01:18well have to put it all nighter to get it all ready for tomorrow so I've got that one I've

01:23but then the little ones haven't arrived we're exhausted but we're ready to party it's actually
01:35making me emotional on the Costa del Sol in Estepona Jasmine and John are just two days away from hosting

01:50housewarming party for friends and family however many sections of the house including the garden need
01:58finishing off without Jasmine able to oversee the work as she's filming in Portugal I am away for a few
02:06days with work and feeling a bit guilty to be honest because I've left John with the kids off school
02:14with
02:15the renovation coming down to the wire I've tried to organize as much as I can before I left but
02:19still
02:20I'm yeah just worrying about things and feeling bad for leaving him to deal with it all single-handedly
02:30it feels like quite a long time since I've been left home alone Jazz left me quite a big list
02:36of
02:36things that need to be finished I mean the headlines are the garden is nowhere near finished there's no
02:42grass on the floor the wall in the back garden is nowhere near finished the living room is not finished
02:49basically perfect time for just to be away the party itself also needs some attention we need to
02:55organize food drinks maybe a surprise and some entertainment so yeah not only do we have the
03:00renovation to do while jazz is away we also have to make sure the party can happen in the first
03:05place
03:07John's biggest challenge could be the garden wall it's the last piece of major work on the renovation
03:12and it's a lengthy process for lead plasterer Matt yeah I'm rounding it I'm trying to straighten out the wall
03:22and as soon as I finished straightening it out then we put a spinal coat it's white it's a very
03:29fine
03:30aggregate it has limon in it's breathable and waterproof as well and that'll be the finished coat on it and
03:37just painted and then match it Matt can't apply the final coat until tomorrow once the render is dry
03:43which is why there's a danger of missing the party deadline I'm about as confident as winning the
03:49lottery well I'm we're trying we're trying trying our best it's all we can do that wall is giving us
03:59a
03:59lot of gray hairs Jazz and I have huge concerns that we're going to have this lovely party just behind
04:05this or to our left is going to be this sort of gray ugly beast until the wall is completed
04:13the
04:13garden also can't be finished the site has to be clear of building work before the turf that's just
04:18arrived can be laid yeah once we get it over there I'll give it a good water we're wrestling turf
04:33I'd say of all the things we've ordered turf is the one thing you don't want to arrive early in

04:39degree heat and so now we've all just hoofed the turf from the very hot sunny front of the house
04:52to
04:52the only naturally shady patch around the back of the house hope that we can get that turf down if
05:07not I fear that we've just wasted a pallet for a term human chain of town just need to remember
05:15to hose
05:16and water the turf along with the plants otherwise Jazz is going to come back we'll have dead turf and
05:21dead plants which is a distinct possibility I'm not very green-fingered anyway we've now got turf
05:26sitting around waiting to be laid meanwhile in the lounge the marble floor that now extends through to
05:35the kitchen is being polished hola bien bien unless you look really closely you can barely see where
05:45the old tiles end and the new ones start I mean it looks amazing the old floor I am guessing
05:54was at
05:55least 15 possibly 20 years old and the new floor has just gone down it blends seamlessly I was skeptical

06:03stand very corrected John can now green lights bringing in the first piece of furniture the new
06:10sofa getting furniture like the sofa sort of inter-situ in the living room you feel like this this is
06:18it
06:18we are definitely on the downhill straight but it is going into place the floor has been polished let's
06:28get this done outside in the garden the rendering of the wall is gathering pace allowing John to turn
06:36his attention to another important task a singer jasmine hasn't a clue that he's secretly planning live
06:47entertainment for the party I'm with traditional music I need to knuckle down with my Spanish to try and
06:55organize something for this surprise because you know entertainment partying music it's not an
07:01element of my limited Spanish vocabulary that I know anything about so John's turning to a language app for
07:17help I've been winging everything since we got to Spain I'd say I've bumbled through my Spanish classes much like
07:24this entire renovation I should have been practicing about six months ago but life and renovation and family
07:37just slightly gone in the way which is gracias por so I you know I you dad if I can't
07:43even say the
07:44bloody basics I'm not gonna get bad but there's no more time for dress rehearsals so John has little
07:51choice but to take the plunge when it's up when it's added a mi amo John I said disponible para
08:02dancing on
08:03un fiesta en el sábado oh lo siento ok no pasa nada I did understand that she wasn't available on

