00:00Okay, let's go over now to BJP leader.
00:03Khushpu Sundar now joins me.
00:05BJP Tamil Nadu leader, appreciate your joining us, Khushpu Sundar.
00:09You are among the few who yesterday openly came out from the BJP to say
00:13Vijay should be given a chance to form a government.
00:16The governor should invite Vijay because there was a belief that the BJP
00:20was silently backing the AIDMK to deny Vijay having an alliance with the Congress.
00:27Was that true or not?
00:30That the BJP ideally did not want this Vijay Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu?
00:36Rajdi, first I would like to know why would BJP interfere in Vijay taking over as a CM?
00:42He has won the election with 108 as a single largest party of Tamil Nadu.
00:46What does BJP go to gain by stopping Vijay from becoming a Chief Minister?
00:51You wanted to stop Vijay and the Congress.
00:53You wanted to stop Vijay aligning with the Congress because you fear it's a formidable alliance.
00:57That would then go into the 2029 elections in Tamil Nadu.
01:01Congress, Congress with just five, all these years, they have not won in the last 59 years.
01:09Congress has not gone solo in any election.
01:13Kamraj was the last Chief Minister from a leader, in fact, from Congress who could lead the state.
01:19In the last 59 years, when Congress cannot stand on its own feet, they have been going and back riding,
01:27camel riding on either AIDMK or DNK.
01:32And you think with just five seats, we are going to be scared of them?
01:36I'm sure this sounds like a huge joke to me.
01:39But having said that, I think first we would like to congratulate Vijay for finally proving his majority and taking
01:46over.
01:47And what I hear that there's an oath ceremony tomorrow.
01:51So congratulations to him.
01:52The issue is Congress is scared.
01:55They don't backstab.
01:56Now they have gone a step ahead where they have actually stabbed right in the faces of DMK.
02:01They don't have the courage to stand alone.
02:03They don't win a single seat without the support of DMK.
02:06And they just for one seat or two, probably ministry birth.
02:10The problem with Congress is they are in power in with all the issues.
02:16They are in power in Karnataka.
02:17They are in Telangana and they have won Kerala.
02:21So now they want to form an alliance in Tamil Nadu with TVK to tell the world, see, we are
02:27in the south.
02:28What the Congress do not understand is they just have five seats after the decimal of Congress, the most outrageous
02:36defeat in West Bengal of Congress, where they've just won two seats.
02:40Who are they trying to fool?
02:42They're trying to fool themselves.
02:43They're falling into the rut and trying to fool themselves.
02:46And they're telling the world, don't trust us.
02:48We are not trustworthy.
02:49We can backstab.
02:51We can actually look into your faces and stab you directly because we have that courage.
02:55For us, nothing else matters.
02:57For us, ma'am, ma'am, you're targeting the Congress and you're saying that the Congress was the one that
03:03backstabbed.
03:03It is, there's nothing to be targeted.
03:04Congress is to be targeted.
03:06Okay.
03:06The kind of doings what Congress is doing.
03:08I know you're a former Congresswoman, but I'm not going to go into the past.
03:11All I want to ask you.
03:12No, no, no.
03:13No, no, one minute, ma'am.
03:14No, you can go into the past.
03:15I walked out of Congress because I refused to be part of that rut.
03:46Okay.
03:48They could become a powerful, in a way, counterweight to the Dravidar parties.
03:54Would you agree with that?
03:55That this alliance could be a challenge now to the existing players in Tamil Nadu and makes it even more
04:00difficult for the BJP to get an entry into Tamil Nadu?
04:04No, Rajiv, you have said, yourself said it.
04:07If, and there's one big if when it comes to Congress, they can turn codes anytime.
04:12Now, as far as BJP is concerned, we are not in a hurry.
04:16What were we 15 years back in West Bengal?
04:19We just had three seats.
04:20Then we grew slowly.
04:2115 years later with the single largest party, 204 seats in West Bengal.
04:26And the Congress is decimated.
04:28Give us time.
04:29We are working on it.
04:30We are not in a hurry.
04:30We are not going to stab in somebody's back or, you know, do a foul play and say that to
04:35me, power is the most important thing because I have to prove a point.
04:38No, we are not here to prove a point.
04:40We are here to serve the people.
04:42We are here to take the nation forward.
04:44And we are working towards that.
04:45So, don't...
04:46You're assuring, there was no attempt made to keep Vijay waiting because the...
04:51So, what the rumor means that the governor, who's a former BJP leader of Goa, was being put under pressure
04:56from the center.
04:56Don't invite Vijay because he's taking Congress support.
05:01Let's wait till the AIDMK enters the fray.
05:04All of that is not true?
05:05No, it's definitely not true.
05:07I think some people who have been sitting with the idle minds, the devil's workshop.
05:11So, I think too many idle minds who are there and sitting and talking about this.
05:15Because we are not going to gain anything by not allowing Vijay.
05:18We accept wherever we have lost it.
05:21We have lost with just three seats in Kerala.
05:24We accept that's people's mandate.
05:25We very graciously accept that.
05:27We don't have to fall into these dirty tricks and say that, no, you stop him.
05:31No.
05:32BJP did not do that.
05:33BJP is the single largest democratic party in the country today.
