00:00And that Sorsby thing that we are, we are in a heated argument off the air.
00:06Keith is texting, talking about his NIL deal.
00:10He was supposed to get $5 million this year.
00:12He's getting sued for a million from Cincinnati.
00:14It's crazy.
00:15Maybe we'll get back to that a little bit later on in the show.
00:17Mary Kay Cabot, 820.
00:18We'll see what her thoughts are on that.
00:20We know Mary Kay had the report and I still have not heard anybody with the Cleveland Browns deny that
00:27as of today,
00:29it's early, it's as early as it can be, that Deshaun Watson is the leader when it comes to the
00:36quarterback competition.
00:37We'll have her on at 820.
00:39I thought it was interesting that we played some Mark Schlereth audio yesterday and it was like,
00:45all right, you know, he didn't think that much of Shador Sanders.
00:49He's entitled to his opinion.
00:51But I am always very protective of one thing because I've gotten into it with Shador fans on social media.
00:58Nick Badone is in for Ken Carman today.
01:01I always try to make sure it's not personal, right?
01:04Like, here are my thoughts on Shador from what I've seen in the seven games that he played.
01:09And I just think there always is a fine line.
01:12Like, you don't want to take it too far.
01:14And I heard some of this from Mark Schlereth yesterday when he appeared on 92.3 The Fan.
01:19And I wondered, is it getting too personal at times?
01:23Here's the audio.
01:24This is not about favorites.
01:26And this is not about self-anointing.
01:28And this is not about I am him and all the, you know, legendary baloney that came out during the
01:35draft and everything else.
01:36You got drafted in the fifth round for a reason.
01:38It's because your skill set or your interview process or whatever the case may be was not what NFL scouts
01:46and NFL management thought it should be.
01:48And that's why you got drafted there.
01:50There wasn't a conspiracy.
01:52And Kevin Stefanski, he didn't say, oh, Shador's in.
01:55Let's give him the crappy plays.
01:57Like, we didn't change the game plan.
01:59We didn't try to sabotage you.
02:00Like, the Shador stans out there, the sycophants, they're so stupid and it's so ridiculous.
02:08The organization, yeah, a coach wants to be fired, so he's going to sabotage his young quarterback.
02:13Give me a break.
02:15You guys cannot be this stupid.
02:17All right, Mark Schlereth calling the fan base stupid.
02:20And you could certainly read between the lines, too, on how he felt about the buzz around Shador Sanders.
02:28Listen, the NFL draft ratings, some people think it took a hit this year because Shador Sanders was not on
02:35the board as teams were cycling through and it built up that drama.
02:39And I think there's something to that because we know, I deal with Shador fans all the time.
02:43I see how popular he is and how committed they are to the cause.
02:49So with all of that said, is that too personal?
02:52Maybe a little.
02:53Like, he kind of did double down on the stupid thing.
02:56Like, I don't, like, just if you're a fan of somebody, right?
03:00Like, like the Shador people that are out there, I get what he's talking about because I see the crazies
03:05in even my mentions.
03:06And I like Shador Sanders.
03:08Like, I have been saying all offseason long, I would start Shador Sanders over to Sean Watson.
03:14And yet still these people will be in my replies.
03:16Like, I'm sure because we were talking about Brendan Soresby, some of these Shador people will be like, well, you
03:22guys have your quarterback already.
03:23Like, what are you worrying about?
03:25They believe in him big time.
03:26And I don't think that's stupid.
03:27Like, I think as a fan of anything, as a fan of sports, as a fan of music, like, you
03:32believe in your guy.
03:35And sometimes it does, like, get to a level of delusion.
03:38And I do think that, like, to Shlara's point, that's where some of the Shador fans are at.
03:43But to continue to call and to double down and call a fan base stupid just because they want to
03:50see a guy succeed, like, that does seem a little bit personal to me.
03:53Because I don't really think that these people are doing anything wrong.
03:57Like, they're just rallying around a quarterback that they believe in.
