00:00On a Wednesday, I'm Abby Labar, and welcome to Quick Pitch presented by Home Depot.
00:04There's nothing quite like the taste of a freshly opened OJ, and the Rays have all the juice right
00:10now. After calling another ballpark their home, Tampa Bay has taken the most of being back in
00:16the Dome winning nine straight home games. They are squeezing everything out of teams,
00:21allowing three runs or fewer in each of their last 12 games, finding a way to win 11 of those.
00:26On Wednesday, they will look for a burst of flavor from Shane McClanahan,
00:30who enters the day with 11 straight scoreless innings all at home.
00:34Let's head to the Trap to see if they can keep raising the roof against a divisional opponent.
00:40These Rays just won't stop winning. They've won 12 of their last 13 games and have allowed just 17
00:45runs during that span. Tampa Bay has allowed three runs or fewer in all 13 games, and that's a franchise
00:51record. They've also won 10 straight games at Tropicana Field, which is their longest
00:56home winning streak since setting a team record with 14 straight home wins in 2023.
01:00The Rays haven't been the only team with that home field. Chicago is also looking to match their
01:06longest home winning streak in the last 90 seasons, with 14 straight at the friendly confines.
01:12Let's see if they could keep it going on the north side.
01:14Another day, another walk-off win for the Cubbies. They have three straight walk-off victories for the
01:19first time since 2009. Chicago has also won 14 straight games at Wrigley Field, which is tied for
01:25the second longest home streak for the Cubbies since 1900. They'll look to make it 15 straight as
01:31they finish their four-game series against the Reds on Thursday.
01:35Keynes is looking for a bounce-back performance in the desert, which is bad news for the Snakes.
01:40We have highlights when we return.
01:43Welcome back to Quick Pitch, presented by Home Depot.
01:46Quite the news week we've had already with the latest headline coming out of Houston.
01:50During batting practice, prior to Tuesday's game, Carlos Correa suffered a significant left ankle injury.
01:57On Wednesday, sources told Brian McTaggart that Correa will have surgery on his ankle and therefore
02:03will miss the rest of the season. Let's see if the Astros could turn the page, as seen on
02:08Afternoon Baseball.
02:09Andy Paz had a real turner on Wednesday. He set a career high with three home runs,
02:15and the Dodgers win over the Astros. Pajes is just the fourth center fielder in franchise history
02:20to hit at least three home runs in a game, and he's the first to do so since Jim Wynn
02:24accomplished
02:24the feat more than 50 years ago.
02:27Gamers out there, what's the best thing to do when you gotta smash them all?
02:31Well, for Mike Trout and Zach Neto, it's playing Pokemon cards.
02:35Neto has been in a bit of a slump, and before Tuesday's game, Trout texted him and said they
02:40would rip open a deck of Pokemon cards, and if there was a Charizard, Neto would hit a homer.
02:44Sure enough, the cards were in their favor, and Neto finally landed a critical hit with
02:49a homer. Will they get that same pokey boost today against the White Sox?
02:53It seems like Juan Soto has done it all when it comes to the diamond, but on Wednesday,
02:58he did something he's never done before. Find out what it is after the break.
03:03This is D.C. for the Same Game Parlay Spotlight, presented by Vandos.
03:08What's a polar bear doing in South Beach? Hitting homers, of course. The weather is heating up,
03:15and so is Pete Alonzo's bat after the break.
03:18Have a thought in your head, and you're trying to explain, like, what you're thinking, and
03:22you're trying to get to the point, but while you're explaining it, you're just not really
03:25sure where you're going with it, and where was I going with this? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:29Pat Murphy. This happened to him today.
03:31A little, like, if you know anyone that's got those, that got me. Hey, he landed the plane,
03:34though. I thought he did a great job of making the point. We'll see you next time.
