00:00Broke yesterday here, passing of John Sterling, longtime radio voice of the New York Yankees,
00:05passed away at 87 after a 36-year career. And how about this? You want to talk about the Iron
00:10Man? You want to start a lot of games in Major League Baseball? Cal Ripken breaking that record.
00:14How about the New York native called 5,420 regular season games and 211 postseason games
00:21before retiring in April of 2024? You can always turn on that radio and there was John, it's high,
00:27it is deep, it is gone. Oh man, great calls from John Sterling, but again, just coming back with
00:32that information, it's a shame, but the Yankees did it right. You know, you saw a lot of those
00:36tributes around Major League Baseball, put his initials on the back of the cap, JS there.
00:41They'll always remember John Sterling, all those home run calls, quirky as they might have been,
00:45that was Yankees baseball, Joe. That really was. And you know, that's a, it's like a generation
00:52passed. I mean, he is maybe the end of an era there, Donnie. I mean, let's be realistic. How
01:00many people are really, you know, curled up listening to the radio and Yankee games or
01:04even Phillies games? I mean, you talked about this earlier. These guys, man, they were the voice of
01:10a generation that brought baseball into the homes of people. Didn't have to watch it. Isn't it amazing,
01:17Donnie? You didn't need to visually see it. You just needed to hear it. And you knew exactly what
01:22was going on.