03:59Okay, and rallying around, like, we've seen that.
04:02We saw that with Johnny Manziel.
04:03We saw it, obviously, Baker with some Odell Beckham fans.
04:08Yeah, the Watson fans with the clocks in their social media bios, like those people.
04:14That's the new world we live in in sports.
04:16These guys generate a huge fan base, cultivate a huge fan base.
04:20And they're able, because of social media, they're able to almost have their own community.
04:25And I do feel like because of the reality TV shows and people have known about Shador basically since he
04:31was born, that they've been following this kid.
04:33That a lot of people, they almost feel like they are one in the same.
04:37Like, they're part of the family.
04:38So, you know, I've seen this developed.
04:41And now, do I think, at times, like, any fan base, just like in politics, you know, the tribes, I
04:49do think there are people that take it too far.
04:50I think they're extremists.
04:52And, yeah, I've been on the other side of it.
04:54I've gotten DMs and people taking pictures of my wife and posting it on social media.
04:59And you know what?
05:00That's safe.
05:01That's the world we live in.
05:02I do this for a living.
05:03You're going to have some of that, okay?
05:05There are people that obviously take it too far.
05:07I will always, I'll have a debate.
05:10Like, I'll talk to anybody about the merits of what we're talking about.
05:13And I know people think that I've taken it too far when I've gone after the Shador fans.
05:18I have said, and I do think this is a reality.
05:21And I think you've got to think about this stuff.
05:22No matter if you're Shador fans, Deshaun Watson fans, whether you're Brendan Soresby fans, because we don't have him yet,
05:29but maybe eventually over time we might.
05:32I do think you've got to be careful if you're going to go scorched earth on every coach, on every
05:40player that screws up around him, on every media guy.
05:43Like, if you're going to take it that far, just know that he was not a first-round pick.
05:48He's not going to be afforded the opportunities that other guys have.
05:52And because of that, I do wonder sometimes if some of these coaches, I know they're paid big bucks and
05:57they're supposed to be big boys, but they have egos just like anybody else.
06:01And do they want to be called a racist right off the rip?
06:04Like, complete strangers calling them that, which is what happened in Kevin Stefanski.
06:08Right.
06:08I saw it.
06:09You can't act like they didn't.
06:10And, you know, I've seen Deion and some of the stuff he's reposted.
06:16So, do you want that kind of attention to be associated with the quarterback?
06:22He hasn't done any of it.
06:24Right.
06:24I know there are people that think he is orchestrating it.
06:28I have no evidence of that.
06:29I do know people very close to him have gone on shows in Cleveland and have propagated a lot of
06:34that stuff, too.
06:35So, you've just got to be careful.
06:37But, Shador seems so likable.
06:40And I don't want any of his fans, the radical ones, not just the normal rank and file.
06:45I'm talking the extremist fans.
06:47Right.
06:47Because I honestly venture to say that, like, the normal rank and file fans are the ones that are rational
06:54thinking.
06:54And I feel like that's kind of the layer of this where I fit in, where, like, it's a fifth
06:59-round pick that has shown a bit of promise.
07:01And if he pops in 2027, man, could we be off to the races?
07:06Because you would have effectively found your own version of Brock Purdy, and you could build everything up around him.
07:10And how spectacular would that be?
07:12But I think where the Shador Sanders fans, whether you're an extremist or you're just, you know, a casual Shador
07:19Fander supporter that wants to see him do well, where you've got to be careful is you do have to
07:25live in reality.
07:25And I think what reality is telling you right now is that the Browns might not be as hot on
07:32Shador Sanders as the Shador Sanders fans are.
07:35And I think that's where the disconnect is currently happening, where the Shador Sanders fans think that he's on this
07:40warpath to become the next Tom Brady, and anything short of that would be sabotage.
07:45Whereas reality is he's a fifth-round pick.
07:48He's still fighting and clawing and proving his way and did some really good things for the football team last
07:54year.
