Hundreds of mourners have gathered to farewell a 13-year-old girl killed in regional Victoria last month. A 16-year-old boy is now facing a murder charge over the death of Layla Jeffrey, who is being remembered as a kind-hearted daughter, sister and friend.

00:01The funeral for 13-year-old Layla Jeffery has just concluded in the Donald Memorial Hall.
00:07300 people attended, creating a sea of pink ribbons, black hoodies and Hello Kitty pants,
00:13which were Layla's favourite clothes. Senior Pastor Lisa Woods led today's service
00:18and Layla's aunt, Caitlin, presented her eulogy, describing Layla as a moth
00:23who attracted friends wherever she went.
00:25And Layla's father, Aaron, also presented a poem in Layla's honour.
00:31Layla was allegedly murdered at the start of July.
00:33Her family declared her missing to police on July 4th.
00:37Her remains were found days later in bushland near the Richardson River.
00:41A 16-year-old boy was later charged with murder.
00:44He was set to front the court today,
00:46but his appearance has been adjourned to August upon request from both parties.
