00:00There's no reason to be anything other than fully cautious with Ronald Acuna
00:04and anything that he's dealing with.
00:06The team's playing great, so you buy yourself some time on that.
00:09Where are we at with his timeline?
00:11I think he could be due to come back by the end of the Cubs series,
00:14like Thursday, right?
00:16Because it was 10-day.
00:17They might extend it.
00:18Yeah, he's eligible to come back this week.
00:19He may have even been eligible today or tomorrow.
00:21Okay.
00:23Now, once the 10-day is up, they don't got to put him back on it.
00:25He just won't play, right?
00:26Yeah.
00:27Okay.
00:28Yeah, and they've got some decisions to make coming up.
00:30Obviously, Hasan Kim comes back today.
00:32He'll start.
00:33Yeah.
00:34With Acuna hurt still and now Eli White in the concussion protocol,
00:37that makes it a little easier for a minute.
00:39But we talked about this yesterday.
00:41Whatever happens, I know Dubon will stay in the lineup right now
00:44because those guys are out.
00:45Yeah.
00:45But when Acuna comes back and Eli White comes back,
00:48Dubon still needs to be out there a lot of days.
00:51They're going to figure out how to get him on the foot.
00:53He's playing too good.
00:53Because he's playing too damn good.
00:54And the names that you just rattled off, he's the better of all.
00:57He's playing better than all of them.
00:59Yeah.
00:59Even Sashimsky out there.
01:00I mean, he's just better.
01:01He's just been playing better than all those guys.
01:02So, yeah, you've got to find a way to keep him active until he's not.
01:06You know, but, I mean, while it's hot, you ride it.
01:09Right, because that's the thing.
01:10Yeah, man.
01:11Eventually, maybe not.
01:12Who knows?
01:12Maybe not.
01:12Maybe not.
01:13Maybe Tim hires and he has uncovered something in his swing
01:16and he'll be like this.
01:17Probably he'll cool off at some point
01:19and then he can go back to being more of a utility guy
01:22and he's not going to be in the lineup every single day.
01:24But until then, I mean, he's been as clutch as anybody.
01:27It's been phenomenal what he's given this team so far.
01:31Like, we haven't – so much of what has happened through 40 games
01:35could be about, all right, we'll wait for this guy to get back,
01:37this guy to get back.
01:37That was last year because they were bad
01:39and really good players were hurt.
01:41We haven't talked hardly at all other than, wow,
01:43not only are they playing great,
01:45but then you're going to get to add these guys back.
01:47And a lot of that is because of guys like Dubon,
01:49who's been doing awesome in kind of their place.
01:53So, I expect to see him in the lineup tonight.
01:55I'm sure we will.
01:56It'll be cool to see Hasan Kim in the lineup tonight too.
01:58Yeah, man.
01:59Yeah, I mean, we talked about, you know, staying afloat.
02:01Not necessarily staying afloat,
02:02but winning and progressing from these other guys
02:04that we didn't know what their contribution was going to be
02:07coming out of spring training.
02:08And now we've seen what it has been.
02:10We're Hasan Kim and Sean Murphy and guys like that to come back.
02:13Now, they're back, but these guys are still playing Strider.
02:16But these guys are still doing their thing.
02:18And so, these are those decisions as a general manager.
02:21I love the Alex to have.
02:22Like, all right, who are we going to sit down?
02:23How are we going to do this?
02:25Who's going to be in the lineup here and there and everything?
02:27And we know there are certain guys that aren't going to take a rest.
02:30We know Matt Olsen's not coming out of no damn games.
02:32We understand that.
02:33But there's other positions where you might want to give somebody a rest
02:36that Walt Weiss has talked about before the season
02:38as far as getting a guy a blow here and there.
02:40But yet you have the depth now that you can put guys right there
02:43if you want to let Ozzie have a day off.
02:46Or you want to have, obviously, Hasan Kim's coming back.
02:48Is he going to be full boat?
02:49Or is he going to have some in-between moments there?
02:51Austin Riley's not coming out either.
02:53And so, yeah.
02:54So, I mean, those three guys.
02:56For now.
02:56Yeah, for now.
02:57For now, he's not coming out.
02:59But can Dubon play?
03:00I'm sure Dubon can play third.
03:01I think he could do anything.
03:03I'm a Dubon believer now.
03:05Are you?
03:05I think he could catch.
03:06Okay.
03:06I was going to ask.
03:07That's one of my next questions.
03:08I think he could pitch.
03:09I don't know.
03:09But he could play any position.
03:11But he's awesome.
03:11And he's proven it.
03:12And I was thinking about it.
03:13He's proven it.