08:58know jazz will be secretly wondering what's going on back here while she works in Portugal so I'm gonna
09:04try and catch her when she's not working and give her a quick phone call hi how's work it's fine

09:13just waiting for something and then we can carry on filming so I might not have much time I know
09:18you're working hard but I actually think getting out of the house for a few days is probably and done
09:24you some good yeah before I have a complete meltdown and start shouting everyone how are the kids by the
09:31way I'm not sure they've noticed you've gone now um so yeah the house is sort of under control the
09:43electricians here tomorrow then I think he'll be here for most of the day but you know fingers
09:47crossed the lights arrive he can fit those on the exterior wall he can finish some light fittings that
09:51we need around the house so because we're behind on the wall we've currently got lots of turf rolled
09:58up drying out well I am watering it obviously but I'm drying under the tree so it'll be fine don't
10:04worry it's just annoying isn't it with the best will in the world things just go wrong when you've got
10:11like the best laid plans but when you've got a schedule this tight you know I just saw it go
10:15sleeping out yeah I gotta go I'll call you when I finish work nothing to panic about you did want
10:22the front room cupboards purple didn't you don't wind me up don't wind me up bye I love you bye
10:32I'm not entirely sure if that phone call has set Jazz's mind at rest or given her more to worry

10:39in hindsight maybe I shouldn't have called her but it's fine everything is going well here
10:43just be going a bit better when she's back to help
11:06the renovation team now have only one working day before Jasmine and John's housewarming party to
11:12finish the job so head builder Dominic is rallying the troops for one final push priority today is the
11:21garden wall cappuccino in right across it massive amount of work in one day 40 degrees we're running
11:30out of time but we'll get there you can feel it's that dragging because it's wet you can see a
11:39couple of
11:40dents in there and then it's just filled in it gets us smoother if you see a little blemish you
11:49just
11:49rub it in exactly yeah with Jasmine expected home later in the day John's checking on progress oh yes
12:02looking good looking amazing in fact looks like a totally different wall hopefully it's done in time
12:10to get the turf on this afternoon next John is tackling another important task picking up some
12:18essential supplies for the household the house isn't finished and we're not ready for the party but um I
12:24thought it's the perfect time to leave the house again and go for a little shop a few weeks ago
12:34the
12:34family discovered a local vegan market and were so impressed they've booked the same caterers leaving
12:41John responsible only for snacks and refreshments right I've done well I've made a list it's more than I
12:49normally do I mean basis drinks drinks and drinks I want a young fruity easy drinking red for Tinto de
13:03Valano table
13:05wine mixed with soda is a popular cold drink in Spain I'm easily sidetracked when it comes to wine
13:16shopping or any shopping in general I'm not sure many people will drink white wine but a white
13:20Rioja for anyone that does I probably need some Prosecco or some Cava right come on make a decision buy
13:30some Cava gets the beer haha beer and it's on offer
13:49I feel like I'm being the least decisive I've been in quite a while I feel like Jazz and I
13:57are at the
13:57end of a very long few months I mean it's great look what we've got at the end of it
14:02but it doesn't
14:02take away from the fact we're exhausted but we're ready to party mission accomplished a trolley full of
14:12refreshments drinks crisps and olives on the way home John is making a stop-off at a vegan bakery where
14:22earlier in the year joy and Albion had a hands-on lesson Gabriella after that as another party surprise
14:34for Jasmine John knows exactly what to order cinnamon rolls like you did with the kids and a chocolate
14:42cake and a chocolate cake and also you're obviously very welcome to come to the party oh thank you very
14:47much for the invitation hopefully the house will be finished the way we're going there might be some
14:52wet paint on the walls and stuff like that but it'll be fine lovely can't wait to see it oh

15:05the party cakes organized we need to try everything else and not to mention my enormous to-do list for
15:11the house John's top priority has been the garden wall and turf in the area around the pool in the

15:21he's been away on his shopping expedition that's all been done and dusted while inside Martin the
15:32electrician has been fixing the last of the plug sockets which means a momentous milestone has been
15:40reached as the builders and the team are now officially finished on the renovation come on

16:39do around the house I think I'll have to go away more often because I can't believe the amount that
16:46they've managed to get done in such a short space of time so much has changed the floors been polished

