00:14This is from the constituency of Tirupatur, which saw a razor-thin finish.
00:20And the TVK won the seat by a single vote, with the final tally being 83,375.

00:32This one-vote has decided a high-stakes contest, as a dramatic photo finish was seen in this constituency.
00:40And now the DMK has questioned this result, and has said that legal options remain open for them.
00:47With such a razor-thin margin, by just one vote in Tirupatur,
00:53the DMK is looking at what their legal options are when it comes to the ability to challenge this election.
01:03Remember, this was the constituency for the minister, for a sitting minister, Peria Karupan.
01:11Now, Anaga Keshav is joining me on this story.
01:13Anaga, what exactly are you picking up from the DMK?
01:16DMK, what do they think are the legal options?
01:19Because this is a very, very close finish.
01:23That's right.
01:24In fact, this speaks volumes about how powerful democracy is really.
01:29The fact that a sitting minister, Peria Karupan, has lost by just one vote,
01:33just really tells you how important it is for every single person to come out and really cast their vote.
01:38And now the DMK is mulling to challenge this in the Madras High Court.
01:43It will take about a week's time for that to really happen.
01:46In fact, today, we had all the DMK leaders, including Chief Mr. Stallone, his son,
01:52you know, Udeni B. Stallone and all DMK's leadership,
01:55they had a huddle where it was discussed about...
01:58Where it was discussed about challenging this election result in the Madras High Court.
02:03So that is going to happen.
02:05In about a week's time, we can expect Peria Karupan's election results to be challenged.
02:09They will possibly ask for a recounting to happen, post which we'll really find out
02:13if there's going to be any change in election result.
02:16Will DMK win or will the election result be the same?
02:19That is, you know, something to be watched out for.
02:23Anagar, this is not the first time that we've seen such a whisker-thin win in India.
02:29And we've seen these matters coming to the courts also.
02:33Earlier, we've seen in the Rajasthan High Court, in the CP Joshi case, this had happened.
02:39But the courts had said that they had not given an order in his favor,
02:44at least in the CP Joshi case.
02:46In the Karnatuk case, in the Mizoram case, we've seen this kind of two votes,
02:50one vote, three vote wins.
02:53So, in those cases, they asked for a recount also.
02:56What are you picking up from the DMK?
02:58What their demand is going to be?
03:00Have they asked for a recount as well?
03:06Well, so far, the prayer has not yet been filed.
03:08It will take about a week's time for them to really gather that data.
03:11They first have to verify if the total number of votes that have been counted
03:16and the total number of voters that have voted match.
03:19If there is a difference of even one or two votes,
03:22then that would make DMK's case even more stronger.
03:25So, this numbers game is exactly what the DMK is doing right now.
03:29Chief Minister Stalin has had this word with his team, with his legal team.
03:34In fact, Wilson is also there.
03:35Wilson is the one who is heading the DMK's legal wing.
03:39And then there is Ennar Elongowan.
03:41So, they are the key members when it comes to DMK's legal wing.

03:49post which a final decision will be made
03:52because this loss is only by a whisker.
03:54Just one vote that can just make or break something for TVK.
03:59In fact, the TVK at this moment is still running short of 11 MLA.
04:03So, at this point, every single MLA, every single constituency matters a lot
04:08in case of a hung assembly kind of a situation like this.
04:12So, therefore, the TVK will try with all its might
04:16to sort of prevent this recounting, to sort of prevent this repolling of sorts.
04:21But ultimately, it is left to the judiciary
04:23if they will really give a go-ahead for a recounting.
04:26But the fact that the DMK is mulling challenging this in the Madras High Court
04:30is real in the DMK's headquarters where I am reporting from right now.