03:13Yeah.
03:14And he plays outfield at, like, a pretty high level defensively.
03:17Like, we knew when you got him.
03:18It was like, all right.
03:19Short stop.
03:20If you don't bring Kim back, whatever.
03:22That's not a great plan.
03:23But, okay.
03:24Utility guy.
03:24I didn't know he was utility everything.
03:26I thought it was more utility infield.
03:28And he was kind of famous for his defense at short stop.
03:31He could do everything.
03:32Yeah.
03:32He's a ball-playing Jesse, as our guy Mark Schlerford like to say.
03:35A ball-playing Jesse.
03:37So, yeah.
03:37But, again, a big series starting tonight against the Cubbies,
03:41who we talked earlier in the show, are playing some damn good ball.
03:45And they got some damn good players.
03:46And so, I know some people, they don't.
03:48I mean, they're going to go out there and be, like,
03:50trying to take that emotion out.
03:51I know we mentioned a lot about yesterday.
03:52They, like, the cause or whatever, you know,
03:56to get behind and rally cries and all those different things.
04:00Well, I mean, the Cubs, we don't give a damn about that.
04:03We don't give a damn.
04:03We don't give a damn that we're going to be emotional in that building tonight.
04:06All the emotion.
04:07We don't care about that.
04:07They might be emotional, too.
04:08You never know.
04:08Yeah.
04:09You know?
04:09I doubt it.
04:10I don't know.
04:10They come to spank ass.
04:11They seem like an emotional group.
04:14Who, the Cubs?
04:15Yeah.
04:16I just feel like, you know, Pete Crow Armstrong.
04:18Have you ever met a bad Cubs fan?
04:20No, I like all Cubs fans.
04:21I've never met a bad Cubs fan.
04:22Me either.
04:22I've never met one.
04:23Yeah, I know.
04:24They're one of those ones that, like, you know,
04:26I don't want, I want the Braves to win.
04:28Yes.
04:28If the Braves don't win, I want the Mariners to win.
04:30But I don't mind when the Cubs win.
04:31Yeah, man, that was awesome.
04:32I feel the same way about, like, Pirates fans.
04:36I don't know.
04:38They've been bad for a long time.
04:39Reds fans, too.
04:40The teams are really old, and they never win anything anymore.
04:43Right, okay.
04:43So, like, if you're still kind of rocking with that team,
04:46you deserve it.
04:47Yeah.
04:47Oh, yeah, because you've got to be a loyal fan to be a Reds fan.
04:50Yeah.
04:51They're doing pretty good this year.
04:52Yeah.
04:52Oh, so are the Pirates.
04:53So are the Pirates.
04:53It's crazy.
04:54We talked about, like, they came to the scene.
04:56The Pirates are talking about, they're thinking about winning more this year.
04:59Well, they brought up that prospect and gave him a long-term contract
05:02before he even played a game.
05:03Yes.
05:04And he's been playing pretty good.
05:04But they got one of the best young superstars in the damn game.
05:08Both teams do.
05:08They do.
05:09Both teams do.
05:10Both teams do.
05:11Skeens is no Bryce Elder, but he's good.
05:13Come on, man.
05:14He's a good pitcher.
05:16He's no Elder.
05:17He's no Elder.
05:18You stack those numbers up next to each other.
05:20We'll see.
05:20Tell us a tale.
05:22Yeah, I don't know.
05:22There's something about the Cubs players, though.
05:23I just feel like they probably listen to a lot of Good Charlotte before the game
05:26and have a nice cry.
05:27Who is Good Charlotte?
05:28This is an emo band.
05:29Okay.
05:29Yeah.
05:30Kind of sit around, eye black, but you get it up a little too high, so it's almost eye
05:34shadow.
05:34What classifies them as an emo band?
05:36The emotional.
05:37Oh.
05:39They just make music that's emotional.
05:40Was Nevada an emo game?
05:42No, they were grunge.
05:42Grunge.
05:44Grunge kind of like morphed into emo.
05:49Okay.
05:49Yeah, the grunge guys started wearing more makeup.
05:51Yeah.
05:51Oh, okay.
05:52And the music got way worse.
05:54A lot weirder.
05:54Yeah, way worse.
05:55Okay.
05:55But, yeah.
05:57I think, yeah, one kind of led to the other, maybe like a second cousin of one.
06:00Oh, okay.
06:01The more you know.
06:02Yeah, now you know.
06:03When grunge makes it all the way to Charlotte, that kind of turns into emo by the time it
06:08gets to Charlotte.
06:09All I'm saying is the Cubs are super emo.
06:12Okay.
06:12That's my take.
