00:02Two former FBI agents are suing the federal government, claiming they were fired for working
00:08on the investigation into President Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The
00:13lawsuit names FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing them of political
00:19retaliation. The agents, identified as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2, say they were removed last fall
00:26after being tied to the investigation, known internally as Arctic Frost. According to the
00:31filing, neither agent was given notice, a hearing, or any evidence supporting their termination.
00:37The lawsuit argues both men played only limited roles in the case, handling administrative work,
00:43not leading the investigation. That probe was overseen by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
00:48The agents are asking a federal judge to reinstate them, arguing their First and Fifth Amendment
00:54rights were violated. Their attorneys say the firings were based on a perception. They were
00:59politically disloyal to the president. Quote, political support for President Trump is not
01:05a legal or appropriate requirement for the effective performance of plaintiffs' respective roles within
01:10the FBI. Accordingly, perceived lack of political support for President Trump is an impermissible
01:17basis for termination of plaintiffs' FBI employment. The lawsuit comes as multiple former
01:23agents challenged what they describe as a broader effort to remove officials tied to investigations
01:29involving Trump. The Justice Department has not responded to the lawsuit.
