00:00Apple has patched a bug that allowed the FBI to obtain a defendant's signal messages even after
00:04they've been deleted from their iPhone. I'll explain how the bug was exploited and how you
00:08can lock down your signal account in 90 seconds for your Tekken 90. 404 Media reported that the
00:12FBI was able to forensically extract deleted signal messages thanks to the iPhone's push
00:17notifications database. Although notifications are not supposed to be stored long-term,
00:21Apple said the bug led those records to be unexpectedly retained on the device.
00:25That made the notifications retrievable even after the defendant uninstalled signal from
00:29their phone. The flaw only affected signal users who enabled push notifications with message content
00:34included. Although the bug has been fixed, signal users can still change their notification settings
00:39to not include sensitive information. Do this by opening the signal app, select your profile picture
00:44in the upper left-hand corner, go to notifications and select the show option. From there, you can
00:49choose for notifications to show a recipient's name only or no name or message. More on this and other
00:55text stories at san.com.