16:53walls been finished the grass is down that's what happens when you put the pressure on and we've
17:02only got 24 hours till our housewarming party so there's still quite a lot to do inside you know
17:08putting all the little finishing touches everywhere so hopefully I won't have to pull an all-nighter but
17:14I don't know I probably will have to pull an all-nighter to get it all ready for tomorrow
17:20since the lounge is the first room guests will see when they walk in the front door
17:24Jasmine's paying it particular attention I need to use my internal spirit level straight yes
17:35what do we do on this wall we haven't really well these are two of the items that were meant
17:41to go on
17:41the wall they are supposed to be part of a gallery wall with some other smaller prints and a mirror
17:47and you know a plate and lots of things but some of the other know what you mean some of
17:52the other
17:52stuff hasn't arrived so I'm not sure how to approach it because they're supposed to look like this we'd find
17:59some other oh yeah that's nice really nice so I've got that one I've got that one and I've got
18:06that one
18:06but then the little ones haven't arrived also I feel like if this was the UK we'd go up in
18:13the
18:13loft and get like some bits and make it all work we're here we're kind of which is that an
18:17idea
18:18we'll go back to the UK what about those Ingella prints I know the panther and the tiger the
18:25kids they would look super nice in here it's now the evening before Jasmine and John's housewarming
18:51guests arrive and parts of the house are still in an unfinished state in the main bedroom Jasmine's
19:00finding a home for some last-minute deliveries while John's also adding some finishing touches
19:13outside in the garden an extra pair of helping hands have arrived to sort out the borders
19:19I love my neighbors I'm so lucky to have such nice neighbors Manuel is doing the garden for us he's
19:29a
19:29gardener and it's looking absolutely fantastic and he's putting all these beautiful plants in oh it's a
19:39delivery let's see what it is I've been waiting for a delivery of some garden furniture and they told me
19:49it would arrive and it's eight o'clock at night and it's just arrived literally the night before the
19:55housewarming party so someone is looking down on me we don't open a system in Tepe is that and we
20:04are not
20:05where oh just in time for all our visitors tomorrow I will have something for them to sit on
20:24I'm actually so happy with the garden
20:34it's actually making me emotional because because it's been through my lovely neighbors
20:44who've helped with all the plants and all the actual gardening and my lovely friends who have
20:51given me some of these beautiful plates that are like traditional Andalusian pottery and they look
21:00stunning on the walls and the plants look stunning and it's even more special because it's all been
21:10made possible from friends new friends we've made since coming to Spain the renovation is now officially
21:29over nine months on from when Jasmine and John bought this property in Estepona this is it kids
21:40what do you think what do you think what's your favorite bit so far Albs the dream part don't you
21:49like the natural exposed brick the front of the house there's still things to be done out there
21:58the gates haven't arrived we haven't had the time to do the patio but compared to when we first viewed

22:08it's all painted we've got a driveway it's way better but as well as triumphs they've also faced real
22:18challenges the blood test results suggest I've had a mild heart attack with John recovering from this
22:25and a double fracture to his leg there was one person to whom Jasmine naturally turned
22:32how traumatizing to have someone so selfless my mom is just a lifesaver
22:40thanks so as the day of the housewarming party arrives
22:49before anyone else sets foot inside thanks so much for coming all this way Jasmine is giving her mum
22:56a VIP tour are you ready ready as ready as I'll ever be there used to be a dividing wall
23:06between the lounge and
23:07kitchen what do you reckon kids it smells bad it's tiny tiny not that small is it
23:34so much more spacious that wall is gone that wall is gone yeah this big block in the corner
23:43here remember where there was a cupboard and there was a big column behind it and it feels so much
23:47bigger doesn't it does it does it I think I want to knock my walls the thing that I love
23:55about the new
23:56layout is you walk through the front door and you can see all the way through straight away the sliding
24:04doors are not the only feature that have made a huge difference to the main living space how do you
24:09like the kitchen it's fantastic the work tops were fitted and the units plumbed in last week so it's
24:22the first time jasmine's been able to show it all off fully finished it's beautiful I'm really happy with it
24:34I love the kitchen I think the color is amazing and we've got so much space and so much storage
24:41more
24:42than we need really before the kitchen was kind of completely separate room and it felt quite dark and
24:49dingy but now it feels much more light and open as well as the new layout the other structural alteration
24:58to the ground floor has been the creation of access from the lounge to the main outside space look down
25:05to this floor mom we've got stairs going down here now what do you think yeah it's very nice I've
25:13got
25:13to say one highlight for me that stands out was the stairs from the balcony and you'd mince the stairs
25:22it's just hasn't it just been transformational to how we're able to use the garden so yeah I love I

