00:00From Tamil Nadu, sources are telling India today that the DMK and the AIA DMK are working to form
00:07an alliance in the state. AIA DMK sources say talks are underway. Will the DMK come on board?
00:17So the DMK had won, they've won 59 seats. AIA DMK had won 47 seats. Vijay yet to prove numbers.
00:26Now, Thalapati Vijay has the mandate but not absolute numbers. At 108, he's still 10 short of the numbers that
00:36are required.
00:37Vijay yet to prove numbers before the governor but information that the DMK and the AIA DMK are talking about
00:46coming together
00:47to claim they have numbers. I want to cut across to Nagarjun Dwarkanath.
00:53Okay, in just a moment we are told we've just lost that line with Nagarjun Dwarkanath.
00:58Vijay has already met the governor. He has the popular mandate of the people and he's taken,
01:05Thalapati Vijay has taken the state by storm.
01:09Now, I want to cut across to Apoorva joining us with more on the story.
01:17Tell us about how numbers will stack up for the DMK and the AIA DMK coming together
01:22and what are Thalapati Vijay supporters saying about this?
01:27Well, in fact, Gaurav, you see it will be an interesting twist that will come in.
01:33Remember, AIA DMK has 45 MLAs and for DMK as well you have easily, you know, more than 50 plus.
01:41So, overall, it looks like it will be a close cut between AIA DMK and DMK if they align against
01:48the TVK as well.
01:49Remember, TVK is lacking in terms of a majority.
01:53That's why TVK has been trying to rope in these numbers.
01:56And essentially, one more thing if you do notice is that if the AIA DMK and the DMK alliance, you
02:03know,
02:04KED alliance does join together, then there is a possibility of where this AIA DMK and the BJP alliance will
02:11fit in.
02:12Will the BJP be pushed out of the AIA DMK alliance?
02:16That's one thing that AIA DMK will have to take a call on.
02:19And second, these other smaller parties, including the left party, CPI, CPM, as well as VCK,
02:26they will not have, you know, no second thoughts in continuing on the alliance with the DMK alliance as well.
02:33Because right now, these smaller parties is what TVK is looking at in terms of, you know, merging so that
02:41he can get this majority.
02:42So, it will be, you know, make or break situation.
02:45Yes, Apoorva, I want to understand, DMK and AIA DMK have been at loggerheads.
02:51How will they come together to form the government?
02:54You know, it is like East and West coming together and is the only agenda to keep Thalapati Vijay out
03:01of power?
03:02Because this, in a way, would appear that they are going against the wishes of the people of Tamil Nadu.
03:13AIA DMK and DMK, it's not, you know, parties.
03:16The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
03:19Both of these parties have essentially, in the grassroots levels, have the same, similar kind of ideologies.
03:26You know, the Dravidian parties.
03:28That's where AIA DMK and DMK have that unanimity in.
03:31In fact, AIA DMK was broken off as a branch of the DMK during Pere Renier Anna's time.
03:40And MGR had been that person who had taken force the party and, you know, rebranded from DMK into AIA
03:47DMK, which then later was led by Iron Lady J.J.
03:51Stay with me for a moment.
03:53This is stunning, stunning developments in the backdrop of AIA DMK refusing to have a post-poll alliance with the
04:00TVK, with Thalapati Vijay's party.
04:03The Congress parting ways with the DMK and saying they will support Vijay in this endeavor to form the government.
04:11So how do numbers stack up?
04:12And we'll just show you those numbers on the television screen.
04:15The TVK has won 107 seats.
04:19They're still 11 short of the majority mark.
04:22The Congress has 5.
04:24They've agreed to support them.
04:26That would take the tally to 112.
04:29They're still short.
04:30They're still 6 short to form the government.
04:33And not to say a stable government still took cobble numbers to get to the halfway mark plus 1.
04:38So they still need 6 to form the government.
04:41They're confident they will get the support from the left, which has 4 seats.
04:45This is where the DMK and the AIA DMK come to the other side.
04:52The DMK and the AIA DMK, if you combine their numbers, it comes to 106.
04:57Still one short of 107 that TVK has or what Thalapati Vijay has.
05:02DMK with 59.
05:03And AIA DMK with 47.
05:06What will they do with the rest of the numbers?
05:09And I want to bring in Pramod Madhav for more on this.
05:12Pramod, you've been tracking the story very, very closely.
05:15How do numbers stack up for Thalapati Vijay?
05:18And tell me more about this DMK, AIA DMK conversation that they are thinking of coming together.
05:23How will they get the numbers?
05:27Gaurav, this is an absolute shocker that is happening in the state of Tamil Nadu.
05:30The first and primary shock that happened on 4th of May is actually Vijay, the Tamil Nadu-Karagam leader winning
05:35with 108.
05:36But imagine right now the AIA strivals, DMK and AIA DMK holding talks.
05:41I'm very clearly stating we are putting this with a question mark over here because very clearly the people who
05:46work over there,
05:47the office bearers who actually handle all the kind of communications, they were the ones who were first shocked and
05:52informed us about this kind of communication and talks between AIA DMK and DMK.
05:57The sequence has apparently occurred in such a way that almost three days ago the revival of the talks have
06:02been initiated.
06:03But what happened is that like at that time CV Shanmugam, SP Willimani were not on board on this matter
06:08claiming that it could actually devastate the party.
06:11And this is where today morning they apparently claim that they want to go along and support the TVK.
06:16However, as Congress went earlier and they gave the, you know, support over there, that plan was completely put on
06:23hold.
06:23And now we've been told that initiation of talks from EPS camp to the former Deputy Chief Minister within the
06:30camp has been, you know, kind of like communication has been created and talks are still on.
06:35Again, Gaurav, I'm putting this with a question mark because tomorrow definitely these two tall parties will come and say
06:40that there is no kind of communication that occurred.
06:42But so far this has been happening and the people who are in the inner circle are absolutely shocked about
06:48this because all now what the Dravidian parties who are arch rivals want to do is to make sure that
06:54Vijay does not come to power.
06:55I'm again saying we are taking this with a pinch of salt.
06:58We are putting this with a question mark around because AIA DMK claims that DMK has to give a firm
07:02response to this particular plan.
07:05But how did this plan come in the first place?
07:09What prompted this plan in the first place?
07:11Was there desire only to keep, you know, Thalapati Vijay?
