00:02Piecing together what led to a tragedy, the ATSB on site and investigating the twin-engine
00:08plane crash which left two dead and ten injured, one of those still fighting for life in hospital.
00:14It is heartbroken at first.
00:16But it was such a shock because it's a safe zone normally.
00:21Early investigations indicate the training flight, which took off shortly after 2pm on
00:26Wednesday, dramatically rolled to its left only seconds after becoming airborne.
00:30Now that roll has continued beyond 180 degrees and ultimately coming down with quite a steep
00:37attitude into the building.
00:38Investigators say it's too early to determine the cause but have described the scene as horrific.
00:43Not only has the pilot and the instructor lost their lives, there's been significant damage
00:48to a hangar that the plane on take-off has ultimately collided with.
00:52There are a number of people in hospital, some with very significant burns, others with
00:57smoke inhalation.
00:58The ATSB says the plane also hit a classroom while flight students were inside.
01:03It's quite a catastrophic scene inside that hangar this morning that my investigators were
01:10greeted with.
01:10There were five aircraft in the hangar, so not only has the accident aircraft been completely
01:15destroyed, it looks as though at least two or three other aircraft in there have also been
01:20completely destroyed by the fire there.
01:22Authorities say their thoughts are with all those affected.
01:25I just want to, on behalf of the South Australian Government, pass on my condolences to the families
01:32of those that have lost their lives.
01:34It is a harrowing experience that no family ever wants to go through.
01:39If you have any concerns about your own well-being or the well-being of people you care about,
01:44get some professional assistance.
01:46ATSB investigators will be here for another three to four days investigating the crash site,
01:51and they expect to produce their first report in two months' time.
