Bam Adebayo a potential trade target for Boston?
Hypothetically, would you be content with a Jaylen Brown for Adebayo trade? Is a blockbuster trade involving JB and Bam out of the question, or realistic? Will JB stay in Boston long-term?

00:00This tweet at 1.41 yesterday from Jalen Brown has been seen 11 million times.
00:05I was going to weigh in on this.
00:06This is probably everybody's sleeve.
00:08I'm sorry if it is.
00:09No, we can do it together.
00:10I love doing things with you.
00:12Stephen A. Smith told Jalen Brown to, quote, be quiet.
00:16Jalen Brown, quote, tweeted the first take video with,
00:20I'll be quiet slash stop streaming if you be quiet and retire.
00:28Let's give people what they want.
00:34We joke about how this began with the Vrabel story that there was the awful PR decisions that exploded everything
00:41else.
00:42Jalen, just listen to Stephen A. Smith here.
00:46You're doing yourself no favors.
00:48I don't care how many guys with green team in their Twitter bio say, yeah, he should leave.
00:54Like Stephen A. Smith makes 10 million a year to talk about you.
00:56He's not going to be quiet.
00:58He's good at his job, and you are making him far more popular around the country by, quote, tweeting his
01:05video that was probably seen 50,000 times before you did this.
01:08I don't understand what the end game is because all Jalen Brown does is prove everybody that's doubting him right.
01:17He's proving people saying he's selfish, that he's solely interested in finding his own way, that this season that he
01:25said was his favorite, which, as Dan Shaughnessy notes today in the Boston Globe, would Tom Brady in a million
01:32years say 2007 was his favorite season?
01:34No.
01:35It's his least favorite season.
01:36He would not.
01:37And so what you do is you open yourself up for all of this.
01:41And just to remind Jalen, if you never did that Twitch and you lost that series, after the disappointment and
01:48anger of the week or so that followed, Celtics fans would look back on your regular season and say, you
01:54proved yourself in a way that we didn't know you could.
01:57Instead, this is all that people are talking about.
02:26Find a way to get him.
02:28They should split the two of them up.
02:30Find a way to get him to a team where he can be the guy.
02:32Because it doesn't.
02:34Until he gets that, he's not going to be happy.
02:36He's not happy unless he's the guy.
02:39Yeah, you're right.
02:40Am I right about that?
02:41Yeah.
02:41And I was kind of like, I was going to say that when Curtis was talking.
02:44It's time.
02:45Like, if you're, I was going to say, what do you think the people in the front office got to
02:49be thinking?
02:50Like, all right, it's time we probably got to just move on from Jalen.
02:53Not because he's not a good player.
02:55Well, this season, I think from his perspective, he feels like he led this team this season and the result
03:03was fantastic.
03:05He doesn't care about the playoffs or doesn't acknowledge that part of it.
03:08Or Jason Tatum was back and his mind, that screwed things up.
03:12I have no idea.
03:13But he thinks that he has shown everybody that he can be the guy.
03:19And they ought to just give him the opportunity.
03:21Like, get what you can for him and give him the opportunity.
03:24Right.
03:24Well, I think part of the reason why Jalen, it appears to me, like, isn't backing down from this and
03:30is, quote, tweeting and going back at Stephen A is because Stephen A isn't talking about him in a basketball
03:36way.
03:37And I saw Stephen A come back and say, I love you.
03:40Like, I have all love for you.
03:41So I'm not even, like, going to go deeper in this.
03:43Like, to me, I think, well, Stephen A is making it personal every time that he talks about Jalen.
03:49Like, he makes it personal about Jalen talking about how he thinks other people feel about Jalen as a person.
03:55And so to me, I'm like, I can understand.
03:57One, I think there's a reaction of when it feels like a media member or someone is telling you, I
04:04would imagine Wiggy as an athlete, basically shut up and dribble.
04:07Like, we all know that feeling.
04:08I think there's a little bit of that.
04:10But then on top of it, when you're going on a highly successful program like Stephen A has, he has
04:15a huge platform.
04:16A lot of people watch that.
04:17Greg May doesn't know it, but whatever.
04:19Right.
04:19That's fine.
04:20And he's making it personal.
04:22Right.
04:22Like, I think that's really hard for anybody, especially somebody who has a lot of pride like Jalen to just
04:30sit back and take that.
04:30But don't you think he should be quiet?
04:31No, no, no.
04:32He should be able to say what he wants.
04:35Nobody's saying he shouldn't be able to say what he wants.
04:37Yeah, but to Mago's point, it shouldn't be personal.
04:39They're telling him to be quiet.
04:39Yeah, it shouldn't be personal.
04:40Right, and he's telling him to lose his job.
04:41No, no, no.
04:42But it shouldn't be personal.
04:43It's the same way when Stephen A. Smith went after LeBron James and the LeBron-y situation about, oh, you
04:49as a father.
04:50Like, no, like, you're there and I get it.
