00:00US airline the United Arab Emirates says its air defences are engaging missiles and drones
00:06launched by Iran early today. The strike is the latest test of the fragile month-long ceasefire
00:12between the US and Iran. Details remain scarce about the latest attack on the UAE. It comes
00:19just a day after US and Iranian forces exchanged fire near the Strait of Hormuz as Washington
00:25awaits Tehran's response to a proposal to end the conflict. Iran has often targeted the UAE and
00:32other Gulf countries that host US bases since the war began on February 28. President Donald Trump
00:38said three US Navy destroyers came under attack as they moved through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital
00:45waterway for global oil and gas flows that Iran has largely closed since the conflict began. Trump
00:52declared the ships transited successfully under fire with no damage to the vessels but heavy
00:57losses for the Iranian attackers. Later, he told reporters the ceasefire was still in effect,
01:03downplaying the exchange. Meanwhile, Iran's top military command accused the US of breaking the
01:10ceasefire by targeting an Iranian oil tanker and another vessel as well as carrying out airstrikes
01:16on civilian areas of Gashem Island and nearby coastal towns on the mainland. The military said it
01:23responded by attacking US military vessels east of the Strait and south of the port of Jabaha.
