm saying the bar it rises as i get older right you know i mean
04:50before i'd make
04:51a song about anything how does pharrell help i think because they was up at him being such a a
04:56brilliant
04:56mind in the studio and just same the same process for you just throw some stuff out and he comes
05:01at you
05:01with some stuff i think we both have so many ideas it's about finding which one is right like when
05:10he comes to me i'm sure he has hundreds if not thousands of beats that he could play but i
05:18trust
05:18in his ability to decipher you know from all of his his plethora of compositions for him to say
05:28this is the one for you you know what i mean and when he does that i go through all
05:33of my ideas and
05:34the things that i'm thinking and i'm very uh critical of myself about which idea i choose
05:42for for this you know what i mean yeah and we both just are so so tenacious and just kind

05:51want the perfect thing the perfect outcome and i think that's you you hear the result

07:04then they reconciled and i only say that to say does that happen in the rap world does that happen
07:08in the hip-hop world i think i mean man anything can happen in the world period anything you know

07:56lucky enough to have those i don't know how we got squashed or what the deal was i know we

08:00first of all i know it sold out faster than any other hawks game it did i do know that
08:06uh i know the
08:08merch sold out i know the performance was lit you know everybody came in support of the the the
08:17concept you know um whatever held it up or stopped it i that's not i don't pay that much attention
08:25i just go in and do you know do i i worry it's just kind of like injured reserve you

08:33saying i'm gonna focus on the team that we have what we can get out here and do execute that
08:40to the
08:41best of my ability you know take the pluses and leave the minuses yeah well look the last time we
08:47had you in studio ti was here with jermaine dupree and young dro and you guys were talking about the
08:52documentary which was incredible if you've not seen it on magic city it was amazing and it was
08:57ironic because right after we had you guys in studio then the hawks came out with this idea of
09:02we're gonna do a magic city night and then it just the momentum grew right and and then you know
09:07for
09:07the nba to say ah well i think what ticked off a lot of people tip is is the merch
09:12because a lot of
09:13folks was ready to go get their magic city hoodies and if you hadn't pre-ordered then you weren't getting
09:19them and they they were not going to sell them at the arena that night yeah i mean that's that's
09:24that's scarcity you know i'm saying that's a that's a that's an element of marketing you know what i
09:30mean people the the the value rises of things the harder they are to get and i think you know
09:37that's
09:38that exclusivity is is is is welcomed in in business so i don't know what would make people
09:45upset about that we also didn't get their hoodies thank you but the nba it's like they paid more
09:51next time they just didn't get the atlanta atlantis net whatever you want to call it it's unique to
09:57atlanta yeah the whole culture of the nightclub and the strip club and everything that you talked
10:01about in the documentary we spoke with this last time and it just seems like no one got this not
10:05the joke but no one got it outside of 285 but but maybe it's not for them you know and
10:10that's okay
10:10everything ain't got to be for everybody you know i'm saying when you have your moments it's people
10:15to celebrate stuff all the time that i'm it's not for me you know but guess what i turn my
10:22head my
10:22business enjoy the things that i can enjoy about the the celebration it ain't got to be speaking for
10:30your life or lifestyle all the time every time everything ain't about right any of us we all share
10:37this big ball of dirt together and you know hopefully we get a moment with somebody pay
10:42attention to something that we care about but when something somebody paying attention to something
10:46that other people care about don't come in and try to ruin their moment right because ain't nobody
10:51trying to ruin yours yeah that's real uh let's talk about a couple of different things man first of
10:57all any acting projects in the works yeah absolutely what you got i got two films i got two films
11:03that uh
11:03i directed uh wrote um one of them i'm actually starring in um they're both on grand hustle films
11:12one is a sequel to my first film as a director called departments um it was it was uh it
11:19was released
11:20independently uh later it's now on tubi uh but you know uh all black uh was the first to put
11:27it on
11:27platform and it it did great numbers there um and now all black is you know now introducing it to
11:36their
11:36audience again the sequel departments part two uh it'll be this summer let's see and then my other film
11:42we're going to the abff uh the american black film festival in miami uh i think it's the 30th
11:5030th of this month and we'll be uh screening it um it's called thought she was the one starring myself
11:59uh terrence jay um uh britney howl dominique pair uh let's see you got uh dc unflight chris mayor
12:10uh chameleon uh tyler chronicles okay uh yeah so yes it's a romantic comedy okay it's a romantic
12:20comedy uh but you know a group of young professionals looking for love in atl i see so
12:26the backdrop is still at the atl absolutely okay nice yeah what about this 20 year anniversary
12:31celebration of atl man at mercedes-benz tomorrow man so we're gonna go to the dome right and we're
12:37gonna and we're gonna turn into a skate rink you know what i'm saying and yeah we're gonna celebrate
12:42we're gonna celebrate the film atl the cast coming in um chris robinson and i will be
12:48you know documenting the moment uh maybe shooting the video you know i mean for my next album yeah
12:55maybe you know if we can if we can if we can fit the cameras in we'll figure something out
13:00yeah we're just gonna have a good time man i think the the film reaching 20 years uh and still
13:06having
13:07the relevance and and and still having the impact that it had on on our culture on our generation
13:15and the next generation i feel like that's you know that's important enough you know for uh uh
13:21a celebration of this magnitude you still remember when they approached you you guys were thinking
13:25about doing that 20 some odd years ago now when and what that was like yeah like because it feels
13:30like yesterday right yeah well no it feels like a while it does yeah because because sometimes when
13:36you say man i just did that but it's been 20 years yeah but see when you have kids you
13:41know
13:41change change kids you can actually see the time you know when they say where does the time go look
13:48at your child that's where the time went it happened so fast major just graduated high school yesterday
13:54you know what i'm saying he wasn't even born when you went there yeah you feel what i'm saying so

14:00it feels like a while but i love it you know i love that it's been this long and and
14:06i'm i'm just so
14:07thankful and blessed it i was a part of something so monumental we always love seeing you we appreciate