04:52Stephen A. Smith makes $20 million a year.
04:54He makes a lot of money.
04:55But he wants to be like, if you're going to talk about the athlete and the performance and kind of
05:01how you feel about what that athlete's doing,
05:03then that's one thing.
05:04But when you start crossing over and you make it personal, athletes take that in a different way.
05:10Yeah, but I would say, I mean, sure.
05:12But my thing with Jalen is that.
05:13There's no sure.
05:14That's how an athlete feels.
05:15If somebody made it personal for you, would you not be upset?
05:21Wiggy, every time somebody makes a personal attack on an athlete, they have to reply in kind?
05:25No, but it's like, I love this, I'm greater than Dow.
05:30If somebody made it personal about me that you say, oh, you wouldn't say nothing.
05:35It wouldn't affect you.
05:35And it's not just somebody.
05:36It's the face of ESPN.
05:38People with a megaphone have made things personal about me over the last several years of my life in different
05:45avenues.
05:45And I've never responded.
05:47I've never responded.
05:48You responded on air.
05:49You respond to when people make it personal.
05:52No, Wiggy.
05:52I'm talking about it.
05:53You respond on air.
05:53In no way.
05:54You say, Curtis, I've been on air with you forever.
05:57Somebody makes it personal, you then will go after them and take shots, which is right.
06:03And I have no issues with that.
06:04So let's not act like when people don't cross a line and they get personal, you're not going to take
06:08shots back at them.
06:09And Wiggy, I'm just telling you honestly, there have been a million things said about me on other platforms that
06:14I have never replied to once, ever, in ways that were far more personal than what this guy did.
06:21So, yes, if we're on a radio show, you and I go back and forth.
06:24I don't take what you say personally.
06:26No, I'm not talking about me.
06:27I know you're a good person.
06:27I'm talking about a caller.
06:29Yes, somebody says something that bothers me I'll jump down their throat.
06:31That's fine.
06:31Shyam took like a giant shot at you personally.
06:34He did.
06:35Recently on this show.
06:36What did he say?
06:37Shyam, how did you refer to Curtis?
06:39Uh, uh, wasn't that long ago?
06:41Oh, I was a douche.
06:44Condescending douche.
06:44Yeah, condescending douche.
06:46I mean, the shoe fits.
06:48It's true.
06:49I mean, that was an absolute shot.
06:51A complete personal shot at your character.
06:53I said that Drake wasn't the greatest quarterback of all time and I deserved it.
06:56Yeah, I just saw black.
06:58Well, I, listen, I don't, Stephen A, I would not want to, you know, hang out with him.
07:03He seems like kind of a dink.
07:04But, but what Jalen is doing is just making Stephen A. Smith appear more right to the
07:12rest of the NBA.
07:13And I just think it's, I guess you're right.
07:16If he's giving advice to Jalen, Jalen's like, F off.
07:18You're the one telling me everybody hates me.
07:20I don't want to take advice from you.
07:21But that's maybe what I would say.
07:23And instead of saying, like, be quiet.
07:25Yeah, and I get it.
07:26Like, you know, you know, I understand, you know, Jalen feels a certain way.
07:29This is his best year.
07:30And I get it.
07:31You know, Shaughnessy on Brady.
07:32I mean, Brady would never say that, you know, 07 was his best year.
07:37I mean, we all know Brady would be like 2020 was my best year when I was in Tampa.
07:41Tom Brady would also, like, not.
07:43Brady would say, I don't have a dog in this fight of my best.
07:45Yes, 2020 was my best season.
07:47Yeah, I mean, he's not a streamer from New Hampshire.
07:51Jim, good morning.
07:54Good morning, Greg.
07:56How's everything down in South Carolina?
07:58Honestly, it's beautiful.
08:00Sometimes I think about maybe I'll move to Florida.
08:03I would move to South Carolina over Florida.
08:05No offense.
08:06I'm still a Florida guy.
08:08You're beautiful here.
08:09You're still a Florida guy?
08:10What's that?
08:10Sorry, Jim.
08:11My brother lives in Myrtle's Inlet, right outside Myrtle Beach.
08:16Loved it.
08:16It's beautiful, this island.
08:19It's a slow pace.
08:20Some people don't like that.
08:22Some people don't like the slow southern pace, but I don't mind.
08:26I got to tell you, I was knee-deep in small talk with strangers walking yesterday.
08:29Everybody says hello.
08:30I'm like, hey, how are you?
08:31I felt like a real human.
08:32Did they call you Bo?
08:33They did.
08:34Did they say you are the mythical creature that is friendly to people?
08:39I was.
08:40It was like this.
08:41I got a rash after.
08:43Hey, I cannot wait to see you guys on the 19th at Bernie's Beach Bar.
08:48Oh, it's going to be great.
08:49Yeah, well, I want to meet you guys in person.
08:52You know, I will show every day, every chance I get.
08:54And I just want to touch base real quick with what Wiggy said.
