00:00This morning in southern Arizona, the mystery deepens in what investigators say is the abduction
00:07of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie. Authorities
00:13believe she was taken from her bed while she slept. Two media outlets, including TMZ,
00:18have received what appears to be a ransom note. Investigators are now working to confirm
00:22whether it is authentic and who sent it. CBS News has also obtained video showing blood
00:28droplets outside the front door of Guthrie's home in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains
00:33near Tucson. Authorities have not confirmed whose blood it is. Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday
00:39night after returning home from dinner with family. When she failed to show up for church on Sunday
00:44morning, relatives called for help. The Pima County Sheriff says investigators are now processing
00:50evidence, including fingerprints, DNA, and surveillance footage. They say the home is
00:55equipped with cameras, but authorities have not said what, if anything, they captured.
01:00The sheriff says time is critical. Guthrie relies on daily medication, and without it,
01:05her life could be in danger. President Trump, asked about the case on Tuesday, called it terrible,
01:10and said he will reach out to Savannah Guthrie. The Today Show anchor was scheduled to take part in
01:15NBC's upcoming Winter Olympics coverage in Italy, but has since withdrawn. She has asked for the
01:20public's prayers. The sheriff of Pima County said again multiple times on Tuesday, they simply do not know
01:26where her mother is.