05:37We have all over.
05:38Just few pockets here and there.
05:40We may not be there.
05:41Very tiny pockets.
05:42But then we rule.
05:43And today, when you look at West Bengal and Assam, how we have come back to power.
05:46People had dismissed us.
05:47They said, we can never come back.
05:49We can never find a foothold in West Bengal.
05:51They said, we'll never come back in Assam and see where we are today.
05:54You know, I just...
05:56Okay, nobody is dismissing you.
05:57I want to know, do you dismiss this Vijay Congress alliance or do you believe this alliance will last,
06:02given that it has such a wafer-thin majority?
06:04I don't trust Congress.
06:07Simple as that.
06:08Okay, so you believe Congress could ditch Vijay at some time.
06:12Am I correct?
06:12Yes, if DMK is going to come back to power, tomorrow,
06:16AI, DMK and BJP are coming back to power,
06:18I wouldn't be surprised if Congress is going to come crawling to AI, DMK and say that,
06:23please take us back.
06:24Or the DMK.
06:25You know, there's a saying.
06:26Crawling back to the DMK, you're saying.
06:28But I want to ask you one thing.
06:30Away from all of this, in conclusion,
06:32you are part of the film industry.
06:34Here is a film star who's made it big.
06:36What is so special about Vijay?
06:38You must be knowing him.
06:38Give our audience an insight about Vijay.
06:41Are you surprised that a film star first day, first show has such a blockbuster hit in politics?
06:48Vijay, everyone knows.
06:50Vijay is more like my younger brother.
06:51So, I do keep in touch.
06:53I have kept in touch with him all these years.
06:55And I'm more than happy personally, apart from being part of BJP,
06:59I think personally it gives me immense pride to see my younger brother
07:02scaling such brilliant heights, the way, the kind of power he's creating today,
07:08he's generated with the youth.
07:09It gives me, you know, like I said, I'm really proud of him.
07:13And Vijay, what I know of him, is quite capable, a man of few words.
07:17He's always silent.
07:18We don't hear him speak much, but knowing Vijay, he's a very, a man with a lot of patience
07:24and determination.
07:25So, I'm sure that he's going to do well.
07:28What is it?
07:29But tell us something about him that we don't know.
07:32Since he's your younger brother, we should know something about Vijay because so little
07:36is known about him.
07:37What is Vijay like?
07:39What is Vijay like when, you know, what is that one, you know, is there something about
07:43Vijay that you believe has made him so, you know, other actors have tried in Tamil Nadu,
07:48not succeeded in recent time, not since the great MGR and Jailalita.
07:52So, what is it about Vijay that made him so appealing to the people of Tamil Nadu?
07:58I think his honesty.
08:02That is what appealed to the people, the way he spoke, the way he presented himself.
08:06There was no hidden agenda when he spoke to them.
08:09And today, when you come to power with, by breaking every rule in the book of politics
08:15and election, I think there is something about you which is very, very charming, appealing
08:19to the people, especially with the next generation, how they went all the way out and the women,
08:26how they were able to connect with him.
08:28What people don't know about Vijay is there's other side of him.
08:31And that's a very, very fun-loving man which is behind what you see as a serious man today.
08:37He's an absolutely, with a terrific sense of humour and he's a very fun-loving person.
08:42But very few outsiders get to see that side of him.
08:45I have seen that side of him.
08:47So, I know genuinely the kind of human that he is.
08:51You know, I just want to say, since you said he's very honest,
08:53he also told me when I met him that the BJP is my ideological adversary,
08:58the Davidea parties are my political adversaries.
09:01He doesn't seem to like the BJP too much.
09:03He seems to perhaps believe in a kind of secularism which is very contrary to the BJP's vision.
09:10Does that trouble you at all?
09:11He seems to prefer Rahul Gandhi and the Congress to the BJP and Narendra Modi.
09:17No, that's because he doesn't know Mr. Rahul Gandhi or Congress.
09:20This is just the beginning.
09:21Like I said, don't trust the Congress.
09:23So, Vijay, when I say honesty, the way he speaks to the people when it comes to working,
09:28when it comes to going down and working for the people, is that honesty I'm talking about.
09:33You can be in politics, you can have different opinions and that is the best quality about India
09:38where you have the, you know, very democratic society.
09:41You can still be friends.
09:42If Vijay is going to be in Parliament and if he doesn't like BJP,
09:45it does not mean that the one person who has won from BJP, Mr. Bojan Rajan,
09:51from Ooty, all the other AI DMKs.
09:54Today, he's taken the support of everyone who's been in alliance with DMK.
09:59And he said, my biggest enemy is DMK.
10:01But you still have taken support from the parties who have been, you know, part of DMK today.
10:08So, this is politics.
10:10So, you don't say that everybody, there's nobody a permanent friend,
10:13there's nobody a permanent enemy when it comes to politics.
10:15When you talk about Vijay, I know there's other side of him and I wish him all the best.
10:19Okay, you wish him all the best.
10:20Good to hear you say that.
10:21Good to hear ideological adversaries.
10:24But contemporaries when it comes, or certainly colleagues when it comes to cinema, wishing him well.
10:30Thank you very much, Kushpu Sundar, for joining me here on the show tonight.