25:30that that was my idea what do you think then mama oh wow it's just amazing
25:44yeah the pool looks lovely nice and clear and beautifully framed girl that lovely greenery so do you like the
25:52plants mum the bougainvillea nice couple of big and really isn't my neighbor next door has helped so much
26:00with the garden yeah beautiful wall that's that wasn't there before the whole wall yeah that wall
26:11literally has been finished in the last four years that was a race against time that's nice the wall
26:17it makes the garden improves it so much more it's great the fact that we've not been able to use
26:23the
26:23pool we've not been able to use the garden for most of this whole renovation project has made me feel
26:29really like we've been missing out especially for the kids so having that come together now and
26:34looking so beautiful it makes me very happy whilst the garden and lounge kitchen were only finished
26:42yesterday the children's bedrooms on the first floor were completed during phase one of the build
27:01it's so cool but jasmine had a second potentially tough critic to please too can i go in let's go
27:11in and i can't wait to see what you think
27:32joy also has the added bonus of her own private terrace
27:39that terrace when we first came here to have a look around the first thing that hit you was
27:44the smell look at this joy it's gone there there was a dilapidated hot tub that was full of green
27:55slime and mosquito lava it was hideous it made me gag
28:03is he actually throwing up i don't know i mean it is quite gross
28:08as her mum loved the garden jasmine wants to show her this outside space too
28:14have you seen out here before was it like this wow no it's like a resort
28:21yeah
28:31imagine being an 11 year old going on teenager and bring your mates out here in the evenings beautiful
28:37this is one of the easy jobs very nice very nice absolutely gorgeous your little granddaughter she's
28:45a very lucky girl
28:48also on the first floor is the family bathroom which jasmine and john tackled at the same time as the
28:55bedrooms
28:57uh and that's the bathroom with the very damp ceiling what are you doing let's see how damp it is
29:10that went in my mouth i think it's like 10 years of neglect neglect
29:24great in here now isn't it finally what's your favorite bit those tiles
29:31and the toothbrush timer what's your favorite i don't know i quite like the massive sink and the
29:38wooden unit that is beautiful i think our compass really when renovating this
29:45house has been to stay true to the style of the house and also to stick with things that we
29:53love
29:54ourselves so it's a bit of a mishmash in places isn't it it's a blend yep but i think the

30:05right this is a real hot spot up here
30:13it's not bad is it out here i mean you could make so much more of it
30:17be careful because it's full of the dirty water oh god

30:36yeah there's a funny story about that actually because it used to be a glass top table it wouldn't
30:42go up the stairs it wouldn't come up the side so in the end we made that tabletop out of
30:50wood
30:50and then all the offcuts made that planter over there that's nice yeah i like that planter very
30:55much it's really good you have the fairy lights and the festoons it's a good spot for sunbathing
31:02it's a lovely spot for a sundowner john will be hiding up here in the winter won't you probably
31:07this will be my office in the winter put my laptop on that table it's really lovely up here