08:57Because I would take out of Bayou and get rid of Brown.
09:02I would.
09:03You would?
09:04That surprises me a little bit.
09:05So you feel like, I guess the question that I have for.
09:08Why can't they throw the guy in there from New Hampshire?
09:11I can't remember his name.
09:13Duncan Robinson?
09:15Yes.
09:15Because he's on Detroit.
09:17So it would be very difficult to do that.
09:20All right, we'll mix it up.
09:21You know what?
09:22Brad Stevens can mix that up.
09:24Yeah, yeah, we can figure that out.
09:26Why does it surprise you?
09:29For a straight up Jalen for Bam.
09:31Yeah.
09:32Because Jalen proved himself to be a top five player this year.
09:35So I'm curious if people.
09:36But is he happy here?
09:37No, no, no.
09:38I'm not.
09:38No, Jalen Brown.
09:39Do you think Jalen Brown is happy here?
09:41I think Jalen uses past what he perceives as slights in that way of like Michael Jordan
09:50creating reasons to be pissed off and motivated.
09:53I think that Jalen has a lot of that to him.
09:56Michael, can I ask you a question?
09:58But and I want honestly before this season where Jalen had an amazing season, would you
10:04say that he was way ahead Bam out of Bayou?
10:10No.
10:10Okay.
10:10I would have said they were very close one for one.
10:12All right.
10:12So that's why I think a lot of fans, if you like, because you said, all right, what is
10:17it, Dale, that fans that you would win and fans would be happy with?
10:20I think a lot of fans would be happy with the Celtics getting Bam out of Bayou.
10:26And I think Miami might throw in an extra player just because, you know, what Jalen Brown has
10:30been able to prove this year.
10:32And now you've got a guy like Jalen going and basically getting his own team in the Miami
10:39Heat.
10:40And you've got a guy where you'll get Bam out of Bayou who I don't think will have an
10:46issue with being the number two to Jason Tatum's number one.
10:50Well, no, they're, they're boys.
10:52So that would be like a good chemistry wise.
10:54Yeah.
10:54And I think they're bows.
10:55They're bows.
10:56Yeah.
10:56They're bows.
10:57Just so people know that didn't listen to me, bow is short for boat captain.
11:01Yes.
11:02I don't know.
11:03People just tuning in.
11:04What the hell are we talking about?
11:05But the.
11:06We're talking about Vrabel again?
11:08Oh God.
11:09Trying to get away.
11:11The.
11:11Don't you guys think though?
11:13So many things had to occur to get to where we are today in having this trade conversation
11:18with Jalen Brown, where what was theoretical and kind of a pipe dream.
11:22Now you have the perfect GM who is the most trusted man in Boston sports right now in Brad
11:28Stevens, a guy that other GMs don't pick up the phone when he calls because he's so good
11:33at his job.
11:34And you have Jalen Brown in this place of not unraveling.
11:39That's the wrong word, but publicly dealing with the worst loss the team has had in its
11:45history in a very negative way.
11:47And I think that coalesces around Tatum.
11:50What's the future?
11:51This is kind of a fork in the road.
11:53And if there ever was a time where this could happen, all those things have made it easier.
11:58I don't think it's going to be easy, but I think the fans will tolerate it in a way
12:02they maybe not have before.
12:03Well, you know, it was coming Curtis.
12:06Yeah, but not necessarily Wiggy.
12:08I mean, I, I, we, we talked to people have talked about splitting the J's up.
12:12No, no, no.
12:13But I'm saying this year, this year was going to be the year that the, you know, it, it
12:20was going to move the needle significantly.
12:21Because if Jalen had a great year, we already knew that with, there was frustration there
12:26with him being one B and him kind of, you know, in the minds of the team, not being the
12:31top dog, you know.
12:33So if he had a great year, that was going to swing it where he's going to be like, uh,
12:37uh, no more of you putting me behind, uh, Jason.
12:41And if he didn't have a great year, people were going to say, this is why it's Tatum's
12:47team.
12:47Yeah.
12:48Well, I also think that you run the risk of if you're Brad Stevens and you're doing
12:52your due diligence, which you're obligated to do for the basketball team, and you're
12:58calling around, finding out what you could theoretically get for him.
13:01You run, you're going to run the risk of infuriating him like you did in 2019 when
13:08you were talking about trading him.
13:10Like, it's going to be the same.
13:11Is it not going to be the same exact scenario?
13:14Yep.
13:14I, yeah, you had to be, you had to tread very, very carefully.
13:17But I, I do want to say like, just to play devil's advocate, because there is so much
13:24smoke around this with the way that it really is dominating.
13:27Like every show that I see, which the Celtics are, have not been in the playoffs now, but
13:33is it, does it mean anything that Jalen says that he would play here for 10 years if he
13:37could?
13:38No.
13:38Like 10 further years?
13:39No.
13:39Or do you think that's just him?
13:41Posturing.
13:41Yeah.
13:42Okay.
