00:00What's going on everyone? I'm Abby Labar and welcome to Quick Pitch. There's only one way to start here so
00:06let's state the obvious. It's been a rough few days for the Phillies. They're feeling the consequences of being swept
00:11by their division rival. Following the losses to the Mets, the Phillies seven game lead in the NL East has
00:16fallen to just a four game cushion. They've allowed 25 runs during the skid and Kyle Schwarber has been held
00:22hitless in his last 28 beats. So how do they patch up these wounds? Maybe a home matchup against the
00:28Braves is exactly what's going on.
00:30The doctor ordered. Schwarber has been contagious at the plate against Atlanta with four homers in nine games against the
00:36Braves. Which speaking of, I think Dr. D. Rowe and the rest of the MLB Central crew had some thoughts
00:42on this one. Here's Braves at Phillies in the MLB Network Showcase MLB Central Edition.
00:47A way for Kyle Schwarber to end his hitless streak, becoming the 21st player in MLB history with a four
00:54homer game. He's the fourth different Philly to accomplish the feat and first since Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt back
01:00in 1976.
01:02The Phillies are also the first team in MLB history to have four different players hit four home runs in
01:08a single game.
01:09Garrett Crochet tossed eight scoreless the last time he faced the Orioles.
01:13Was he able to do it again and finish off the sweep for the Sox? Find out when Quick Pitch
01:19returns.
01:20Who will rule the realm of MLB pitchers? It's the ongoing debate.
01:25For much of the 2025 season, Tigers ace Tarek Skubel has been the favorite to win the AL Cy Young
01:30Award.
01:30Entering Thursday, Skubel leads all of baseball with 212 strikeouts.
01:35But there's another Cy Young contender also fighting for the pitching triple crown.
01:39Garrett Crochet's ERA trails Skubel's ERA by just a tenth of a run and his total strikeouts by five.
01:46Not to mention, with a win on Thursday, the Red Sox ace would tie Freddy Peralta for the most in
01:52MLB.
01:52As Boston chases their first four-game sweep at Camden Yards since 2018,
01:57let's check out if Crochet can put away the O's and take the crown from Skubel all in a day's
02:03work.
02:04Garrett Crochet allowed just two runs and struck out seven in six innings against the Orioles on Thursday.
02:09He jumped Skubel for the AL lead in strikeouts and is tied for the lead in wins.
02:13His 2-4-0 ERA is third in the AL, but is well within striking distance of Skubel for the
02:19lead.
02:20Twice, but that's not what he was most excited about on Thursday.
02:24Find out what he's running wild for when QP returns.
02:29Spotlight presented by FanDuel.
02:32Straight games thanks to Jung-Hoo Lee's heroics on Thursday.
02:35Lee's game-ending single was the Giants' 10th walk-off victory of the season.
02:40And that's tied with the Red Sox and Brewers for the most in the major leagues.
02:46Christian Walker has been absolutely demolishing the ball lately.
02:50We'll take a look at his big night when Quick Pitch comes back.
02:54Christian Walker is starting to heat up.
02:57He's gone deep five times in the last seven games, including twice on Thursday.
03:01Maybe facing the Rockies has helped.
03:04Since the start of 2019, Walker is batting .330 with 27 home runs and an OPS over 1,000 in
03:1288 games against Colorado.
03:14History was made in the city of brotherly love on Thursday.
03:18We'll revisit an incredible night from Kyle Schwarber when we come back.
03:23You get a Schwarbomb and you get a Schwarbomb.
03:26Kyle Schwarber went deep four times and set a Philly's record with nine RBI.
03:30He is the third different player to hit four homers in a game this season, joining Nick Kurtz and Eugenio
03:36Suarez.
03:36This is the first time in Major League history that we've had three players have a four-homer game in
03:42the same season.
03:43Let's hear from the MLB Central crew who had the call on Thursday.