07:54Or you guys got to just let him continue to do that.
07:57Well, the way that they have gone after the media, look, I'm a big boy.
08:01I can take it.
08:02Mary Kay, she's a big girl.
08:03She can take it.
08:04She's used to this.
08:05She's seen it.
08:05Maybe she hasn't seen the level of vitriol that we have in this case.
08:09And it has, like, been ratcheted up.
08:11And look, they feel like Shador is playing for his NFL life in his quarterback competition.
08:17So they are monitoring everything.
08:19I mean, when it's written, and I misspoke, I said diploma.
08:23Yeah, he got his diploma.
08:24They immediately said, you're tarnishing all the hard work.
08:27And I'm like, man, I did a whole half a segment, like, congratulating him, saying how cool that was.
08:32And they thought, no, I was behind the scenes, wielding my powers, the media against Shador.
08:38It's like, guys, I think we're taking a little time.
08:40We need to get off the internet.
08:41I think we need to get off the internet for a second.
08:43And, like, I don't know.
08:44Maybe I'm speaking out of turn because I'm obviously just filling in today.
08:47But, like, I feel like we would love if Shador Sanders was good for this thing because of how polarizing
08:54he is.
08:55It would be awesome.
08:55If he's good, I mean, it changes everything.
08:57We have no vendetta against him as an individual or you guys that are the crazy people at his fan
09:03base, like, at all.
09:04Like, we want to see him succeed.
09:08216-474-0092.
09:10Let me get this call in real quick, and then we'll get to the Cavs because you have a player
09:13saying something that I found very interesting about the coaching in the series.
09:17Denise in Cleveland Heights.
09:18Go ahead.
09:19Hi.
09:20I'm confused.
09:22Isn't the fandom supposed to be supportive of players that are on their team?
09:28That doesn't make them stupid.
09:29To me, that makes them loyal.
09:31And you're going to have extreme fans no matter what it's going to be.
09:36But for the most part, most fans cheer for the team as a whole.
09:40And if Shador is going to be the quarterback, we're going to cheer for him and we're going to support
09:45him.
09:45Even though we're not up and down about the other boy that's always breaking a fingernail every five seconds, that
09:54doesn't mean that we won't cheer for him.
09:56Denise, I agree with you.
09:58I agree with you 100%.
10:00I just fear with some of these Shador Sanders fans, like, they're not really Browns fans as much as they
10:06are Shador fans.
10:08But we can all come together, right?
10:09They don't really count, though.
10:12But that's who Shlereth was addressing, though.
10:14He wasn't addressing the Browns fans that were here before Shador and will be here after Shador.
10:20He was talking to the people that came from Colorado or Texas.
10:24All over the country we've seen.
10:26Denise, I mean, I've seen it on our stream.
10:27We have so many listeners that have come from all over the country to cheer and to make their case
10:32for Shador Sanders.
10:34I personally love Shador.
10:36I love him because I think that just like the Browns were caught up in this hoopdom, so is he.
10:43I mean, he's been put in a position where, as you said earlier, he hasn't said a word, but every
10:50word evidently is coming from him.
10:52So it's like, you know, both sides are darned if you do, darned if you don't.
10:56Yeah, that's unfair.
10:57Yeah, Denise, I totally, thank you for the call and contributing here.
11:00I totally agree.
11:00Like, you can't assign all of his fans to him.
11:05He's, to me, he's said all the right things.
11:07Like, he has absolutely been a joy to, like, hear in the audio.
11:12It started.
11:14Shador beat Brendan Sorsby in college.
11:16And my mentions are already on fire.
11:20So people are.
11:21That makes it fun, though.
11:22Come on.
11:23Yeah, people are already standing ten toes down.
11:25So, I don't know.
11:27I'm with the Shador fans.
11:29Mark Schler has got to tone it down a smidge.
11:31Okay.
11:32How many toes down is Deion's?
11:34Oh, that's, now see, that's too far.
11:36That sounds personal.
11:37That's personal.