31:21the house has changed so much since i saw it first
31:26it just looks amazing like a different house
31:31i am so proud of jasmine and john they work so hard they deserve to have nice place
31:37it almost brings me to tears to think that
31:42jasmine grew up in a rented home in hackney and now she's got a place in the sun
32:06down on the costa del sol the vegan food truck has just parked up and chefs philip and burta are
32:13preparing the evening's menu the party's about to get started and jasmine and john can finally celebrate
32:22i'm feeling a bit emotional
32:26very relieved really really thrilled with the outcome i mean everything's been a struggle but
32:32everything's come together in the end like last night i was like wow this house is amazing and we're
32:38very lucky it was a huge project yeah yeah when we first looked around this house it was a house
32:45that
32:45had no longer been loved and now we've taken a house that's in the perfect location for us and made
32:51it perfect for us you know we've given it a heart again we've given it a soul again
32:58someone who's been instrumental in helping jasmine and john realize their vision for their
33:03new home is interior designer laura hello oh welcome back as well as the living room with
33:12its now completed gallery wall she's also had a big hand in the makeover of some other rooms such as
33:18the main bedroom so jasmine's keen to get her opinion bit of a transformation in here
33:29yes absolutely what a tranquil room
33:34so calming and peaceful i love the textures and the light materials oh wow
33:40it was only actually last night i finished this room every good renovation has a little bit of a rush
33:49to
33:49the finish line in the end we upcycled the old bed yeah there you go no it looks great all
33:55the colors
33:56really complement each other and pull it all together so it looks fabulous there was a lot more that i
34:02would have liked to have done in there but with time and budget constraints it became less of a priority
34:12for us and i think that's a an indicator really of how much we care about other people our kids
34:20our
34:21visitors everyone else because we put our own bedroom as the bottom of the priorities but i think
34:27it's turned out beautifully another one of laura's designs was for the family entertainment room in the basement
34:37are you ready for this oh wow wow wow
34:46this is fantastic it's come together really nicely hasn't it what a transformation
34:53i mean i wasn't convinced you know as much as john was about putting so much work into this basement
35:01but well i think it speaks for itself doesn't it it does and i bet you this becomes one of
35:06the most
35:06hard working rooms of the house i'm sure it will and this is the area that everyone gets really
35:11surprised by yeah you show them around the house they think they've seen it all and then you come down
35:15here and it's like pow exactly there's another space which wasn't one of your designs but it's a little
35:23bit of a surprise through there this was the garage now look when the renovation began
35:29this part of the basement was half built and open to the elements
35:36have a look at this yeah oh again what a transformation
35:49the cat's the one who uses it the most i'm gonna go in the roar i mean that this is
35:55my excuse for
35:56not using them all really as much because she's always there you don't want to kick her off
36:01i just think it's great it's like the basement is the space that keeps on giving doesn't it i know
36:07there's a bathroom down here as well now so that would be used you know if you're in the basement
36:12or if you're in the garden or if you're in the gym perfect and practical mm-hmm well i'm so
36:18pleased you
36:19could make it i am so excited thank you for having me back to see the transformation
36:26it's just delightful to actually get to see the family enjoy the space renovations are stressful and
36:33it's just so wonderful to see them all smiling and happy and enjoying it finally
36:42i think we're very proud of what we've achieved right i mean i also think we should be proud
36:48some of the circumstances with which we've achieved i mean that's what makes me more proud
36:54is that against all odds we've still managed to create an amazing home
37:02i would definitely do it again i can't say that i've enjoyed the process of the renovation but i
37:10definitely feel like it was the right choice for us to buy this house it was like destiny
37:17fate or otherwise none of it could have happened without dominic son quinn and all of the builders
37:24you just can't get rid of us
37:29it's nice to do a personal house it has its problems because they're living there as well
37:34but you get to know them and to go to a party at the end it's a topping out party
37:39in it it looks lovely
38:02it's a bit of a transformation
38:05she's fantastic another team who played a key role in the renovation are kitchen designer rebecca
38:12and her assistant carmen no seriously i love the way you've got all these different areas yeah yeah
38:19and they're the little detail it's fine yeah the plates and you guys have been so helpful thank you
38:27we've really loved it we've enjoyed it it's been a pleasure actually it's absolutely wonderful being
38:33here today and seeing everything finished and the whole house has come together the kitchen installed
38:38and the way they beautifully decorated it we don't actually often get to see the kitchen when there are
38:44people in the house and enjoying it and that's what we're seeing today all the guests have now arrived
38:51and the hospitality is flowing jeff are you drinking planta lemon no i mean it's meant to be a ball
38:59and
38:59then like you can serve the garden we've been so lucky to make lovely friends here in spain and
39:09you know to be able to celebrate with them in our own home
39:15it's a privilege to be able to host a party and show people and go this is what you've helped
39:20achieve you know without your help we wouldn't be able to do it the vegan food truck is about to
39:26start serving so before everyone tooks in jasmine wants to seize an important opportunity

41:38it will all work out in the end and yes we knew it was going to be a challenge but

42:12i've only crazily bought a house in spain well thanks for being on this journey with me i mean
42:17it's been a been a ride hasn't it been a heck of a ride but

42:29you want everything get the one last surprise if everyone wants to come up to the roof terrace on the
42:34very top you have to come this way using jazz's new stairs everyone's the roof terrace the top one
43:06i really love music and i especially
43:11i love latin music so that was really special it was fantastic
43:21the guitarist was out of this world the singer was fantastic
43:30we kind of set out to create this house or this home it was perfect for entertaining and being
43:36sociable and it feels like it's a nice way to end by being entertaining and being sociable and using
43:42the house using every bit of the house and now the renovation is over we'll have a lot more time
